  1. It might be easier for the rest of us if carpenter just looks up any one of the other Ted threads. I don't think we need to repeat our selves.
  2. geeze you old timers have good memories...mine first buck was also a three pointer, shot it with the bow during a drive, also had a button buck come through that was within about three feet of me first. I passed on the lil skipper and ended up with the 3. I hit him at @ ten yards as he was walking in the artery along the back and he fell over with in 50 yards, I was a youngster and I think it was my third deer and it was deffinitly my second with the bow. I do vividly remember the blood that came out of him the second I hit him, that was something. And I will have to research the archives to see where the old man has the pic, its in a book somewhere I'm sure.
  3. Who is this Ted Nugent guy anyway? Never heard of him...
  4. The only things we can do is cut back driving and opt for better mpg cars, easier said than done in both cases. Prices are set on the stock market so we are not in power to affect change there, unrest in the mid-east effects production of crude which then in turn effects gas production here in the US. I was reading about these companies that are claiming to be able to get oil from growing algae and plants, both are not really effective methods at the moment but at least there is some one working on it and maybe some day it will work..who knows. Now if by some miracle they could grow oil, that would change the game dramatically. Or maybe we will all be driving around in electric cars some day.. but then the price of electricity would go through the roof..haha
  5. I checked that out a little and it looks like a neat program, it cuts out the middle man so to speak. What size group did you go with, and do you think that had any impact on getting a better spot. Thanks for providing the link.
  6. I feel for the people that are affected by the price jump drastically, we just may cut back on some other stuff but a jump from what we pay now really isn't that bad other than the shock value of paying over $4 for a gallon of gas. And No I am not ok with paying more for gas..I just have no choice because I need to work. Every dollar increase works out to about $1500 a year more for my wife and I, or the price of a new gun or bow as some one else said.
  7. Yea Burt but thats not magic! haha Yes there is a sensor that can tell the difference in fuels, Burt is right.
  8. But your fuel mileage goes down the tubes, and you cant tow anything using the E85. It doesnt actually work out. Yes you can, maybe not when it first came out but now its fine, it actually produces more HP, but as stated 100 times the mileage goes down.
  9. Got atleast another foot from last night to this morning..its never gonna end!!! :'( This storm had a mixed bag of crap, ice, sleet the whole nine, it caused a large limb to come down in the back and take out a section of fence. Kinda like a grand finale....
  10. wow really! I will have to look into it for the wife and her Suburban. Does it worsen the milage by alot?
  11. We are getting a mix but are in the 2-5 range for Sunday. Ofcourse the line for 5-10 is narrow so who knows for sure but I'm hoping for rain..lol There is plenty of snow on the ground still, it made it a mess today.
  12. Maybe you will luck out and find the same model but just a bit newer then, that way it will be change but not real difficult change. ok I'm done hijacking...sorry.
  13. I got a lightly used (ha) Martin for you... can you shoot lefthanded? If so make me an offer....haha Of course its probaly way to new for you steve863, I think I bought in the early 2000's.
  14. No I can't think of any but there is plenty of land to try, don't forget we have lot's of snow up north still. Have you used the DEC map yet? Or if you are really bored take a ride up my way and ask a farmer, they should be willing to let you rabbit hunt I would think. I am in the Town of Northumberland, Gansevoort Scyhlerville area and there are lots of farms and hedge rows to try. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45415.html
  15. steve863, what kind of decoy do you use? Let me guess a blow up doll of some kind? lol
  16. Well I also have to disagree, pot can be a gateway drug. I work in a rehab and there is hardly ever an empty bed here and alot of them will tell you the stories of how they go from one drug to another and it all started when they were kids smoking pot. On the other hand it is not a violent or potentially deadly drug when compared to what else is out there. I am not a professional in the field by the way, and these are just my personal observations aswell. I am in the back in the kitchen and housekeeping departments but beleive me we see and hear alot of crazy stories and people...kinda like this forum..lol
  17. Or this.. http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php/topic,3439.0.html Still a big bear though.
  18. We got ours from LLBean because of their warranty policy. Winterwalker is the brand I think. Love em they work great.
  19. "I live just west of Saratoga, near the Sacandaga Lake(NY)" Hey I live the other side of Toga, near Schylerville, Town of Northumberland to be exact.
  20. "The reason I would shoot a cut on contact is. Depending on your shot angle, distance, etc. I doubt you will get a pass through. That being said, I would want something that is still cutting everytime that deer/arrow moves. If you got a good sharp broadhead in there ripping things up as the deer runs away.." I agree with that 100% I was surprised when my wife's arrow burried all the way up to the fletch's on the one she shot two years ago. I didn't think it would have performed that well, boy was I wrong!
  21. And what ever you choose...match the field point weight accourdingly.
  22. My wife shoots a simular set up as your's and we both use 75 grain muzzy 3 blades, I would recomend you two shooting the same type of BH for the simple reason it is easier for buying purposes. I am also a fan of fixed blades, and I wouldn't go over 100 grain especially for her. At 20 yards those deer will be in trouble!
  23. I have seen those bobble heads and the head down one's too, sounds like they work a bit better than my old one's.
  24. It goes alot faster with two or three guys doing it too, especially the packaging part. I make sure I have my wife to help with that part otherwise it takes forever. By the end of the year my dad, brother and I can get one done in less than an hour, plus packaging time.
