  1. Look for cut fields with GEESE in them!! Seriously, look for small flocks plunked down in a field; hay, oats, winter wheat, pretty soon cut corn also. As far as blinds go, it doesn't take much to pull the wool over their eyes. Get a dozen and a half dekes out and flag them in! The really big thing is to have a field that they are feeding in NOW. If you can spot them on a field in late morning, they'll probably be back late in the afternoon and/or the next morning. Ride around close to dusk, look for flocks flying and follow them to the spot they are feeding in. Two people in the car/truck makes this safer. <grin>

You HAVE to stay put. Bow or gun. If your out mooching around your just going to be sending the deer down to the guy sitting on his butt. Rarely does a guy get a shot at a deer with the bow while stalking. Climb a tree and chill. Take a book, listen to your IPod, snack on some sardines or spank the monkey. When you learn to stick it out, you'll be dangerous!
  3. And........?? You get any good pics or learn anything??
  4. Thanks for bringing this thread to the top. I also have a box with some lead/copper stories going on in it! If we are lucky, Pygmy will have a Barnes TSX from his moose that he can show us that lodged under the skin on the off side shoulder on a quartering away shot found while skinning & quartering!! I'll see if I can get some pics up of a few recovered slugs I have.
  5. Brainstorm...........If you had multiple cameras, you could really put a test on some of the scents that are pimped each year. How about a camera spying on a mock scrape, anybody want to try it?? Unfortunately many might be disappointed.............
  6. I've never used anything to hook the deer in or keep them on a spot for glamor shots. Those that are, what do you use? I've know for a fact pears work <grin> what about commercial products that work? I REFUSE to use the B word................................................!!.

    Fufu Arrows

Certainly easy to make your own flu flu's. Wrap a full length unburned feather around the shaft and glue it up as you go or 4 fletch some shafts with unburned feathers in a Bitzenberger or similar fletching jig. I guess all this is easy IF you have a jig and unburned full length feathers! Shoot 'em up and have some fun. (Don't worry about accuracy, you won't hit anything anyway<grin>)

DIY You'll be pleased with the job and you can look at the guy every morning when shaving. <grin>
  9. I hope the size of the rack on the deer your shooting at the extended ranges has nothing to do with the "right circumstances"
  10. Bungees or straps? It's not like they have much of a job to do anyway. Hook it on and fire it up. fasteddie.......hit the switch in your yard and see how it shoots. Toss out some bread and snap some pics of the birds & squirrels etc. Maybe hit it with the garden hose, well, never mind on that idea! $37 is interesting........................
  11. It's really not a good idea, IMO. As stated by Doc, you just don't know WHEN that deer is going to make a move, do you? Professional archers? Give me a break............................. You think that deer they shot on the show is the only one they shot at? Once in a while the programs on TV show a guy taking a shot and missing, funny they RARELY show a bad hit that results in a lost animal. USUALLY, they show a dead deer that they left over night to "stiffen" up and miraculously found at first light! Fenced area, dogs, helicopter, PODS? (who remembers PODS? I'll bet the old codgers here do!) Do what you want, ICGAF but don't show it on TV. Shoot a straight >>>--------->
  12. I'd bet you a cold beer his PB account is just fine and that he deleted the picture from the PB account. No worries, Bud Light works for me!
  13. Did you take the picture? Terrible stuff for many folks in NYS.

All day works for me! This shot tells a story as the time is accurate................................
  17. Any luck? I used to do a fair amount of early goose hunting up in Niagara County but it's been probably 10 years or so since I last went. I spent plenty of time cruising around and knocking on doors trying to get permission. I had a few pretty good farms up on Aiken Rd, Rt 31 and Bear Ridge Rd. I'd go in a heartbeat if I was invited but my days of pounding the pavement for a farm are dwindling! I'll bring a some full bodied dekes and the coffee!
  18. Hang a treestand........................(works for me, grin)
  19. WNYBuckHUnter.....great bucks you have, good luck!
  20. I don't think NY is building bucks any bigger, I'd say the introduction of the trail cam has shown people all the bucks that they will probably never kill!! All those nocturnal priks that disappear when the nimrods show up!!
  21. MMMMMMmmmmmmm, hang on and I'll go check.............................Model #119436C I don't know yet how good the audio feature is going to work out, all I've heard so far is crickets and wind!
  22. No, you can set it I think for up to a minute. I like 10 seconds with a 1 minute reset. It'd be cool if you could get a camera to do both stills and video. (well, I wouldn't be surprised if they already do have one that does that or just stack to cameras on top of each other!?!?)
  23. DON'T BRING THE FILM CAMERA! I hope you have a great trip and bring back tons of pics, meat, horns and memories! (extra points for strip joint pics) See ya at Frans this fall??
  24. If you click on the pic you'll notice they are videos. I had some other HH bucks but they were pics not video.
