  1. Great shots wooly! That doe is a load! Wow, you think she's carrying? And the birds are exceptional, well done. What is your camera gear set up? I'm guessing it's not a P&S deal?
  2. Paid $3.359/gallon at Smokin Joe's today in Sanborn. Also scored a propane cylinder refill for $14. Just enough savings to by a couple packs of cigars ;D

    Why?

I think the reason why I liked it as a kid is because the fact that at a young age and living in a neighborhood with folks that frowned on little hoodlums running around with guns, the bow & arrow "appeared" to be a safer thing to do. I quickly changed that perception by shooting arrows straight up, whacking mallards in a local creek and constantly trying to perfect that darned flaming arrow shot. The days of the old Bear fiberglass recurves and the original lemonwood longbow are gone for me now but the memories are still very fresh in my mind. I really truly pity the poor kids (including mine) these days that are missing out on all those great outdoor activities because of the "electronic age" that we are in.
  5. Another brain surgeon in the second video.
  6. I think the guy in the first video needs a stick to the head. Stupid azz. Now I'll watch the second clip.....
  7. Years ago we roosted lots of birds. Seems like things have changed because we don't get many birds to answer like we used to. I guess, looking back we spent quite a bit more time trying to roost them because we had the time and inclination! One time while monkeying around I got a gobble at 11:00 PM!! (get your mind out of the gutter, it WAS a turkey) ;D
  8. I have a few coyote pics, this one is handy.........................
  9. I say it with love... :-* ....my wife gives grief when I say that as she was raised in the town and we live nearby in Amherst. It could be worse, I think!
  10. My every day carry knife is a Chris Reeve Sebenza. It will usually dress out a couple deer each year only because it's always with me, day in and day out. I've had it for about 5 years and haven't lost it YET! For more special occasions, I'll take a Gene Ingram, Dozier, Denning, Menefee or a Wayne Clay. (Did I mention I have a thing for knives?) Folders are my go-to blade but I have a renewed interest in fixed blades.
  11. I don't think I'll go. It is sooooo predictable and full of junk it's not really worth going, IMO. I'm getting tired of this type of show. Kind of like a NWTF banquet................ Now, on the other hand, the gun show at the K of C in Cheekt-a-vegas has some potential!
  12. Not looking so good........... http://www.mpnnow.com/ontario_county/x904831674/Rifle-bill-before-Ontario-County-Board-of-Supervisors-expected-to-go-down
  13. Not sure what a "glock ws-40's" is but here's some info that may help............ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_State_Police (For those that don't want to click on the link, NYS Police use the Glock 37 in 45GAP)
  14. NYS Police carry the Glock in 45 GAP, IIRC. Get a 40 cal. Glock Model 23 and call it good. They are carried by many PD and can be purchased used quite often. I don't think there are many, if any PD issuing 9mm anymore. Are you required to get a handgun as soon as you get your permit? What County are you in?
  15. Stake it down or the neighbor may be using it on opening weekend and the mice love that insulation .(trust me I know!) Other than that it looks like a winner.
  16. I'd not sweat it. I'm sure they'll come through with your winnings. If not, I'd gladly send you my 2 years remaining on my Field & Stream subscription, it's pretty worthless IMO. I'm not positive but I may even have a spare cap and can call. The Butt Out Tool would make a good gift for somebody you don't like! The knife, well that's a good thing. You already won the best prize the day you killed that deer.
  17. IMO the neck is a horrible target, too easy to screw the pooch with a muffed shot. I shoot to kill and the lungs are the biggest target. Keep it tight in behind the front shoulder. 5lbs of ground is a small price to pay. If your afraid your deer is going to head for the neighbors property, knock out the front running gear and that should shut things down PDQ.

    Trophy Room

Was your dad a taxidermist? Lots of good memories I'm sure.
  19. What did you replace it with? And what ammo?
  20. This is my 223 AI. Left hand Remington action, McMillan Edge stock, 21" Krieger 1-12" twist #3 contour barrel, Talley mounts, Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40. Sid Goodling did the chambering, fitting and bedding of the gun. It's a shooter.......
  21. Until that storm, I killed my fair share of spring gobblers on the west side (east facing) of Canadice Lake. After that storm, as far as I was concerned, they could die of old age . That was quite a storm. My uncle has some property south of Hunt Hollow and also east facing and that was HAMMERED also. We had our own version of an ice/snow storm here in the Buffalo area in October of 2006. That one did a bit of damage also!
  22. Hey Bendog.... Here is a link to a photo that you published 5 years ago except you guys omitted the doe for some reason. Too much blood? http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php/topic,3705.0.html
  23. Nice bone. I'd like to see another picture of the 143 buck. Is your friend an official measurer (sp) ?
