Well I hunted behind the house tonight, my son was at a party so I was solo. Had a few doe come by my enclosed stand one of the bigger ones gave me a nice 16 yrs slight q away shot. Unfortunately after aiming the pin at the heart and hitting the release the arrow went dead nuts in the guts :-(. After watching them all run off a ways I got down and confirmed my thoughts when I found blood. At this point my son got home and came back. I followed it a little bit finding the arrow full of blood and grit. This was around 5:20 ish. We headed out, had dinner and hung out till about 8:15 and we took up the trail (it started raining) picked up last blood and followed it fairly easily, not a ton but enough to know it's direction with out alot of effort. We kept heading thru some thick crap (never did she bed) I kept saying to myself ugh were gonna have to give it till morning, but I kept inching further finally finding her! Glad my son was with me to help drag her out!! One and only pic, it was raining and she needed to get cleaned out asap. The field a couple doors down the road from me has 25 doe in it the other evening, I didn't even put a dent in the population.

Pretty lame sit, saw a 1pt. Gonna stick it out till 10 then so some quick scouting.

Seeing the sun seems almost impossible right now.

Well we busted 4 doe out of the plot, saw a pretty nice 4pt and a doe, kind of a lame sit. I pulled both cam cards on the plot, had a crap ton of pics over the last 2 weeks, some pretty nice bucks showing up, especially one 2 mornings ago freshing up a mole scrape 10yrds I front of my stand. Ever drive to your spot and forget your jacket? That might be the first for me. Luckily I put my back tag on my backpack so I at least have that.

Heading out tonight for only my 4th sit. I came down with an pneumonia soon after feeling better from my concussion. Yeah it's been a long month and a half. Taking my 11 yr old with me and doe's or big bucks are on the docket tonight!

Nice, thanks for showing the progress. It looks as though they have come along really well. I would deff keep some sort of protection around the trees for at least a few more yrs. Do u remember where you ordered the chestnut trees?

Didn't seem like a dig to me!! I get both sides as I've been on both sides. This past summer was out first experience on a competitive travel team and it opened our eyes to how much better baseball can be when each kid is really good. 2yrd ago my son's town team (just play ball and have fun) was terrible, team won I think 2 games and my son didn't have much fun at all and the coach was a joke on top of it.

Haha, it was out first yr on the team so we we're clueless about the parent drama, till the last weekend tourney when the one coach mentioned to us changes were coming.

I must say im a big fan of my son's coaches on the new travel baseball team. His summer team kinda broke up after the last tourney in Aug, some kids went to another program, some just went back to their town team. Anyways his one coach joined another organization and the other coach is awesome, former mlb'er, current college pitching coach, super smart and is awesome with the kids. I'm super excited to see my son's progress this next yr. He hit on hit Trax the other day and his exit velocity moved up to 67mph and he doesn't even swing hard like a Nick Swisher. From what I found online it seems to be pretty good for an 11yr old.

I'd look good and hard, I had similar arrow yrs ago on a doe, didn't find much of anything. Due to storm rolling in just before dark I opted to check in the mornings. She was dead not far from stand.

Ended up seeing a different 8pt and that was it. This guy had just climbed over the hills of honeoye on my way home

Had 3 doe come in hot. Not a min later a Small 8 pt came in chasing.

My dad likes making these little boxes to put stuff in. I could live with out them but they are nice to put my glasses and bino's in I must say.

First sit in the new plot stand!! Looks like my mock scrape has had some action so I can't wait to check the cam later. Plot looks good yet heavily browsed at the same time if that makes any sense. Not feeling well so it's gonna take a big deer to get me going. This was the stand I fell from moving it to this tree, so I hope it brings me better luck.

Good luck everyone, I've been down and out since Tuesday with a nasty flu like cold. I'm trying to get back on the horse today and maybe hunt tonight.

Son and I are out, I put him in a stand near me. I walked him over and made sure he was in them walked to my stand. No sooner did I climb up my tree he sends me a pic of a doe. I have oaks in front and food plot behind!
