  1. I wrote about this a while back. Guys get such a hard on for distance and they become blurry eyed and ignorant to how a projectile cone of bb's acts. The longer range setup (of which I have) requires a very tight pattern that expands at distance, but to achieve that you're shooting baseball and softball size spreads at 20 yards which I have learned through experience and at the range is generally what most of us are shooting birds at, and if we're honest I'd rather have a pie plate at 20 than a softball and just except that the gobbler at 50 isn't going in my smoker. But this is what's cool about turkey hunting. You can setup your gun for what you want and how you hunt. I just wish some guys could get over their egos and understand that. If we need to continue with deer analogies, it's very similar to shooting a compound with a 50 lb draw weight. Absolutely lethal, but maybe not at 50+ yards on a less than ideal shot. But if you're hunting those distances, maybe a 65 lb draw weight is what you need. Both setups have their advantages.
  2. those using small gauge guns are generally running TSS and not lead, but yes no reason a 20 or .410 with the right choke and load can't get it done better than that pattern posted above. In all seriousness, I hope he proves us wrong. Nobody wants to see a wounded bird, even if it proves us right.
  3. WWJD? that's fair. I've never looked either. He does have a perfectly good 12 though... #6's https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/winchester-16-gauge-2-3-4-1-oz-super-x-game-loads-25-rounds?a=1589556 obviously TSS is the cream of the crop, but this could in theory last for years https://www.rogerssportinggoods.com/Apex-TSS-Turkey-Shotgun-Shells_2
  4. A lot of guys hunt with Winchester longbeard and there are even cheaper loads that can be had for around $20. That’s not a lot of money even for someone on a budget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Why are you hunting them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Omg please don’t take that setup into the field, that’s borderline unethical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Squirrel wings tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Put in 2 blinds and 2 cell cams today. While putting in one and with George Strait going on the Bluetooth I had a hen clucking at me at like 50 yards lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Error But happy bday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. disregard. doing a little more research and it seems this will cover a lot more than it claims.
  11. How much does roundup usually cost? I need to spray an acre this spring and another acre in the fall and was kinda shocked at what it cost. According to the label I need 2 of these bad boys to cover a little over an acre. Most guys say spray, wait 10 days, disc, wait and spray again. I'm not sure I can stomach doing that twice at this price. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/roundup-weed-grass-killer-50-super-concentrate-1-gal?cm_vc=-10005#
  12. always read the fine print. This is where those of us with actual training in education in science and reports separate from the internet conspiracy theorists. VAERS accepts reports of adverse events and reactions that occur following vaccination. Healthcare providers, vaccine manufacturers, and the public can submit reports to VAERS. While very important in monitoring vaccine safety, VAERS reports alone cannot be used to determine if a vaccine caused or contributed to an adverse event or illness. The reports may contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable. Most reports to VAERS are voluntary, which means they are subject to biases. This creates specific limitations on how the data can be used scientifically. Data from VAERS reports should always be interpreted with these limitations in mind.
  13. I'll admit that a few years ago I had an arrow go in through both lungs and come out the guts (rough angle). It wasn't a very cold day and very little to no blood resulted in a maybe 4 hour grid search before I found him. That gut job and initial release of stomach gas had me gag a few times lol.
  14. I always seem to start my seeds too early, so I'm waiting still. Maybe some peppers soon as they seem to take a while.
  15. I go every year on a weekend on Irondequoit creek, but man do I suck with the trout. It doesn't help that half my time is spent helping kids though
  16. well now you can no longer watch adult movies on that couch. lol.
  17. lol neither of those guys are washed up. Smith just won an oscar and rock's fargo series was pretty good. You're just old.
  18. I like to get one in a few weeks before so they become use to it. This year I might do 2 as I learn the property. That said, I also rock a ghilie suit and move a lot, but I do like a good place to "start" that is near where I think they're roosted and the blind is nice for cruddy weather too.
  19. Spent more hours at the farm this weekend pruning. I’m just about ready for turkey just need to put a blind or 2 out and the cams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I’ve found anything without much fat doesn’t do that well in the smoker, not that it’s bad it’s just not worth the effort. Additionally, anything with a lot of connective muscle tissues does really good when slow cooked to break it down. Which is why the crock pot is the go to for neck roasts. 21. Yes but the response was in response to my post. I’m just jumping in mid-fight here. But carry on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The kick or boom of a gun has never bothered me when it's directed at an animal. I shoot 3.5" mags out of my mossberg 835, which is a little more forgiving than it's little brother the 535. I also put a limb saver recoil pad on it, but when I was pattering it in I will admit that I had to try real hard on my flinch. That baby has a kick. I don't shoot my 3.5" at the range for plinking so I'm good with it haha.
  23. Stop with the strawman argument, read the link and tell me none of those are viruses and I will deed you my house.
  24. yeah no you're right and well educated on the topic. Please, go on with your science. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/diseases/forgot-14-diseases.html thanks for reminding me why i try and avoid these topics though. Y'all can carry on and I'll get back to my food plots.
