  1. Fiasco? That's putting it mildly but I'll take it! The entire county? I understand the reason (large open fields and distant deer) but am quite surprised. The article sounded very positive and I CAN'T wait!! I've been using the ML for the past 5-6 years almost exclusively in Ontario County and although I enjoy it immensely would gladly dump my powder for a chance to tote the rifle...........!!
  2. oh, never mind. I mighta' got a warning for what I was gonna' post. I don't want to tarnish my perfect record. <<grin>>
  3. We finally got some rain. Probably .75" or so earlier today. I think they said all we had up until now was .50" since the FIRST week of June! Top that!
  4. 10:00 news said it was a doooooosey of a storm. Hope all are safe.
  5. Details? Did your dad enter his in the NYS Big Buck Club? Congrats!
  6. How many acres do you own? What's with the notes on the game? Tide or Cheer? <grin>
  7. Really? I think your thinking way too hard on this stuff. Put out a salt block like the oldtimers did! How'd all this stuff work out for you last year?
  8. I've never shot a 25-06 and you could count all the 30-06 rounds I've shot on two hands, all at the bench for my father. 270 & 280 are a different story as I had a Rem 700 LH 270 and a Rem LH KS 280 that have both had plenty of rounds sparked down the barrel. Killed enough deer and a few antelope to fill a couple Tacoma's to capacity! Thanks for all the help guys.
  9. Hey, thanks for the kind offer bubba! Unfortunately right after dinner I placed an order with Grafs & Sons and got a bag of 50ct Remington Brass coming along with some other components I needed. Figures....... Thanks again.
  10. Thanks bubba. Sounds like you and Pygmy both had good results. Yes, I'll be reloading for it, that's the best part of a new gun IMO! It'll could be a week or two before it is here. Then I'll need to source some rings for the unique dovetailed receiver on Sako rifles. As for a scope, I have two available in mothballs right now. A varix II 2-7 and a varix III 2.5-8. I think the second one will go on it until I can come up with a smokin' deal on a varix III 3.5-10. The hunt is on now for dies (Redding or RCBS) brass and bullets. I'll be so cash poor I won't be able to afford paper targets...........<<grin>>
  11. I'm thinking his memory just got a bit fuzzy when he saw who's looking for the info. <grin>
  12. Here is a shot of it from the seller.......
  13. Dan...Other: AV hunter, left hand. Wood (yikes!) stock. Looks to be a good value but all I've seen is pics, actually made the deal without seeing the pics first. Took a flyer on a weak moment the other night and am hoping for the best. <<grin>> 120 A Frame wouldn't be a bad idea if furry black critters were lurking and a tag was in hand. Hmmmm......
  14. Good observation and plausible.
  15. Looks like she got "lucky" at least twice last fall. <<grin>>
  16. Anybody mess with a 25-06 for deer? I have a Sako 25-06 Remington inbound and I'm looking for load suggestions. Thanks....

If ONLY we could get Gary Alt to straighten things out in NYS.
  18. I had a gray squirrel in a Havaheart yesterday morning. No need to kill him at this point so he got released on good behavior, but still on parole.......
  19. Not much spare time on YOUR hands!! I bet your single!
  20. Swap out the card for a customized card with a pic of my azz on it.
  21. Take the camera and leave a note on the tree with my phone number.
