i agree with you mostly, but the only minor issue i have with the cadged deer hunts are that the pics get circulated and by the time they've been emailed or texted 5 or 6 times the story gets foggy and people start envying some hunter that doesn't deserve. Again this is a minor issue I have but it bugs me a little. this is a little off topic and no, whitetails are not endangered but it got me thinking: any of you guys see this story on 60 minutes over the summer? is it wrong? some of them would be extinct without the preserve. But the funds to keep the area up are raised by hunters paying to hunt them. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57368000/can-hunting-endangered-animals-save-the-species/

i've hunted deer and pheasant there last season. Most guys park off broadway and walk in there and it's pressured a lot more than the 77 entrance by the fields. I hunted early archery and saw 2 dow and a small 6 i could have taken but it was early and i had higher aspirations. There's a nice spot about a 1/4 mile in on the right between 2 fields that they use as a transition and i've never seen another hunter there. However this is a decent hike with a climber. good luck if you go and bring a cart, quad or something cause it'll be a nice drag and you cannot drive a truck in.

who started it this time? the only difference is one uses a string to propel a bolt, the other uses air. Some may say this is a fundamental difference but if the velocity of the bolt (seems we all want to know what it is) is the same as an average xbow I don't see a huge difference between this and an autococking xbow with a scope and a trigger. insert bolt, aim scope and pull trigger. I don't use an xbox so perhaps I'm missing something.

congrats. now buy some camo

in for the answer. very interested. I can't see the difference between cut corn and soybean. Yes standing corn provides cover as it grows, but soybean doesn't and they're both growing. if the answer is "you can't hunt cut corn" the DEC has yet again gone off their rocker.

be careful what you say around here. You'll be branded an elitist and the "i only hunt for meat" guys will let you know you're arrogant and your ideals are not welcome.

I quit watching the outdoor channel when every other hunt was a ranch hunt with an 8 year old in a tree fort set up with a rifle on a bipod.

that thing is cool. pretty close to a crossbow.

same here. high winds, freezing rain and all that would lead to sleepless nights. There is a guy in PA and I wish I had his info that sells an awesome rubber bow sling. I never enter the woods without it.
-
ouch. that sucks and i hope it wasn't intentional that it wasn't found
-
f'n awesome. how do you even get a beast like that onto a quad or truck?

never called anyone gay. gay means happy and joyous does it not? and I never once directed it at any individual unlike you all do with me. anyhow... I feel that the certain mechanics of archery involve pulling back a string, aiming and releasing. While a compound is not the same as a recurve, it does offer the same principal but only includes some cams to make it "easier". An xbow is a whole new idea and drastically different. In medieval times those that shot longbows or recurves were call archers. those that used xbows were referred to as crossbow men. I don't believe it takes nearly as much skill (but yes it still takes talent) and I don't believe they should be allowed in pope and young and if you believe someone wont shoot a deer with an xbow and claim it was compound i think you're foolish. Look at the dork from watertown who shot a farm deer as an example of the debauchery that takes place with record books. I've stated my reasons before and I also linked to the NYSBH website on why they feel the same and it was very obvious that many of you disagree and resorted to name calling. the thread is still there if you'd like to reread. And I did state twice that I am for xbow use for disabled and elderly. So i though i'd just resort to having harmless fun in this thread and much as I expected you all got very serious and upset again, even wishing for my face to be smashed in... I told a mod I'd lay off the xbow stuff so i will not post again in this section. Happy hunting.

why? who did I attack personally? You'd resort to violence if someone disagreed with your opinion? Do you teach your children that violence is the answer too? my pics were posted. you saw them. I took them off because you all obviously take this too serious. And who's from Tully that you're insulting?
-
i would have hoped it was painfully obvious by now that I'm just having fun. Crossbows will not ruin my life. I'm not in agreement with them, and like I said a few other times as well, I like to debate them and in turn I tend to use some internet humor that ruffles some feathers here.
-
no issues with disabled or elderly using an xbow you know that. but look at that thing. really? archery?
-
in agreement on you with the apples. and the mild winter led to a bigger heard this year which i also agree led to some overgrazing. The true test will be if we get another mild or a severe winter

bought a bow case last year. couldnt fit my matthews in it with the quiver on so i'd take it off and set it inside. well i a broadhead must have nicked a string because the second to last day of bow i'm drawing on a nice 8. Not quite a mounter, but nice. And my string snaps as i wait one more second for him to take another step for a perfect shot. still haunts me.

you know what they say though, you'll probably see a giant buck and no deer. that's what happens to me during turkey
-
honestly a big fat doe can taste just as bad as a big old buck. If you're meat hunting shoot a few small doe and let the big ones breed.
-
i dont think there are any laws whatsoever for coyote except the normal 500' rule. Generally i wouldn't hunt them during deer though unless you really have too.

drool. that thing is sex. -
oh god. you know what i meant and if you're going to insist on the golf club analogy. I guess that's why i lot of people who can hunt in rifle land use 24" 30-06 rifles vs a 16" AR. They're hunting fields and have long 200+ yard shots.

amazing isn't it. it's like the inground swimming pool laws. if they're not fenced in you're liable. it's not until someone forces entry that you're off the hook. So basically you need to put a large fence up. And the hoody thing is not surprising, but like i said, it's worth a shot and depending on your area you might at least get a hunch
