I'll bite. Like i said. Big firearm advocate and owner. I'd even like an AR someday for target and of course the zombie apocalypse. I also understand compromise and all I was saying is that if it came down to some or none at all, which group of firearms would you eliminate? just humor me. hypothetical for arguments sakes.

this has got me thinking of an incident that happened to my father and I this year and if you heard the other guys story you'd probably believe my father was a d!ck. But honestly my father never did anything you're claiming your neighbor did but was indeed very upset at the actions this neighbor took which included trespassing without permission and littering. just a thought.
-
you are spot on when it comes to compromise. As much as this will get me flamed, you know what mine is with guns? Assault weapon ban, leave the pistols. I personally own 2 shotguns a 22 and a muzzleloader and looking for my first pistol. I hunt and I enjoy guns, but IF WE HAD TO COMPROMISE i see no reason why we must have 30rd mags and assault rifles on the streets. They're cool, they're fun to shoot and I still think it should be legal to own them, but I'd much rather they take them away then our pistols and hunting rifles. Can you hunt with an AR? sure. Is it really any better than a non tactical rifle? We've debated that already on here. haha.

if you made an honest effort to look for it than don't kill yourself over it. I've been lucky on at least 2 occasions where I ran out of blood and just stumbled upon my deer. It happens.

the problem in any group is that there will be divides. Not every member of the NRA agrees with all their agendas, not every member on a companies board agrees with how the company may proceed in business and obviously Americans are split 51/49 with how the country should be run but in all 3 cases there is a general goal each member of each group is in agreement for. With hunting I've butted heads with a few over some of my beliefs eventhough we all want the same thing, we just disagree with either A. how to achieve it or B. What is really in the best interest of the organization/sport I also like to look at an internet forum as the least productive way of really advocating for something. I would venture to guess 80% of us if not more are here to shoot the sh!t, talk about hunting, learn, teach and sometimes just kill some time. If anyone takes anything on here to seriously than you need to get up off your computer and go for a walk. If you really are passionate about something you should join or create an organization, meet in person and lobby for what it is. Many of you may not agree with the NRA or NY Bowhunters etc, but that is exactly what they did. Got off their a55 and did something about it.

so awesome. i'm not sure i could shoot either, but that'd be an awesome mount...

lot of lawyers on this site I see. I'm calling the DEC the next time my neighbors kids ride quads on their own property during deer season... or maybe when my other neighbor lets his terriers out and they begin their yipping. There are no noise ordinances in most of the small towns we all hunt and you can do what you want for the most part on your property. Try proving I'm cutting wood or riding quads to annoy you and you will instantly be able to command some nice prices for your services as a lawyer. Like I said, unless you're banging pots and pans there's not much you can do about what someone does on their property and what if that particular neighbor is playing the drums and not pots and pans? Can they not play drums in the woods? I believe a few of you told me in the button buck thread that if i didn't like neighbors killing button bucks because it impacted my future seasons i should just buy more land. Same can be said here.

originally i thought this place was just me vs everyone. but the more and more i see there's a lot of nice fighting that goes on here. I like it. haha.

Figured as much. I have no idea why people make stuff up.

Got this text from a buddy today and you never know what's legit or not. Anyone see this or hear about it?

those guns were not illegal to own from what i've heard from the story. The problem is the people themselves and if you have no priors it's hard to deny you the right to own one. 99% of legal gun owners are responsible. My mother is a kindergarten teacher. I can not even imagine how I'd feel, and I even currently am very upset by this and I'm a big supporter of the 2nd amendment. This is a tough pill for us to swallow and will be tougher and tougher to defend this right as these events continue to happen more and more frequently.

we're americans. we're never happy with what we have and always want more! haha.
-
some of these places (darien lake is an example) have instituted bow only areas where human activity is greater. I think it's at least a compromise although any reduction in land to hunt is scary.

i make the usual rounds in the fall and spring just looking to see what new is out there and picking up supplies i need. My jaw dropped when i walked into the henrietta gander mountain. place is a wasteland. empty shelves and they're missing most of the niche items you can't find at dicks or walmart

pure awesomeness. my uncle used to hunt with his beagle before he passed. always looked like a great time to be in the woods with your dog. -
Push To Include Big Bore Airguns For Big Game In New York?
Five Seasons replied to 13BVET's topic in General Hunting
yeah i'm with you. I'm not sure i get the appeal. They're quieter, but certainly not silent. -
county parks are not the same as state land. we have been requesting permission to hunt some land locked county land for years and the town mayor doesn't really care if we hunt it, but she ran it by her lawyers who said no. We got the impression from her that they wouldn't enforce anything but we decided it best to stay away.

i use a gopro when i hunt sometimes. Turn the red recording light off and from a distance he would never know. All you really need is the audio anyhow. There might be some legality with recording without permission and stuff though. I stick with my thoughts of avoiding this guy and just realizing some people are jerks and you're not going to change that. Some hunters (my dad is one of them) get very territorial about neighbors and deer as they "want them all for themselves" or are trying to grow better genetics and herds, however I think he'd really only be "upset" not "mad" if you shot a giant 12 pointer, not a doe. haha. i don't think they consider it harassment if it's your land and you're cutting down firewood. pretty common around me actually as the winter approaches. Even if that's the intent it's hard to prove. The only case I know that resulted in a fine was a guy I work with had a lady banging pots and pans on HIS property. Now that's harassment. amen.

i'd be a little cautious about this. dude sounds like he's off his rocker and people dont like being filmed. it might just make things worth.

some times 12 acres can be better than a 100. As we all know it depends on many things.
-
you can do a simple name/town search on google and you'd be amazed at what you can find. If he owns a home it's a matter of public record in the town property tax records. Try yourself and you'd be amazed. this website is scary. try it out on yourself http://www.spokeo.com/

wow there are some very good reasons a lot of those laws are in place. The cost of your license goes to pay for DEC, and conservation programs (for now) and I dont mind paying for. As far as tags. You can shoot 2 bucks a year, another antlerless with bow/mz and can get up to 4 doe tags if you reapply and that's not including nuisance permits. If people are posting more than 2 bucks a year on facebook they're actually documenting illegal activities, but people are stupid. This may not be popular, but I'd rather have 2 buck tags to take whatever season as I'd rather continue to bow hunt after my first and just skip gun all together.

wow. fired shots? i dont know how the police would look at that, but given his history of reporting you, there's a well documented case and you "could" claim you're concerned for your safety. idk...

I realize this and because I haven't been around long enough for you guys to realize it was a joke I apologize for the 3rd time. I meant no disrespect. As far as calling a spade a spade I only meant that its up to the mods and That i can't take it back even if I wanted to.

well it is what it is. Those that have never made a joke regarding a stereotype than cast the first stone. You know damn well that I'm not racist, you just don't like me. oddly enough though the post i asked to be deleted is still up and anyone who swears receives instant edit.
