  1. played a few hours of hooky this afternoon, i just couldn't sit inside. Did some work on the UTV installing a bumper and chainsaw holder and then cut down a few smaller trees in prep for my food plot. I had a long sleeve and jeans and that was too much, man is it warm out!
  2. do you honestly believe that? Do you not agree that the suspension on importing it from Russia is the cause, in addition to the labor and supply chain issues? Would you not raise your prices with demand if you were a non-russian producer?
  3. some of us have jobs so we have to adjust our clocks haha
  4. do you find yourself walking runs or human paths or do you even dig around in the thick stuff? Some of the biggest sheds I've found were just laying out in the open on an easy to access and walkthrouh area. But the majority I stumbled upon while scouting in the real thick sh!t that is not enjoyable to be in at all.
  5. lots of hunters use electric bikes and utv's because they're quiet and don't stink.
  6. yeah that's what I'm going to look for, I was just looking online and that's all I found, I'm in webster. I've invested quite a bit in some farm equipment to till it up. I know many do very well with frost seeding but I want to try my hand in being a suburban wannabe farmer haha
  7. My soil sample calls for 34-0-0, I'll need only 88 pounds but I can't find this shit anywhere other than lowes and damn that can't be the best way to go about it or is it? I see liquid fertilizer too but not sure I want the hassle of that eventhough I just bought a sprayer. I know I'm early but stuff I've waited on like my sprayer and cultivator have all gone out of stock or up in price so I'm trying to jump on it now. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Scotts-Turf-Builder-Annual-Program-9-42-lb-4000-sq-ft-34-0-0-Lawn-Fertilizer/1000666037
  8. I'm not sure I can spread anything right now, the goldenrod is still chest high in some spots.
  9. I'm going to plant about an acre of fusion this spring. The pH is good, it's old farm land but was left to grow this past year so I need to mow before I spray and till. Right now it's pretty muddy and WTI recommends April-June to plant. Has anyone planted clover or fusion and when did you get after it? I recognize I need to mow, spray, till, spray again and then disc before I even put seeds in the ground.
  10. Kmartinson are you using a dog or do you have antler sonar?
  11. the answer is the nose. A deer can see movement, but generally their eyes are not great. Their hearing is also directional and why you see them move and turn their ears to associate direction. This is different than our hearing and a little more complicated to fully describe here but there are some really good articles out there on their anatomy.
  12. yeah during bow I don't get home till like 7 something or even later.
  13. My understanding was that it had to do with farmers and daylight and way before people had electric lights. speak for yourself peasant, some of us have expensive ass watches!
  14. yeah i'm fortunate enough to have the means to weather this storm, but if things change I'd cut back in other areas and not in and how I hunt. Heck I bought a UTV and plan to do food plots which just makes the fuel prices hurt more haha
  15. Yeah I have a dozen or so with black knot. I've read that the only thing I can do is prune it off and I'm not sure they would survive with how bad it is.
  16. I have an old orchard i'm trying to keep on life support. The apples shouldn't be too hard but damn are peaches and plums a lost cause. Good luck!
  17. planting for yourself to eat or for critters?
  18. On second thought, maybe I’ll get that roof https://www.instagram.com/reel/CaQAXWyuV7Z/?utm_medium=copy_link Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. everything i've researched and personal experience is that outdoor grows are just too complicated (not for legal reasons) but fungus, inspects, weather etc. So the tent grow is the path most use, but then you're dealing with lights, ventilation, humidity etc. idk someday maybe, maybe i'll do some tomatoes first lol
  20. On the topic, these things are great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JV27MF4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  21. my experience has been all over the place with cheap small amazon ones that are doing well in my "herbal" storage box, to more expensive built in humidifiers working like crap from day 1. I'm adding nothing to the conversation other than that my results are mixed. I do have a professional handheld from work which helps to confirm my suspicions.
  22. Had to cure some cabin fever today. Hacked some more trails and did that thing where you stand in the woods for a while just kind of looking. Like if anyone saw you they might be concerned about your mental health, but what you're really doing is deciding what might be a good tree for a stand and when you find that tree you wonder how much work it might be. At the same time you also know that the turkeys roost in this area and you're trying to find a good spot for a blind, but you're not really all that sure which trees they're roosting in and how you can approach it without spooking them. Then you get home and you feel good about the work but you now have more questions than when you went in. Anybody else? No? Just me?
  23. The fact that crossbows aren't legal for seniors is ridiculous. That and disabled individuals is why I left NYBH.
