I forgot to respond to this........We did the tour in 1994 IIRC. I still have the black Chevrolet coffee mug I picked up in the souvenir shop. It was very cool trying to walk up that embankment! That and the sheer size of the entire facility is just amazing. BTW, although I sound like a huge fan I'm not really. That mug is the only piece of "NASCAR" type gear I've ever bought! Went to one race back in about 1999 or 2000?? Watkins Glen of course. It really wasn't that big of a deal. I wouldn't ming going to someplace like Michigan. I like to hit Lancaster or Holland once or twice a year. Traveled to Lake Erie Speedway in 2011 for a race, very nice facility.

If I got a BJ and they had no guns what good would that be? Stock rocks. BGC customer service isn't so hot. -
The new place on Broadway?

Those guys would have "fit" right in down your way with all the resident two legged fudge packers I'd guess. -

That reminds me, anybody remember the "Tackle Shack" in Wayland? When I was just a little shaver I used to go there with a buddy to get bait for Springwater creek. It was a little shop loaded to the gills with cool stuff that made my jaw drop. Cool memories.......... -
The Best Gun Shop You Ever Visited IS/Was.......

I should add that Creekside has been gone for quite a few years, how many I don't recall. 15 at least, maybe 20?? -
I was thinking about the Gander Mountain thread and what a debacle that is! Yesterday afternoon I stopped at the Buffalo Gun Center, looking for a small pistol cleaning rod. (I scored a nice Dewey all-brass rod with a nice brass patch jag) The place was packed at 4:00 in the afternoon. Unreal............ The selection of guns there is second to none. I dare say it is the best in the state. Their selection and stock of handguns is amazing. Before the NYSAFE BS their inventory was beyond comprehension, now it is still miles ahead of any gun store I've seen in many years. Long guns are stacked high and deep also. Some very high end (HIGH) shotguns and rifles of all flavors. Ammo for anything ever chambered (except .22's these days!) for cheap to expensive. Yes, the prices can be a bit higher than many other local store but they can get away with it. For all the guys that walk away to buy someplace else there are a dozen more that want it NOW and are willing to spend what it takes to git-er-done. The thing is...................they'll probably have to wait to get it "someplace else" or order it on-line. If you want it now, BGC probably has it or can get it PDQ. But.................................What is the BEST gun shop you have ever been in? For me, I'd have to say Creekside Gun Shop In Holcomb NY takes the cake. Ed Hart's in Bath and Ackley's in Westfield were amazing also. Creekside was special for another reason though, the shooting range out back. Yep, see a gun (used only I believe) you'd like to try out? Grab some ammo and take a few pokes. How cool is THAT? I bought a used Ithaca M37 DS after some range time back in about 1980. Another thing, IIRC was they advertised "over 4,000 guns in stock"! They had a HUGE area for used guns that you could fondle for hours on end before they booted your azz out. Johnson's Country Store will always have a warm place in my heart as I started visiting there in 1979 and Al has got more than a few dollars of mine. (probably 50/50 between the BGC and Johnson's) The Cabin Range never did much for me but he had a decent stock. The owner just has an arrogant attitude that I couldn't warm up to. How about the Cartridge Corner in Wrights Corners, remember that on? He's been gone for years. OK, vote now for your favorite shop, poll's close at midnight.

I'd bet GM is only spending a couple hundred thousand per store, if that. So the money is minor in the big scheme of things. I have no experience with Field & Stream stores. Are they just a Dick's Hunting Lodge Super Sized? If so, I'll pass on that too. I don't like all this crap with THEIR brand name line GM and Dick's does. Seems they are trying to emulate the model that Cabela's started years ago but the difference being Cabela's stuff was better quality IMO.

Talking about jumping the string, I think the first time I ever saw it via video was many years ago in the old Gene & Barry Wensel film "Bowhunting October Whitetails" Anybody else recall that? PS That was one of the best videos ever made, IMO.

There is a place on the north side of Rt 5 just east of Rt 77 in Genesee County that had the most amazing rock wall you have ever seen. I don't know how big it is other than to say it could be a thousand yards in length, 3' wide and 3-4' high? Amazing.............

Tonawanda had a PILE of ammo in stock for pistol shooters earlier this week. 9mm, 40cal and 45cal. Lots of bulk stuff. Oh, and a ton of coolers and pink camo.

Decent weather? Today was a horrible day here, IMO. Windy as all get out. I took my pooch for a walk and it was brutal in the open areas. Man is this getting old.....................................

Meaning you live in his camp?

Beats the crap out of sitting on your azz messing with a chat room............................................................ If I was you, I be hanging a couple chunks of steel way the heck out on those trees (with a decent back stop) for some long range rifle banging. It'd take me a .05 seconds to make that move. Nice looking place you have.

Grind it up and use in a recipe calling for..................................ground turkey. It's the best thing I've done for wild turkey.
