  1. Boy O Boy I'd like to hear the story behind THAT statement!!! Ha...................kids!
  2. Gay............................................................... The gun was sweet, damn it anyways. The scope sits on my Ruger 10/22 International, of all things. Classy as all get out..........................................(like me!)
  3. And peppers are NOT cheap. My chicken smells goooooood! Another 20 minutes and out he/she jumps. Tomorrow is a fan favorite; baked ham. Maybe scallop potatoes & green bean casserole along with it........BAM!!
  4. I've never shot a 45-70, only shot a 30-30 a couple times. Lever actions never did anything for me but someday they might.............................I do get it though, cool guns as they are, they just never tripped my trigger. Had a pump action Remington 760 in a left hand version from the factory for a handful of years but swapped it out for a much superior gun, a bolt action 700, 270 Winchester. Now if you wanna talk cool guns, lets talk single shots. About ten years ago I acquired a Ruger No 1 International in 30-06. It had a 4x Leopold on it and I bought it for the scope. I paid 600 and sold it for 600 so the scope was a deal..........Damn I'd love to get that gun back and I will try. I sold it to a friend who hasn't touched it and NEVER will. Hmm, when he gets back from his vacation I'll message him a bit. Talk about a derailment fro the original topic.........sorry.
  5. I kid you not we had that two nights ago. Tonight is oven roasted chicken, baked potatoes and asparagus and yes, I'm at the helm. Wifey is at the salt mines........................................
  6. What's the white stuff running out of her belly button?
  7. I commented on this on a different site so........ -The guy has DEEP snow on either side of him that could easily caused him to get buried and then be at more risk from a attack. -The snowmobile may not have reverse and who knows how many other sleds are behind him (other than the second one at the end of the clip) and they'd all need to back up and who knows if that would have averted any more aggression from said moose. -That moose could have killed him on the first attack and then it came back for another round. -The shooter is carrying in "condition 3" and had to rack the slide to get things in gear. The first shot could have been a warning that the moose didn't heed and the resulting shots were pretty darn good IMO. Could he have quickly shot off the trail and went around? Would he have gotten stuck? Who else was with him and was that sled capable of the same maneuver? Did he provoke it by shouting and inching closer? Maybe........ Who took the first punch? Who finished it?
  8. IIRC you're going to WANT to kill him as dead men CAN'T sue you.
  9. Here is a youtube link to a very interesting 40 minute video made on the aftermath of the 1986 Miami FBI shootout. It is well worth the 40 minutes of your time to watch. It has some relevance here as penetration (or lack of) was a motivating factor in the FBI in changing up much of their thinking on calibers and bullets. It an eye opening video...............................................
  10. Plug a few of those .22 shells into a heavy winter jacket or a strung out drug addict and get back to me.
  11. Good heavens would that be boring.....................I ain't THAT old. Yet.
  12. Very boring cause it's an old mans gun. THAT is what I mean, it is so easy that old guys don't want things complicated so they grab an '06 because works no fuss no muss. Guns are easy to find and ammo can be found under the seat or in the glove box of most pick ups in the boonies. ((DON'T TELL KING ANDREW THOUGH))
  13. That's great! Family squabble? If so, glad you worked it out . BTW, we missed you immensely.
  14. Until just a few years ago I never would have agreed with the statement above. I do now. It does just flat out get the job done for anything in North America. Say what you want about a brown bear and a 30-06 but I'll bet there isn't a guide out there that wouldn't welcome you to camp packing a '06 and some premium 200gr bullets. But I digress. Not many of us will ever hunt big bears, but that 30-06 will handle any other big game here in NYS no problem. So if you want one gun to do it ALL, grab a 30-06. (It'll be boring as hell and soon you'll be jonesing for a 257 Roberts or 6mm Ackley. )
  15. Although I don't hunt them, I haven't seen one while deer hunting in a couple (maybe three) years. Actually I don't even remember hearing them drumming in the spring in a couple years. OK, I'll add 8N, 8H and 9H are the areas I hunt mostly.
  16. Yea, 167 posts when there SHOULD have been a couple dozen or so congratulating the OP on getting into the greatest sport on Earth. You guys really should to take a good long look in a mirror and see what you've become.
  17. And devalue the truck? I don't THINK so.......................................................
  18. Interesting read, thanks. I wonder how many shots were in excess of 75 yards?
  19. Nice deal here.................................. (I have the same gun and you sure as heck wouldn't get mine for 3bills!)
  20. Little E "June Bug" WINS!!!! That was worth staying up for.
