I had to put down an injured Mink the other day, if you want I can go dig him up and mail the head to you free of charge. I leave him in the zip lock bag even. Poor lil guy got attacked by a bigger male or a fox. He’s been living under the chicken coop all winter. Sighhhhhh

You would think after a few years Federal would increase production a little or stores would stock them but no such luck. My teen will use the 870 12 I gave him last year and I just might carry the 20 once or twice. XR across the board here.

Where have you been the last few years? DEC’s position is clearly stated on pages 53-54 of their deer management plan where they say, “DEC supports the use of crossbows during any hunting season in which other bowhunting equipment is allowed and recommends that eligibility to hunt with a crossbow be the same as eligibility to hunt with a vertical bow.”

I am surprised a man of extreme intelligence such as you doesn’t know the history and reason why it is what it is. NYB was pushing to not allow crossbows like they always do and the law was getting passed much to their dismay so what they did was push to have it not considered a bow, weak lawmakers agreed so they could go home and say they accomplished something. This later brings us to what we have today where a new law needs to be passed to let DEC decide what to do with it. DEC has to consider it a muzzle loader by law not by choice or common sense. So if it can’t be considered a bow by law and they need to have it covered in the safety course that left them with no other choice but to put it in with the gun corse. I’m willing to bet that will change down the road but who knows. As far as ideas here’s a simple one, pass the law and let DEC decide what they want to do which is put it in bow season. I think you suffer from keyboard diarrhea, it’s a condition where a person just keeps responding to threads no matter how dumb and pointless it gets like this one. I nominate wolcot and storm to be the DEC brain trust for their genious ideas. I really thought these type of threads couldn’t get any dumber but these two are proving me wrong with their innovative thinking. I think l lost more brain cells reading the last series of posts than wolcot did when he had brain surgery.

Can’t admit you are wrong I see. Im not talking about what the news said or opinions, the polls were right just like the data the DEC already has that shows a majority in favor of expanding crossbow season. And this is yet another wasted thread, the only thing stopping crossbows is the law making process. I wonder if this election cycle will be enough to get it pushed through finally. Your opinions don’t matter much at this point.

My dad has been into the rookery nearby daily to snap pics, interesting birds. While there he gets ducks, owls and Osprey that are close by too. I’ll never forget the story of my male bird dog grabbing one Heron that happened to be hunting up the small creek that runs right in back of the house within 12ft. He rounded the corner of the garage and saw it while my wife screamed and he quickly latched on to it. Luckily he listened to her when she told him to leave it or that bird would have been dead in short order.

You should be all over using a crossbow, you admitted before you don’t have the ability to shoot your bow a lot because of where you choose to live. Crossbow would be perfect for you.

Actually she won the popular vote so the good polls were correct. The one (the name escapes me) had her getting the popular vote and the race to close to call over all. So basically you just cited an example that proves proper surveys or polls do in fact work.

1. They don’t need 600,000 responses, just a small sample size and they can figure it out like they already have. 2. I ain’t paying for a survey, way past that part like I already said. 3. It’s too bad there wasn’t someone pushing legislation that would let DEC make decisions like this and others. I don’t know if many would be against that but I am sure we could do a survey to find out.

The DEC doesn’t need anymore surveys, they have a couple and got the same results and believe it or not they can use statistics from a smaller sample size to learn what a larger survey will result in. They are well past the survey stage, and not all 600,000 licenses sold deer hunt, bow hunt, or give a rats ass about crossbows. Why waste time on another survey to get the same results. Again, it is up to legislators to get this done not the DEC.

Well it has nothing to do with the DEC so Why would they need a small poll? We hunters decided we need lawmakers to decide our fate a long time ago.
