At the end of the day we have had good luck in areas with gravel and always found all kinds of weed seeds in them when dressing.

Great job!

Well done! Nothing like waiting till the fat lady sings.........

West of the Mississippi, a fair amount of game animals are skinned/quartered or boned out and taken out on a horse or on your back. Piece-o-cake. I've done it before, east of the Mississippi on my own deer and helped quarter a bull elk I shot in Colorado that went out on Ernie the mule's back It really is a cool experience that everyone should do at least once.

Take care of your wife and family first. Don't ever take a relationship with a loved one for granted. 19 months, 19 years or whatever. I've been thrown a curve ball and have received a wake up call, I am changed in so many ways you can't believe it. I killed the biggest of my life a couple weeks ago and right now it means nothing to me. My wife and I have just started the rest of our lives together with love beyond comprehension. No "smiley" can show my joy!

They are right under your nose! I've seen flocks in the thousands in Niagara County! (while hunting geese in Sept. )

I'm talking about PA, $3-5,000 per acre. -
Gas drilling (fracting) and your hunting property

My "imaginary" story above is not imaginary. It is true, it is the story of a farmer who's land I have hunted for 24 years in Tioga County PA. It is happening all over that area. I know $3200 an acre has been done and maybe going as high as $5000/acre. I could run those numbers easy in my head............................ All that plus the royalties after production starts which could be a couple years down the road after the lines are in to transport the gas. I've seen the well sites and roads they put in, they spare nothing. Take a ride through the Wellsboro area, the streets are paved in gold!! -

somebody plunks $1,000,000. down in front of you to lease your 340 acres, promises you royalties, your in you 60's and have busted your nuts on the farm for 50 years and don't have much to show for it. tell me you wouldn't take it........................ sorry for the lack of caps, my sweet wife is asleep under my left arm! -

Let's keep this issue as active as possible and see if we can find someone to take the lead. I'll be the first to admit I'm a follower, not a leader I don't think it would take much to get this passed. Anything that would POSSIBLY add to license revenue should interest the state in this time of need.

As stated by others, bad plan. No real reason to do it anyway.

Jetboil Cooking Appliance

I found it............................... -
You ever have one pile up in the brush, cattails, shallow muddy areas woods, grass etc? Ever have a cripple run through any of those areas?
-
Well done!
-
IMO, duck hunting is ABOUT the dog. I've done it without a dog but if hunting puddle ducks it's really not ethical as you lose plenty of cripples in the places I hunted. Big water hunting you can do it without a dog.

Jetboil Cooking Appliance

I have one, but can't find it! :-[ The damn thing is probably in a 5gal bucket with some other camping stuff left in the garage after an early ML hunt in PA. I was going to take it for the PA opener of gun this past Monday and Tuesday but came up empty handed on the search. It sure would have helped as it was cold enough in the wind. I'll look some more today for it. -
Are these knives for cutting deer or kitchen use? If your butchering Bambi, all you need is a flexible blade boning knife. I buy mine from the local commercial knife sharping business. They are the knives that they can no longer rent to restaurants. $3 apiece and sharpen up easy on my Spyderco sticks. If they are for daily use in the kitchen, you may want to spend a bit more money for some higher end ones but, as always YMMV

Interesting pics Doc. Probably is from a scuffle with another buck.

Here we go................................

Ahhhh, Lima. That's the big buck country! I hunt up on Doran Rd. later in the season. Good luck.
