  1. One of the wildest places I've seen was an chicken farm loaded with laying hens. What an operation. It would almost cure you of eating eggs. Almost......
  2. I have a Kahr CW9 and it has been very good. I'd trust it if the chips were down.
  3. Tough to beat a S&W J frame. Plenty of variations to choose from...... I have been carrying, on & off, a M37 Airweight since 1986. It is easy to forget that it is on your ankle (my favorite carry) and do some dumb things like crossing creeks & streams. <grin> If it is NOT small & compact, you will not carry all the times that you should/would if it was a smaller gun. Sometimes a Keltec P32 is the choice depending on clothing. Good luck. Lots of great choices these days.
  4. Here I am telling you how much I like a s/a gun and what did I do yesterday? Buy a Sako Hunter LH 25-06, sight unseen! Crazy............. The guy I bought it from (on another board) I do not know from Adam. It was just one of those times that it all "felt right"! The gun/guy are both in Birmingham, Alabama. Nervous, your damn right I am............<grin>
  5. Sorry, I forgot to add a <grin>. <grin>
  6. If you make it down for breakfast and only on the weekend, the eggs benedict is SUPERB! Friday fish is the best I ever hand, no kidding.
  7. Mountain lion, no doubt.
  8. And then what, ask if the have Prince Albert in a can?
  9. I've been going to Ace's since the early 70's. Mostly Friday fish fry or breakfast, hunting season regular I guess. I must confess...........gulp........Ralph Angelo has never cut my hair. And NOW he NEVER will. <grin>
  10. Scary alright....... I hate close calls! I'll be checking out chaps. I really enjoy running a saw but don't burn any wood myself. I've owned my own saws for almost 35 years, doing odd jobs for friends & family. I would cut wood for free anytime!! Closest close call in a long time.
  11. The near accident AND the tornadoes were yesterday. Old news..........<grin>
  12. The entire process seems like a real circle jerk. Between the Youth hunt and the rifle bill for Ontario County these guys don't apear to be able to find the FREAKIN page let alone get on it together. I just bought another rifle yesterday, a Sako Hunter AV action, left hand in 25-06. Sight unseen from a guy in Alabama. Wyoming County here I come.........<<grin>> Ralph Angelo ain't cutting my hair anymore and Aces can board up the windows & doors. Tell Beth, Milt and all the rest I send my love!
  13. I was running my Stihl 026 yesterday at my uncle's cabin and had a scary deal........we were cutting up some tops after my uncle had some logging done and it was towards the end of the day. I was tired and got sloppy. I just finished cutting up an 10' log into bite size pieces, stood up and the last log started rolling down hill. I went to kick it and the top of my left leg brushed up against the still barely spinning chain. A 3" tear in my pants gave me quite a scare. Damn......................
  14. I was in Naples yesterday afternoon and all we had was 1/8" rain. Glad everybody sounds OK here.
  15. Looks like the People in Pekin got Pounded by the Powerful storm. Tree on top of a car on the news a few minutes ago. I am amazed that we didn't get more of a storm after seeing that radar. Man it looked really bad.
  16. Looks like some NASTY weather is upon us. The radar is showing a train of storms like I've never seen before and the weather men sound worried. We just had a quick blast of wind, rain & lightening. Hold on to your hats and be safe.
  17. This is a terrible display of work by the DEC. They really should be ashamed.
  18. They don't really look like camera thieves. Pot smokin' hippies, yes..
  19. Nothing wrong with the 270. Personally I'd opt for a 260 Remington if you'd like a bit more "umph" than a 243 Winchester offers. Great caliber with plenty of zip to zap any deer or bear you might bump into. No recoil and the gun, in theory, should be lighter and handier to lug around those South Bristol Hills. I like all the short action calibers and own (for deer hunting) a 243 Win., 257 Roberts, 260 Remington, 7mm-08 and 300WSM. Why, you ask, do I prefer a short action over a long action? One time on a deer hunt in Texas, I "short stroked" a cartridge in my 270Win. and caused a bit of a jam up in the action port. No big deal but since then I have always sought out S/A guns and calibers. Hopefully we can mull this over MORE when the rifle bill is passed!!
  20. 486? HOLY COW! Man, you guys are good!
