I hadnt seen a deer all gun season so this am i decided to scrap stand hunting and hunt out of the cabin back in the woods. Lit the wood stove to warm it up. Almost paid off with a decent looking 8pt, but couldnt get a clear shot, as he hugged the top side of the food plot thats in progress (downed trees and brush). Trying back yard 2night

I don't like seeing anyone while I'm hunting. I also don't like the idea of gun hunting state lands because id be un sure where fellow hunters could be. As far as less hunters, the state land I drive by opening weekend looked like a bills game parking lot. I sure as hell wouldn't feel very comfortable walking thru them woods.

Turkey is all set till cook time. I took over t day cooking last yr. I used this recipe last yr and it came out so damn moist i was afraid it wasnt cooked enough. I thru on some pandora neil diamond station and got this all set to go. yeah kinda gay.. have at it.......Id throw some sarcasm

If you want it only for bow id go with a perrenial thats availible spring summer and fall. Ive always liked the Whitetail Inst alfa rack. Ive planted a seasonal blend on small plots in the past and deer wiped them out so fast I had nothing the rest of the season.

Was in 8N sat and sunday morning. I busted a couple walking in at 610. Didn't see squat the rest on the day, neither did my brother, my dad saw one small buck he let pass only to get shot by the neighbors. I did see 19 turkeys which is the most ive ever seen up there. I pulled cam by one of my stands and one of the larger bucks I have multiple pics of cruised by my stand fri am and Friday night.

yeh stick with ethanol free. Dealer told me that if you don't run the machine all the time for long periods it gums up with reg gas.

Great question grow.. for me I have a few, 1) More trail cams the better, I've had a banner year for buck pics. I went from 1 to 3 cams 2) Scouting all the time, the buck I took this yr was near the corner of our property line, I guess I never really looked at it because of that, but scouting this yr and finding a matching set (10pt) and finding an old scrape line got me wondering. Setting a cam u this summer confirmed this was a good spot. We've had the land about 30yrs now. 3) Make sure I have a shooting lanes all around the stands. I recommended my brother sit in my favorite stand last week and it almost paid off when this big buck came thru and hung around behind my stand (down wind) at less than 20yrds but had no clear shot. He was bummed to say the least.

At this point i just have to wake up Sat morning. Everythings been set to go since early oct. Cloths were re washed sunday night. 308 was already tested this summer and was still dead on! I'm just racking my brain on where I want to set up sat.

Yeah why wait, ive been bit by the coyote bug and its not a good feeling when you find your deer the next moning completly tore to pieces.

Ill wash my cloths with sometype of sent eliminator and i use those scented dryer sheets and store my cloths in plastic tote with one of those earth scent waffers. Is it fool proof, nope but i hope it helps alittle. Playing the winds of course is your best option when setting up your stands. On a spot I used to hunt I has a stand on the west side of a funnel and for every 100 deer that would pass upwind one would go down wind. I could have rolled in crap and been able to shoot a deer out of it.

Entertaining threads turnings sour fast. At the end of the day there are way bigger issues out there beside weather or not someone shoots a deer a few minutes after legal sunset. Lets talk about gun control....jk

Haha good times!! I had a similar experience I laid on the ground one and the buck was within a few feet of me and I kinda got scared and quickly sat up.
