  1. If it is the same buck, and it probably is, there's quite a bit of difference in the mass! Wow. Good luck, I hope you kill him.
  2. That's what I figured on the clips. When I put my harness on, it goes on before my coat and I pull the strap/caribiner over my right shoulder and just tuck the 'biner under my chest strap and don't have any issues with noise. Then the coat goes on over the harness. Only issue I have with a harness is the occasional time that I need to get out of it FAST to have a talk with Mother Nature. :'(
  3. What are you using the spring clips for? I have one, attached to my harness that I hook onto the prusik hitch when I get to the base of the tree. As for the white rope/line, get a packet of brown RIT die and toss it and the line into a 5 gal bucket. Done deal!
  4. Physical size has nothing to do with what a person can "handle". A 243 is a very mild, light recoiling gun that is absolutely more than capable for any deer walking. A 7mm bullet kills better than a 6mm slug? As often quoted by many more experienced than I, "shot placement trumps bullet diameter any day" Spend some time at the range with the boy with a brick of .22's, a scoped rifle and some reactive targets. He'll be hooked. Then call the taxidermist. ;D
  5. So is the rope that comes with these safety systems geared towards bow hunters the right stuff? It sure isn't the same rope a mountain climber is using. Maybe it's "good enough" because, in theory, it's generally a straight shot to the ground with no abrasion?
  6. I didn't miss the Punch Line . It's an old joke sonny ! : A weak joke at that Pops!
  7. I think they missed the punch line................................................................... Did he give you a gratis snow cone?
  8. May as well sign your DMP tags over to a friend.............
  9. I've had one for about 15 years. Mine is a fiberglass version the made with the Orvis logo on it. Wide and fairly flat bottom, cane seats, removable cane back rests and teak gunwale. She's a beauty that doesn't see as much water as I'd like.
  10. If they can't figure out how to write a law for mandatory hunter orange, how in the hell are they going to figure out a harness law?? No way will they do that.
  11. Dick's obituary was in the Buffalo News today. Amazing, no mention of it in the "Outdoors" section.
  12. I saw the damage hogs can do while deer hunting in Alabama in 2008 and 2009. You DON'T want them on your property!
  13. Dick Kirby passed away. I believe it was from complications of a recent surgery. Certainly made an impression on me and my turkey hunting. Very generous man. He'll be missed. Prayers to the family.

Aaa, your supposed to remove it?
  15. It's all about choice, your choice or mine. Pretty simple. I let plenty of little guys walk, when I want. The TV shows have plenty of guys brainwashed into thinking that you let these little guys go and pretty soon you have all these wallhagers just out feeding in the food plot or cut corn fields. The places they film those shows are off limits to us regular Joe's. You wanna play, you gotta pay. Hang on while I put on my Scent Lok suit, ball cap and load up the T/C Encore........... ???
  16. Just a teaser for a TV show. Enjoy the show..........
  17. I have gotten a bit lazier (really) in the past few years and left some hang on stands up for three years. I think it's is a big mistake. Seems like the chains/hardware etc. could deteriorate to a point of failure. I'm going to head down to the area I hunt in the next 10 days or so and remove some for good and reset the others. I have 8 up and didn't hunt them all anyway last year. Really only need to cover that dreaded east wind (not always!) in a couple spots and of course the old standby southwest wind stands will stay. For those other times I'll use a climber. I would NOT recommend leaving stands over the off season. Do as I say, not as I do.
  18. Wait 'till the 260 "boolits" start flying
  19. My biggest problem.......BUCK FEVER!! (or doe fever) ;D
  20. Stack 'em up like cord wood.......
