  1. OK, that won't work for what I was thinking.......... Do your research and list it here or if you get bold, give Gunbroker or Guns International a shot. I've sold nothing on Gunbroker but have sold a few on GI. Bought from both........... Doing your due diligence is first and foremost. Then figuring out the shipping and getting a good box, either factory box and then MAKING another cardboard box to surround it or buy a plastic case from Gander Mountain and MAKING a cardboard box to surround that one too. It may be a bit overboard but you must protect the goods! Shipping it is a piece of cake also, all you need (for out of state) is the buyers FFL. Ship it to the FFL and you're fat.......... With GI you set a price, no negotiating. Gunbroker you can do it a number of ways ie; start at a buck, Buy It Now etc. PICS ARE YOUR FRIEND!! Round count? Modifications? Date of manufacture? All things to keep in mind for the ad.
  2. What part of NYS are you from?
  3. Ya, last Saturday I saw a TON of deer from Amherst to Canadice, all feeding in fields of some sort. One field (that I hunt!!) had 40 deer in it around 2:00pm. I though FOR SURE there would be a dozen or more sheds in that field...............................not a single shed. I couldn't believe it. They really can pack it in when the weather turns for the better, smart critters ain't they?!?!
  4. Awesome!! Congrats to you and your entire family.
  5. These days there isn't a BAD .22 shell. They are all good if you can find the damn things.
  6. It's not a varmint and doesn't have a beaver tail forend. You need to figure out if it's a number one or three.
  7. Is it a beavertail forend with a heavy barrel?
  8. Like this.................... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=382857518
  9. Is it a full stock, International? Either one is a cool gun..........
  10. Ahhhh, awesome! Good luck and take more pics this time.
  11. You can get a ton of info. from Gubroker but you must join. It is of course free and the resource is invaluable, IMO. Once you join you can go to "completed auctions" and see WTH the scoop is. Do you want to offer up what the gun is in question?
  12. I think you're giving crooks the benefit of being SOMEWHAT intelligent..................and that ain't happening.
  13. O crap.......I thought you were a proponent for Big Iron. Yea, Lord knows when trouble will find you. When you least expect it is when it'll go down I'd guess........................... Gizmo285 has it figured out too! Actually I'm still looking for another snubby, a S&W 342. It weights 11oz unloaded. Scarce as hens teeth I'm finding out........did find one at a fair price and handled it briefly at a recent gun show. It looked fairly tired but I've never handled a scandium framed gun for more than a couple minutes. We'll see.........................................
  14. A gun that is too big and sits at home in the safe is NFG also.
  15. Absolutely true, as long as you know exactly where your day will take you. If all of a sudden you get a curve ball right down the chute, what you gonna do?? Lets say it is 25 outside and you're dressed in a heavy jacket and have your gun in a belt slide holster, covered by the jacket of course. Well now you decide to hit a restaurant with your lady friend. Are you going to sit there with your coat on? OK, lets say you have a sweater on covering your piece with a light jacket on. Sounds better but hey, now you MUST keep that sweater on all the time. How about this: Your dressed light, an un-tucked shirt over your gun, holstered on your belt still. You stop for a bite to eat (or you went to the bank etc.) and you run into and old girl friend who wants to give you a hug, now what? It isn't always easy. Pocket carry or ankle works best for me, generally. I really don't know how guys can lug a big 1911 or some such gun around all the time like they say they do..............plus the darn things yanking your drawers down. I know a great holster and belt make things MUCH easier!!

    DIY

I hang from the rear legs. Remove front legs at joint, stuff in chest cavity. Skin it down to the head/neck junction. Cut off head and hide together. Pull backstraps and tenderloins. ALL trimmings during this part go in chest cavity also. Remove shoulders. Take meat saw and severe spine at hind quarters. Tie off one hind quarter and let the other dangle, remove from pelvic area by cutting at hip socket. Remove pelvic area from remaining hind quarter, discard. Once hindquarters are off, then use meat saw to severe legs from same. All junk can now be either hauled to a hedge row (with permission of course) or bagged in a contractor bag and chucked to curb. Hide and head are separated, head to trash, hide to furrier or local trapper that sells them. Sweep floor, holler at dog for licking shed floor at the same time, douse cigar butts and turn off shed lights/radio. NOW you can start processing........................................ Boning knife, Reynolds Freezer paper, Saran Wrap, masking tape, Sharpie, grinder and a good imagination will get you to the finish line. Lots of other things you can do from canning, sausage, smoking and brining. Maybe more but I can't think of them now.
  17. Interesting stuff. I have some silver dollars I was going to peddle last year. I waited too long......... Some are from the 1800's and in very nice condition. I also have a bunch of paper money and some other odd ball coins I'd like to move but just don't trust anybody due to my lack of knowledge on the subject.
  18. I don't carry every day, sometimes it isn't practical. When I do, it could be my S&W 37, S&W Shield 9mm, Keltec P32 or my new S&W 642. Each one fits a different clothing/situational criteria. Ankle.....37 Pocket......warm weather, light clothes P32. Cold or heavier garb 642 Any time of year with a coat, sweater, untucked shirt..........Shield Take it for what its worth. Light is the only way to go for me..........YMMV
  19. Got the PM on your location, thanks. IF I didn't just get my 2012 Answer I'd be on this like white on rice..........my neighbor and member here should take a peek at this one. I'll mention it to him.
  20. I don't have any firm plans yet. I missed a few years also and didn't miss anything too exciting........ BUT, I am longing for those wonderful peanuts, fudge and getting short on paracord so I'll probably go.
  21. I've only life-size mounted one turkey and it has been on display at the Buffalo Gun Center since they remodeled 10 years (?) ago. My wife tired of it and frankly so did I...................... I have two tails mounted on a cabinet door in the basement that I stapled up there 23 years ago and they still look homemade! The only other "mount" I have is actually pretty special. I hunted extremely hard for this bird over the course of about 10 days before I killed him on the second last day of the season around 11:00am. Every couple/few days he'd move his roost sight a quarter to a half mile west. I had permission (gray area) for all the spots and finally on the day of reckoning he ran me all over this 300 acre woodlot. I knew he had a hen and just dogged him until she went to sit on her nest. All of a sudden his gobbles were closer.........he WAS coming! I killed him in a narrow patch of the woods, fields on both sides and hollering like he'd hadn't seen a hen in years. That was the most memorably birds I ever killed. He deserved a spot on the wall so I had Bernie Seitz do a tail mount with the back feather. No wings, spurs or beard........just enough to remember the bird and the hunt.
