  1. Yep, I not only paint them Camo colors I usually add a wood frame around the top where I can nail branches to it to help cover me up better. I wish I had pics but I don’t.
  2. I know if I leave a deer till morning it’s guaranteed to be picked clean.
  3. I’ve been farting and clenching a crap all morning. Clenching no more!!
  4. Well make sure you guys start a thread for us to follow along!! Tonight again I had a bunch barking 15min after sunset tonight.
  5. I ended up seeing 2 doe and a 7pt. Son and I will give it a go tomorrow morning!!
  6. Honestly I feel like the Broadhead debate is similar to the bullet debate. Either bullet will do the job as will the Broadheads.
  7. Thanks, we finished it last summer!! It’s 1 1/2 to 2 acres nestled back in the woods. It’s been a lot of fun!
  8. First hunt out of the redneck!! It’s kinda awesome the wind factor is nearly eliminated!!
  9. Your right a lot of the small mom and pop shops are gone. Arkport Cycle in Hornell is pretty good size, Cycle stop in Rochester, maddies in Dansville. All I can think of.
  10. Our land is also partly level and partly hillside. It seems to blow in every direction half the time. I read a book where they suggested making wind maps on your property, and that always baffled me as an impossible task when the winds are darn near unpredictable.

    Question

Put a stand just on your side!
  13. Son wasn’t feeling well and we only stayed an hr, no deer on stand. We went over to check cams and look for his arrow but the food plots to tall and thick and can’t find it yet. Did bust a decent buck on walk over. This pics from soon after climbing down I looked up and took a pic, pretty colors on the maple
  14. I love pine trees as stand locations. Always cover around and above you. I always feel kinda all nestled in them and when ever I’m looking for a new stand location pine/hemlocks first tree I look for.
  15. Spot looks like deer should be piling out of the brush.
  16. Good luck in the morning gents!! Son and I are hitting the woods first thing. Hoping my son gets an opportunity at some big bones now! Will be setup on an flat with some oaks trees surrounding us!!
  17. Sorry for your loss, I’ve only met Larry who’s great and the others see like stand up guys as well!!
  18. For anyone that has or knows a young kid who’s just starting out here’s the setup my son had. Bow was set at 35 and he could pull it back fairly easy but I opted to leave as adding hunting cloths and a cold day could make higher weight tougher plus holding full draw is more challenging. My biggest concern with the lower draw weight was in my mind he needed a smaller fixed blade broad head & the muzzy’s did very well!! Double lung clean pass through.
  19. I posted the story in our journal thread under sons first season but thought I’d post a pic here of his first deer for anyone who didn’t see it in the thread. I’ve been blown away by the fact that my 12yr old can bring home meat for table. Crazy and so proud!
  20. Ha, he sure did. He said he was shaking big time right after!!
