  1. I did a double take on this until I checked the posting date!
  2. Anybody that was fortunate enough to shoot a buck that may be worthy of a entry into the NYS Big Buck Club , Pope & Young or for goodness sakes Boone & Crockett Club have them scored officially yet? I shot one that might make NYS BBC but I haven't rushed out to get him measured yet. I'll have to see who is available here in the Buffalo area.
  3. It's nice to see all the first time kills here. Congratulations and all the best for your future hunts. Hopefully your venison is enjoyed by your entire family! It is an amazing bonus to a hobby that can be enjoyed cooked, caned, smoked etc. Horns are nice but memories and meals are better!
  4. Sounds like a project for this weekend. Any shortcuts on the cabbage as far as freezing?? I DO like to eat!
  5. I've seen newborn fawns on May 1st. You know......early in, early out!
  6. Last thing they'll be smelling is gun powder............................ ;D
  7. Funny how things go. A friend who can't hunt anymore used to insist on egg salad sandwiches when we'd go to PA for the flintlock season. I always had a love for 'em anyway so I'd make them and he would bring the coffee and a couple soda pops. Well, that "tradition" has continued for all opening day hunts for the last 10 years or so with the exception off adding green olives to the recipe! Sardines, smoked mussels, cheese and crackers round out the larder. I'm not starving or worrying about odors!!
  8. The deer in the photo in question is from the Canadice area and the date on the picture is accurate. The deer pic in this post is probably related to the one above........................
  9. Now.... read it again..... I thought I spelled something wrong. <grin>
  10. 30-06 or 308 are great choices. What glass is going on board?
  11. 8x is plenty east of the Mississippi in my opinion. Try out a really good pair of 8x30 or 8x32 top end binos and you be impressed. You'll get more enjoyment out of great binos than you will any gun or bow. Spend the money once and you'll NEVER regret it.
  12. Here he is again from the day before..............
  13. I have appprox. 50 Traditional Bowhunter Magazines, dating from 1989 to 2000. A few complete years but most are not. Condition is from excellent to fair, loose covers are probably the worst of it. Also have 19 Professional Bowhunter Magazines from the 90's that are in excellent shape. You can have them all for $30 if picked up in person in Amherst. If you want them mailed, you pay actual shipping. Some terrific reading and history here if your interested.
  14. In the past two days I've seen 2 bucks still carrying their head gear. For the record, Amherst and Cheektowaga are the areas.
  15. From a Youth hunt with my son a couple years ago, our Lab Jenny......
  16. Did you have a question? <grin>
  17. That's the one I was thinking of. POS
  18. Well done. I don't recall reading, flint or cap??
  19. He looks like the guy who had the bogus sheds last year that tried to pass them off as pick ups from down around Chautauqua Lake. Slug of a buck either way. Need more info, can we check Snoops??!!
