  1. they've been chatting up a storm behind my house. few more weeks fellas!
  2. The spray is like $7 a can. I only use it for cuts greater than 4". It's cheap insurance. But I agree with early, the best strategy is to do an angled cut. For larger limbs, always undercut so it doesn't strip bark as it falls. Try to avoid a cut that would be pointing to the sky and collect rain and take a beating from the sun. Cut as close to the limb/trunk as possible but don't cut into it. The other advice I would give is to be conservative and if anything it's better to under-prune. I've read very conflicting responses on that subject though. Seems to be like Chevy or Ford.
  3. thanks for the advice guys. Phade, all the videos and articles I've read recommend clover in the spring for the north. I do not have high expectations, just looking for a project to get me outside and busy. I'm hoping to suck in some turkeys as well. If it's not great the first year, that's fine. You have to start somewhere right? My main focus this year is the already established apple orchard. any other advice on easy to grow annuals is welcome.
  4. working with government laws my entire career, I learned very early on that you should not question why as it'll get you nowhere.
  5. i also wondering if the name brand stuff like biologic is worth it. I think I want to start with a small plot of clover for turkey and deer. Maybe some corn but not as sold. I really need to feel the planting thing out before I do more plots and variety.
  6. What are some good stores to buy seed? Corn, clover and what not? There is a tractor supply, country max, hd, lowes and a dicks near me. Or am I better off ordering online? I'm in Wayne County.
  7. this one got me jonsing for October
  8. ok. so is there a link on the webpage I can see these deals? I'm having trouble navigating their site to find this info. I'm truly interested in food plots for turkey and deer this year
  9. wow I wish I saw this video and website weeks ago. thanks for sharing!
  10. certainly take care of any suckers you have around the trunk
  11. how much do you travel? it's why we never got another dog to give our golden company. Most people will watch your 1 dog, but don't care to watch 2.
  12. i remember a post about this place last year with a lot of negative things to say. is that the same one?
  13. hen and jake. might actually go with 2 hens this year. been told to avoid the tom's if you're not an expert.
  14. i think you're a little late for pruning as well. But it has been colder than normal so you might get away with it. Regardless I wouldn't prune heavily.
  15. so it's ok for him to slander the name of a dead man, but nobody can slander him? Sounds like he can dish it out and can't take it. Has he seen some of the outrage against the anti-gun supporters? what did he think would happen?
  16. didn't you know anyone on a forum is a know it all on all laws and regulations? They also date super models and know what's best for you.
  17. I have aftermarket 20's on my ride and have never sold a drug in my life. Just saying...
  18. i hunt 8F and 7J. 8F seems up overall and 7J down during most of gun, but up during opening day. agreed, I believe there has been some culture shift. Less guys into the "deer camp" and more interested in hunting the big buck. This probably means more bowhunters, less camp parties, less guys in cammo at the gas pump and people getting in earlier and less drives. I believe every area is different in terms of activity increase and decrease. I think private land is becoming more popular if you can find it. Maybe there are other factors affecting state land, I'm not sure as I rarely hunt it. I know when I did I was turned off from the pressure, lack of sign and number of hunters. To get anywhere deep and unpressured required almost an hour hike with your climber on your back.
  19. very hard to watch. i still think its better for his career then tearing some tendons or ligaments. I do hope they don't find bone cancer or something. It really shouldn't have broke like that.
