  1. you're correct when the property is not fenced in. but if somebody hurts themselves by going "above and beyond" to enter your property you can get off the hook. But I still wouldn't do it, especially if it kills someone. good idea too. the motion alarms and/or lights aren't very expensive either.
  2. we just painted our family room. i have zero interest in painting and would rather do a million other things. I did the prep and the wife ended up painting. except for a few mistakes around the trim she did a damn good job.
  3. i'm more of a lookey loo then actively trying to buy. The glock 23 I just bought put a nice dent in my bank account.
  4. stopped at biekerchs yesterday and figured i'd inquire about any used 308 or 30-06. not surprisingly they had none. haha.
  5. you don't have to answer this, but out of curiosity, where in rochester are you?
  6. I actually just researched this. We needed a phone at work in a remote building for emergencies only. The pay as you go phones do require you call or text at least a few times a month, and also charge you a minimum fee. So they're not exactly as "free" as they seem. the best I found was the trac phone.
  7. 4 wheelers seem to feel the open woods is theirs. Private or not-private. Hunters can be the same way. It's too bad there isn't A. More open and public land and B. More respect for other peoples things/property
  8. my wife actually pushes me to relax more. I'm always busy tinkering or fixing. This is our second house and we've only been here for a year so there's a lot we want to fix. But the last few weeks have been tough because we're throwing a party for my son's first. So everything must be perfect. haha.
  9. lol. gets butthurt by name calling, then hypocritically returns the favor
  10. absolutely raggin on the brown it's down crowd. you're doing nothing but senseless killing. You don't care for the meat and you're not trophy hunting. Trophy hunters who waste meat are bad enough. I'm a conservationist and lover of nature first and foremost. You're obviously getting your rocks off from just killing. I know you'll loose 100 times over if the members on this forum took sides. but you can continue to attack me personally... i forgot that you knew me. I've listed my hunting credentials, family, education and profession here. No need to do it again. Enjoy your life. Nuisance permit hunting is generally ok by me so long as the meat goes to use. Just wish you'd stop posting these pictures. Nobody is going to pat you on the back for what you're doing. If you want to nuisance hunt, there's nothing illegal about it. But to be proud of piling dead deer and wasting the meat? Stacking fawns and velvet bucks in a pile? Not my thing, and again I'm not alone. I nice picture with the hunter, the harvest and the weapon is what most of us prefer. ps. put some clothes on. You'll find yourself generally tick free... in the south they wear snake chaps to protect against rattlers. simple ppe buddy.
  11. there was a place in inlet that had a bear feeder and you were almost guaranteed to see a black bear while eating. I think it was the ole barn...but yeah someone made them stop that some time ago.
  12. I never said I supported him, only that I would rather at least have him in the office then another anti-safe act, non-bow hunter. How some of you feel you can get a non-safe act congresman in downstate is laughable. You wont see an apponent run on that stance downstate. it's just not important to the majority of the population. But culver, lets make sure we vote out your pro-crossbow guy too ok?
  13. here we go. "lymes disease". i'm a crusader for the people. To your second point, a large buck does not do any more damage to a farmers crop than a large doe. So you see large doe and shoot the small buck? This is what I struggle with. I realize you're entering with a "it's brown it's down attitude" to help the farmer, and this I understand and have already shared my feelings. And I highly doubt the farmer is watching you hunt and pass up bucks, otherwise he would be shooting them himself. Seems to me though that you have an opportunity to manage this property (although you believe I do not know what I'm talking about). Shoot a lot of the doe (who breed by the way), let the bucks grow up and shoot a nice buck each year. But I suppose the more and more I read you post, it appears you're not into meat (this we know) and now it seems you're not after horns. Seems you're just here to kill. And that's not very right in my book.
  14. so shooting a fawn and a buck is how to do it? how about taking out a handful of doe? And then of course just tossing the back straps...
  15. I don't see anyone arguing that. The debate is how to best go about it.
  16. slickers doesn't have a ton of mounts. But most places do have a few... and i will second seeing some really bad ones myself.
  17. people suck. I would echo the suggestions of a trail cam. But the resolution might not be good enough to catch faces, and too close you risk just getting your camera stolen... some times just a dummy camera or 2 mounted around the place will do the trick or even the fake monitoring signs. I have the feeling your place isn't a mansion though, so most people will probably realize you're not really going to invest time and money on security? idk... again. people suck.
  18. doc, my point was that if we just vote them out, downstate there's a 90% chance they're just being replaced by another politician who supports the act. don't forget it was popular to many. The only win we have is if we replace with those against the act. and honestly I just dont see that happening. Most people have much bigger issues that they're voting for than gun control. I think we tend to live in a vacuum sometimes in what we think our neighbors value as opposed to what we value.
  19. ha. we have a place on brown tract. not a lot of big deer, but they aren't very timid that's for sure.
  20. i kind of treat my bows like cars. There needs to be something revolutionary or it just plain fails for me to upgrade. Is a new matthews have some nicer features than my switchback? is it a little faster, sure? buy my switchback works just fine.
  21. very good points. Replacing sweeny with another LI dem will not net any difference in the safe act. it just doesn't affect that part of the state like it does ours. At least sweeney has the best interest of sportsman in mind.
