  1. How to you propose they control herd numbers when they cut gun season in this scenario? I know 85% are taken opening weekend but guns take care of a massive amount of deer for NYS total.
  2. Hunt the woods and get recovery rights from your neighbors, never hunted fields personally.
  3. Every tow vehicle has a tow rating, even if you only plan on towing it once and leaving it, it is still not a good idea to exceed the rating and you should stay under the rating. Just because a truck says it is rated to xxx weight that doesn't mean it can handle xxx weight. Campers have batteries and you can run most of the stuff on that, you would need to charge it between uses is all. Fridges and heaters run on propane so no worries there.
  4. Looks like two different young 8's to me and the one looks slightly older in the other series of pics. I haven't seen too many 1.5 8 points around here and you appear to have two there, cool.
  5. Here is a link to Easton's arrow selector. As I said in another thread, you would be fine with that arrow length to go up to a heavier spine. The recomended spines are in the .320 to .340 range but you could handle a .300 spine and have a heavier broadhead. http://www.eastonarchery.com/store/shaft_selector
  6. I agree, I don't know that a speacial season will have a major impact but I don't think it would hurt things either, if you don't want youth's hunting with you, don't allow them on your land.
  7. I think some guys over think and analyze things too much, relax, hunting is fun and we should get kids involved. Maybe instead of arguing BS go out and get involved some way. Just saying
  8. I remeber two occassions where I got nailed by bee's while riding a motorcycle, first one got down in my shirt and stung the crap out of me and the other went into the open visor of my helmet. It sure is hard to swat and maintain control of a motorcycle at the same time..hehe Glad I don't have to worry about that happening more. Might be the best thing about not owning one..lol
  9. Stay standing and have a big enough platform to turn around on, make sure you have enough room with your safety harness to turn. Problem solved.
  10. Wooly, quick go see if you can fly or swing from a building with a web you might have been bit by the same spider that got spider man!
  11. The 400 doesn't necessarily mean that's what the spine is, different brands use different numbers and they are not always the easiest thing to figure out at a glance. For example, I shoot 70 pounds, 29 inch draw and use carbon express Piledrivers 450's, the spine on mine is .300 (I think) and the weight is 13.6 gpi which puts my total over 500 grains with a finished arrow and tip. The spine is the important part on any arrow, to much or to little and you will have problems with arrow flight. Things that affect spine are length of arrow and the amount of weight up front. A longer arrow will have a weaker spine than a shorter one and more weight on the front will also work as a spine weakener. But by shortening an arrow by as little as 1/2 an inch it will stiffen up the spine. Weight is also important, I prefer heavy over light any day of the week in a hunting set up. But it must work for your set up, if it is me I go with the heaviest properly spined arrow I can afford. You could drive yourself nuts messing with different arrows and lengths, weights, point weights, fletching ect. Welcome to archery lol.
  12. More weight may change your left right too, more weight up front effectivly works to weaken the spine of the arrow. I saw a difference from 75gr to 100gr, and also a little shorter arrow this year.
  13. I bet it might be fun to own one but I can't say I care to know how slow my set up is at 500 something grains total.
  14. Send me directions and I'll go hang your stands and hunt them while you are busy. : ) I can relate, just got done doing our roof so I have season free, I need a nap. You can always hunt from the ground and hang a stand in the afternoon, been there done that. And I never hung a stand last year either, such a pain hanging stands some times.
  15. You could move the sight bracket a bit and split the difference, be a little off at close ranges and closer from farther. Or you could move the rest and spend three weeks getting it back to being just right like I did... Hehe
  16. Nothing like finding something misplaced. Say you think Mr B. would like to help me find a walkie and a wristwatch I lost? The watch missing is more important, I never know when lunch is and worse yet it was a gift from my wife and she is still mad I lost it.
  17. Where's Pygmy with a joke?
  18. What percentage yearling take will make you guys happy? 0 ain't gonna happen obviously, how about 55 percent will that do? State wide yearling buck take is currently 55% and dropping on its own. Not bad considering it was much higher not long ago.
  19. 11 Should be old enough for a few hour hunt, a ground blind helps too. I need to get one of them for my gang. My son's first trip we walked into deer on the way in and he and my Dad got bored in five minutes and went over to the creek to skip rocks and sing songs..lol Now at 8 he is more ready to go with us than ever before.
  20. Yes and we can do our own survey too, I just checked and out of those surveyed by us 100% are against AR's...lol
  21. So you are saying he (biologist) is wrong and you are right? Do know the article I am talking about? He proved every one of your points you have continuosly made wrong is all I'm saying.
  22. So does that mean you don't have an answer to the article or are you going to act as if it does not exist?
  23. Actually you are wrong, as was proven by Jeremy Hurst in the article I referenced earlier.
  24. Actually thats not what he was implying, stop stretching Joe. It is of no benefit to the herd, the herd is healthy and that has been proven, you just don't agree with him.
