  1. very much disagree with you. Putting a stand up on state land is similar to leaving your canoe on a state beach. Again, i wouldn't get in somebodies stand, but to let hell break loose if someone climbs in yours is a little silly to me.
  2. there is no way he could have done that amount of damage with knives. it would only take 2 adults to neutralize him. What he could have done however would be bombs, fire (blocking the exits etc.)
  3. there is no way we can ever predict every event like this or prevent them all. There will always be illegal guns even if we banned them tomorrow. Performing a mental health check (doctors note or something) can go a long ways though. It's not perfect, corrupt doctors, future illness etc. We are mostly NYS residents here where it can take over 6 months to obtain a pistol and does not require references or safety classes. It does not take nearly that long in other states. I think it would help.
  4. i have only hunted darien lake state land and they prohibit permanent stands. However i would not get in someones stand had they chose to break that rule because i only trust my equipment and it's not worth the confrontation. Buy a nice climber i say
  5. I hope there isn't a member on here that isn't at least for some mental health type evaluation. I am for a 10 round mag limit on rifles, not handguns. This is in affect for NYS anyhow. I don't see the need for military style rifles, but I am not for banning them.
  6. the only argument i would make against registering is for fear that one day they decided to take them all away. Otherwise, if you're a responsible gun owner you should have nothing to hide
  7. i think the gun kills were way up in my area. that first weekend/week was so nice weather wise that a lot of fair weather hunters got themselves into the woods. the pile at the butchers i saw was almost sickening.
  8. only problem with this is you're missing 7 years of data on 2010-2020 and right now it's trending to increase.
  9. probably saved a bunch of deer. Which means more and bigger deer next season!
  10. this is a rant not directed at the OP in my profession simply misusing their, they're or there; or even more commonly your and you're will lose you instant credibility with those you're communicating with. Trying not to go on a large rant but some of the posts i read on facebook by the younger generations blow my mind and I'm only 29. Those ranting and raving about some candidate's an idiot and their post is riddled with typos. The same people are then upset they're still working at Target and blame the economy for their misfortunes. The common rebuttal is "grammar nazi this is facebook; who cares?" well type like you do all day and see if it doesn't start becoming part of your normal style while communicating via email at work. I suggest you guys use firefox. autospell check
  11. for what it's worth, your congressman could be Jewish. Go with holidays in the future.
  12. we are also the most free nation on earth. many if not most other societies have much harsher penalties, less democracy and lawyers and culture. Lets say in china for example you kill someone with a gun, you may not even receive a trial. It's simply off with your head. In the states, you're in jail for a year, trial for a few months and then maybe 25 to life, but most likely you have parole. and that's if your slimeball lawyer doesnt get you off on a technicality. As far as culture we were built on a revolution sprung from oppression, freedom is a core belief of all and sometimes this leads to a less powerful gov't and more "i can do what i want" attitude. Plus movies. f'n movies... haha. let me add too, that by shear population size our numbers will always be greater than canada, germany, uk etc.
  13. agreed times 3. but you will find that NYB have changed their stance on youth hunt. Some say this is them realizing they lost, others would say compromise. Removing this current bill from the discussion the gov't is always combining sh!t in bills where I may agree with some but not all. Wondering if sandy hill affected this at all, however if they eventually pass xbow during archery, I dont really believe it will add new hunters, only simply add some current gun hunters to the archery season. If (for arguments sakes) the state felt this was going to limit gun hunting then they're really more idiotic then we thought.
  14. however try shipping it to new york. they are illegal here. But it's very easy to get them at gunshows. so take that for what its worth. maybe i'm thinking concealed carry for any citizen not having a reason for it and it would only apply to private security. I remember in my pistol permit safety class them specifically telling us do not carry in NYC.
  15. bloomberg/NYC has already banned firearms in the city. What he thinks as a city mayor doesn't worry me too much.
  16. For me it was your grammar not your spelling. So if you talk how you type, then you may have lost the argument right there. But like others have said, arguing with a teacher who feels strongly about something, especially when it's very fresh in most peoples minds will not end well for you.
  17. problem is that i have to change the double A batteries every few months
  18. beat me to it. but the term automatic being thrown around drives me nuts, i dont even argue with someone who has not even bothered to research the topic. I will discuss with anyone who is at least open to debate and knowledgeable. I also would have politely reminded my teacher that he is here to teach a subject and not his beliefs.
  19. we're legalizing pot? I dont know many pot heads interested in mass killing sprees
  20. oh believe me, you'd have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands. It's simply just a hypothetical question.
