Looks like the Columbus Day Youth season is on!
Doewhacker replied to Buckstopshere's topic in Deer Hunting
What ever you do, don't turn in the lawbreakers to the proper authorities. -
Threads like this remind me why my family gets attention in hunting type settings when we show up all together, 3yr old, 8yr old, mother and father. I guess its just not the norm any more. The first question I ask no matter where we go is always, "Can my kids come with me" if no then we don't go most times, although I have not encountered any no's that I can think of. Hell the guys at the gun range watched our kids while we shot skeet a few weeks ago.

As long as we don't get flooded out of our best spot again I'll be happy. The last two years were bad for us but this year the water level is the lowest its ever been, no wader's required because we can cross with our boots on.

Yes, I'll only mentor qualified youths through a questionaire..lol 1: Are your parents a pain in the butt?

They cut up home already and most of the fields are done. I don't see a whole lot of waste with the modern combining equipment, not much left for anything to eat. The sooner they cut the better for me, as long as its not like last year where they left it up till November.

So bring the parent with you in such a case, not like it would kill the parent to be involved in their own childs interests. Not like I love playing or talking Pokemon with my son but I do my best to act like its interesting to me because he loves it.

Its not far fetched if you consider that Obama is also working with Super Man, Bat Man, Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, Mickey Mouse and Buzz Lightyear. It will be a multi facited attack! He is also campaigning at funny farms and loonie bins to get the insane on his side and is training them to be his Army of opperatives. YOU'LL SEE!!!!!!

I am really hoping to see some when we go to Maine in a couple weeks for bird's, it would make my season to see one there.

So you don't think that Antler RESTRICTIONS are a restriction? lol
-
Those are funny aint they? I was laughing when I took them out of the box with what seems to be the smallest 3D target out there. haha
-
Thats my vote too, I also saw one last year, I was confused until the topic came up here last year and then the light bulb went on.

I think next year I am going to buy a half dozen alluminum to practice with to save money. lol

I would like to thank all of you for cursing me today, 40 yard Robinhood, yes I was aiming for the other arrow, I just didn't expect to do that from 40. Here were my first 3 from 30 with no warm up..just for SteveB. Personally I think every arrow should be good enough to kill a deer this time of year.

I was inspired by all of you and went out and shot a nice Grey this morning, had so much fun I plan on going back tomorrow. : )

Pee is pee, just let it rip. Lots of guys go in scrapes and it does not spook deer, imo.
-
My guess would be 125-135, not real long bodied doe's but deffinitely big. Shoot a couple samples would you? lol
-
They look delicious reuardless of what adjective you use to describe them. haha

right hand shooters...shooting towards the right??
Doewhacker replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
Am I the only one that stands most of the time? I have never had a problem getting into position to shoot because I stand with my bow in my hands ready to go most of the time. Wait for the deer to go behind a tree and make final adjustments and draw when I can. Maybe this is where hunting from the ground will help prepare you for hunting out of a tree stand better. I learned quickly what can and cannot be gotten away with when a deer is coming in. Tree stand hunting is relatively easy after hunting on the ground for years. -
I don't have cable any more but when I did, I liked that guy's shows. He seems like a fun guy to be around. I will say that I do not miss seeing any of these shows.

The shape of the vane does not matter honestly provided you have no clearance issues with the rest you use. Speed doesn't matter either when considering what vanes to choose. Its just that Blazer's are currently the cool thing on the market. Feathers are still the best for stabilizing, they are just finicky in wet conditions.
-
The theory is that the Blazer type vanes help stabilize a broadhead tipped arrow quicker. I shoot them for the last few years but I am going back to the traditional style 4in vane now. The Blazer's are a bit too high profile for my liking so I found a vane a little shorter height wise. Not much difference in performance, mostly hype and advertising. I will say that I had more problems getting the Blazer's to stay glued on a Carbon arrow than any vane ever before.
