Jail time eh? Whole new box to argue but 10 is probably fine for well taught kids, but I worry about the 10 year old who isn't ready or raised proper and shoots a deer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

1. point me to a harvest thread where someone was picked on for shooting a small buck. I can show you 10 posts in this thread alone where trophy hunters were put down. several by you. 2. I had 2 doe in the freezer. Why shoot the 4 point? I'm not saying in discussion like this there haven't been comments about guys shooting small buck, what i'm referring to are the harvest threads. -

see that's just it. if there were ARs you may not see more deer you could shoot. You probably would see more yearlings, but in years past they get killed. Now your chances of seeing a 2.5 or older on public land increases. You still shoot the doe like I did but you know that bigger buck might be out there. There's an interesting season in Mississippi where you can hunt one last weekend of bow and shoot either sex, or you can choose to harvest doe only that week with primitive weapon. Kind of a neat idea but does lead to some confusing regs. -

You know what though, in this forum I don't see a lot of hate towards the guy who shoots the small buck. But I see a heck of a lot of hate towards the trophy hunter. The meat hunter is righteous and noble. And given a pass to hate the trophy hunter for some reason. That's a horrible analogy and you know it. And if you've read any of my stories about my new hunting experience in the south you'd know i couldn't agree more. There are ARs on public land. I shot a doe and a nice buck. Id still let the little guy walk. And I'm glad the regs let the guy grow and I got a shot at him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Sounds like a cool experience but probably tough on the old bones. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Your wife gives you a hall pass. Pick your top 3 woman. It's fun. No different than 2 guys bullshitting in a bar. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

I've always kinda wanted an AR because there cool guns and fun to shoot. Just always found something else I'd rather spend $1k on. Never ever could I imagine wanting one so bad that I'd buy that abomination. That said, glad they're doing it. Love loopholes to stupid laws. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
You've never once backed down. You clash with some of us because you're the same. You're very knowledgable on a lot of topics like a lot of us are. Unfortunately when you get caught with your pants down in unfamiliar waters you turn on a defense mode instead of just letting it go. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Last time I checked you could take a combo course that covered bow and hunting and prep work was online. Condensed class. This was a few years ago so maybe it's changed. Rob seems pretty angry all the time. I feel for him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Gander was great and then seemingly overnight the hunter products decreased and their boots and camping section grew. Maybe there was a good reason. Maybe they were losing share and thought the switch would set them apart and keep them going but that place is a complete joke now. I got a good deal 4 years ago on a mossberg 835 and some out of season clearance. Last time I saw anything worth buying there. Even got the same kayak for almost $300 cheaper at Dicks so their camping push isn't working either. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Seasons over. Fun to debate. Who pissed in your Cheerios making you upset we're talking about it? Helped enlighten me a little. So I think it's been fun.I sort of find it interesting that those who would not change their hunting style are apposed to ARs. If you couldn't shoot bucks and would still hunt; why are you so mad you can't shoot little bucks? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

I guess I don't understand why some seem to call out trophy hunters like they're a "bad" type of hunter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Tough call. I see both sides. Certainly more confusing than the bs call they had gifted last week. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Never said they weren't all special. I almost threw my arm out with my fist pump this year after finally scoring my first deer on public land in the south. A small doe was all she was. Meant even more than the 9 point a few weeks later because I had just proved to ME that I could do it all from start to finish by myself. Hell the young doe taste soooo much better than the rutty old bucks. My first deer ever was a small 6. The memory and the bear hug from dad is one of the best moments in my life. The stories go on and on for me too. But there are some doe mixed in over the years that have faded. I have no object to trigger the memory. Just how the human brain works. Sights, smells, sounds etc. they all trigger memories. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The term "as much" would need explaining for me. With a very young family, time is precious. I hunt 2 to 3 times a week when the deer are moving and maybe some precious vacation days during the rut. All together I might make 30 sits. I'd probably cut that in half with doe. 15 sits is still pretty good and honestly if I shoot the first 2 good sized doe on October what am I to do without a tag? Risk not filling the freezer by passing up good shots and risking not seeing deer later in the year?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Why does everyone assume horn hunters are only trying to boost their ego? It's a trophy. Like finding an Indian arrowhead. I can look at my wall and recall all the stories just by looking at the horns. The doe have faded a little. Plus bucks have a built in drag handle for us guys without quads Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

With all do respect I believe those were simpler times. 3 channels on TV, no internet etc. probably times I'd like to choose over today, but culture has changed and not just with hunting. Heck I'm writing this note to you on an iPad on my couch with a 55" TV playing HD football in the background. I'd probably enjoy it more in a bar but that's just not as common anymore.
