  1. didn't watch the video, but water like this is considered navigable water ways. It doesn't matter who owns the land, everyone has the right to be on the water. Which is just to say that nobody owns a river or lake unless of course said body of water is completely enclosed by private land and even then, technically you could helicopter in and be "on the water". The whole navigable water thing has come up a lot recently in courts as drainage ditches and what not have been considered navigable. There was a trump era debate on some bill that escapes me that would have undone some of this, but not for trespassing reasons. It would have affected this though
  2. you're not going to have a private security detail with sniper towers at the new crib?
  3. for whatever reason my garage and front door are metal and so are the frames which was nice to find out, but also a pain when changing the locks trying to get the new ones to latch properly. That's a good point about tools in the garage, but that's not a level I'm prepared to go to haha. So if anyone breaks into belo's garage, you'll find all sorts of stuff to get into the house haha
  4. And for me, a nice rack is a nice rack. I guess it's nice to know if it's a 3 vs an immature 2, but if you're happy with the deer you shot there's no reason to make yourself feel bad. On the flip side it is cool to find out a deer you thought was a 3 is actually a 5 with bad genetics, however the rack will still be that of 2 lol. I have this image in my mind of non-hunters looking at the wall and when you try and explain that the rack on this one here is smaller than a few I have mounted so I just did a euro. However, he's actually a 4.5 and oh by the way that big 8 is a huge 2.5. My mother in law "oh ok..." lol.
  5. for sure you would want a camera to take a picture of my trophy wall. That illusive picture would for sure be a forum favorite. If you accidently drop a thermal scope for my use we will call it a fair trade
  6. well said. You should know what your goals are and go from there. My safe has my guns and some ammo. None of them are overly valuable beyond sentimental. My safe is to keep the guns out of my kids/visitors hands and deter a thief. I keep valuable documents in there too, but for sure there isn't like $50k in diamonds or something so the field and stream safe I own meets my needs, although I'm tight on space now lol. I have decent security for my home, but in the end nothing to stop a burglar if we're out, just cams with cloud recording and decent locks. Enough to make it difficult, but if they mean business and come with an angle grinder and what not, they're going to get what they came for.
  7. for sure I get that. So is aging them verification for you? Like you said, a truly mature 4.5 or older buck is pretty easy ID based on visual observations vs the scientific identification.
  8. That's what I figured. I do weigh and keep records of every deer, mostly out of curiosity too. However my scale wasn't a huge investment and I use for turkey's too. Aging a deer seems a little more expensive and involved. I for sure understand why people are interested in it.
  9. I don't consider myself a trophy hunter. I hunt for many reasons, but I wouldn't lie and say that I didn't target big bucks. I absolutely do. But again if I'm honest, I target big bucks because they have big racks. So the aging thing has never really interested me. I've talked privately with some members here who have shot 4.5 year olds that I would have passed due to rack size. My question here is, outside of curiosity is anyone aging to "make themselves feel better"? Meaning, you know it's not a giant, but when the test comes back at 3.5 you're for sure going to let people know that it wasn't a big 2.5?
  10. 2 of my 3 kids are in speech, but one just graduated. Must be the rich people farts they breath in ruining their tongue muscles
  11. IIRC him and I are in the same area. I too am a penfield resident but with a webster mailing address and webster school district.
  12. 1. You can get a WTI kit off amazon for $15 and another $10 or so in shipping depending on how many fields. If just one field, take 5 or 6 samples mix in a bucket and put in the bag. I got my results back via email in like 5 days and it's really good insurance that you at least know what you're working with and if you fail, it wasn't the soil. 2. You don't need to use round-up, but a glysophate is strongly recommended for tilling. Just use the right PPE and good hygiene practices when spraying. 3. No you don't, but I find that depending on the size of your plot, it wont break the bank and it's easy to work with. 4. Yes, but rarely exactly what you need from your soil sample, but you can get pretty close. I believe you can also special order fert, but I imagine it isn't cheap to do it that way. 5. mower possibly, sprayer, spreader (hand is preferred), a cultivator/tiller and then a cultipacker or harrow (the later is much cheaper). Depending on what you already own, $500 is a tough budget but doable. I've done some small 1/4 plots with nothing but hand tools. I'm actually making a youtube series (because my kid is obsessed and wanted to try his hand at it). It's not public yet but I'm documenting my whole journey which is similar to yours. It should help when I release it soon.
  13. congrats moog. looks like maybe there's a sweet sledding hill off the back side. Webster will miss you.
  14. these threads must be getting to me because I had a dream last night that I ordered a new vette and truck at the same time and both were going to take 2 years haha
  15. I had a bunch of irons in the fire. I had well over a dozen bets via live betting and pre-game stuff. Came out down $40, but it was fun. A couple bets were long shot big pay offs.
  16. I'm not sure the largest whitetail killed by a crossbow helps your case at all, it just reinforces that they're easier. But leave it to you to not only A. Break a rule by hunter shaming, but B. Take a light hearted fun joke and make it serious, all while using it as an excuse to post another picture AGAIN.
  17. yeah some of the stuff is just too much, but once you figure it all out and are used to it, it's nice. When i get in a rental these days it's like learning to drive all over again
  18. What would they gain with that myth? I don't see how it benefits the left to make it up.
  19. last 2 trucks have had it. It's better than heated seats. Unless you drive with gloves on, there's nothing nicer than that warm steering wheel in the winter or after hiking out of the woods. I don't care if it makes me sound soft, it's glorious and if someone on this site who has one disagrees, I'd like to hear why because when my wife got it on her new vehicle she agreed that it was her favorite new thing as well.
  20. rumor is they're "planning" something for LA on superbowl weekend. The meltdown will be more fun to watch than the game itself.
  21. Belo's tips that nobody asked for. 1. After you've purchased your crossbow and realized you're now less of a man, see if the dealer will take it back with no restocking fee, the storage is now their problem. 2. Give your crossbow to your nephew who is obsessed with the walking dead and zombie videogames. He can store it and hopefully have a fun time playing with it in the backyard and not hurt one of his buddies. Storage is now his problem. 3. Repurpose your crossbow as a boat anchor. While certainly there are better and more affordable options for boat anchors, if you remove the cable the crossbow will do just fine and you can keep it nice and secure in your boat storage cubby. 4. Chanel your inner goonies and set up a booby trap. This solution will require a trip to lowes or home depot and some creativity, but if done correctly, that amazon delivery guy will never think about trying to peek in the window again. This storage solution is the most effective because your crossbow is now active 100% of the time. Warn your wife and kids of course. 5. And probably the best solution of all, donate your crossbow to an old bowhunter who can't pull back the strings anymore. Keep this guy in his stand come autumn and allow him to keep enjoying the crisp fall air and crunching leaves of the approaching 8 point buck with his nose to the ground. If you don't know an old bowhunter who can't pull back the strings anymore, seek out a local VFW or organization that provides hunts to handicapped individuals. A hunter in the woods with something, is better than a hunter not in the woods at all. -Happy Friday, Love Belo
  22. If I can't get close to what I want, this is what I'm doing in September. There's zero chance I buy a new truck without a heated steering wheel or that's missing features normally included. I'm rooting for these truckers and I'm also conflicted to how it's impacting the car market haha. Ultimately, I'm enjoying how the the media and politicians like the wacko from michigan have praised burning cities and looting as peaceful and the right thing to do, but somehow this is really bad and must be condemned and stopped asap.
  23. I own a ford, pontiac and chevy. 4 yamaha's and a can-am. I buy what I think is the best for my situation. Which is why I'd never buy a ford truck of course... hahahahah sorry just having fun.
