  1. Pav, from my experience it will be well worth the time, I learned a lot from our forester and have ongoing dialog with him. Basically he walked the whole property answered questions and made recommendations. Then a couple weeks later provided a detailed plan. The plan was broken down into sections. Each section was detailed with what habitat was in the section and what recommendations were laid out. You an also apply for funding. The funding is a decent amount, not a bad deal, they pay you to make improvements.
  2. Wow crazy. My dad had something kinda simlar, shot a nice buck, drops it, unloads his gun loweres it down from th stand, have way down the tree the deer gets up and takes off running before he could get out of the tree. Never found it.

Thanks, im assuming they will cover my wilsons meat. I think about all the hrs hunting this yr. All the time cutting them up and vacuum sealing each steak. It will be interesting to see what they say in regards to all my deer steaks. If I have to buy regular steaks till next fall that's a pretty penny.

Well GE repair man came friday and said it wasnt fixable. So I had to send them my receipts. Will see what they say.
  5. So if everything goes as planned will have this cleared this spring. I originally was thinking having a dozer clear out the stumps but ive also started thinking about renting a skidsteer with the mulcher attachment. I guess some advantages of using a mulcher would be no loss of top soil but it only cuts them down to the ground still kinda leaving a stump. Thoughts?
  6. A view from way above, kind cool to see it from that view.

  8. Had a great date with the saw, chipped away at it for almost 5 hrs today. With the winds today i didnt cut any new trees down but i still had a much laying there from the spring. Half is done, I'm just past the pintch point in the design and can see the far corner tape. Great feeling to be back out working with the land.

I got the freezer on dec 5th. Loaded the meat the next day. Last thur it was cold. So somewhere between then and the weekend it stopped because this morning it wasnt even very cold. Do i take a steak out and smell it once it thaws?
  12. So I picked up my deer meat from wilsons almost $300 dollars worth. My wife said we needed a chest freezer. So we picked up a new GE for a good price that night. The next day we loaded all my deer steaks (1 1/2 deer worth) and loins along with all my meat from wilsons. This am I go to grab some bologna and its not cold. I frantically feel around and just about everything is well thawed. I quickly thru everything back in our other two freezers. My wife grabbed some steak out last Thursday. Do you think the meat could still be good? I doubt it. What should I do?

  23. Great!! Id say before you spend money on discs and plows determine what your planting. For my WI seed i just scuff up the ground with a York rake, spread the seed and drive over it with a tractor or 4wheeler. Check out their site, they have a bunch of informative info. Also growing deer tv with dr grant woods has some good info as well, you can pull up episodes right from their website. Another spot is the qdma forum on food plots, tons of info as well.
