What choke/shot combo do you use ?
Doewhacker replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Turkey Hunting
I use a Superfull Choke on my 870 12 gage, it is great out to at least 40. Never patterened beyond that because I have no desire to shoot one that far. I like em up close and personal when I pop them but have shot one at 40. I aim for the feather line as VJP does when they are close. I forgot to mention I use Remington 3" #5's or Federal 3" #5's. -
That could be! I never could figure out that nickname on account of the fact that I have a soft head..oopps!
-
Thats why I wear a helmet, its not cause I'm soft headed like they say. ???
-
Yeah, I know what you mean by stepping on it! Luckily I don't wear shoes often. Thanks for clarifying!! I use mine like an Opposom's tail, I sleep upside down in a tree to avoid the Leapords.
-
hahaha Is your full name Pygmy Tripod? Did you ever mistake it for a spear and accidently throw yourself at an animal?
-
Hell Pygmy you were there too, you were to short to make it on the screen though. They didn't pan down to your level, sorry. And it is actually a Leapord skin mink lined thong, as I said it has gotten a bit snug over the years, what started as a loin cloth has turned into a thong.
-
I am wearing the loin cloth that I made from the Leopard hide right now! Its a bit snug but still works. I think the guy that sent them was named Eddie but can't be certain?
-
OMG.. Pat you just hit 666 post's with that one! ahahahahahaha
-
That was quite a hunt, live human bait is often frowned upon but it works! what was the name of that american that gave us the crossbow do you remember?
-
Here comes the tide of doewhacker and steve863 saying who give's a s@#$.
-
I left part out for fear of some of the other's not likeing us any more. But yes we are there, it was a youth church program we were part of.
-
OMG Steve hahahahaha, you forgot to mention that you and I went on a trip and filmed those children after we taught them all what is right in the world. No need to be bashfull steve, we did the good work. You know its bad when steve863 and I stay out of it for the most part guys.

"...but I read something a few weeks ago on how expensive it's getting to park one of them at campsites these days." As WNY said it certainly can be pricey, the range for full hook ups seems to run 40 to as high as 80 a night. We don't bother with the super expensive places and tend to run in the 40-50 a night range. And when I say full hook up that means water, sewer, elec, and cable. Some site's are money grubbers too and like to charge for any thing they can including any kind of activity for the kids, we have never been some place that there wasn't a long list of things to do that don't require money like hiking or a beach or whatever. And some sites are noisy, we learned to ask a list of questions before booking a site, are the rules enforced, do you keep it quiet, most places you can get a feel for from online reveiws. I will say that it is much quieter inside a camper than it is a pop up or tent especially if the ac or fan is running. Elmer, I stored mine at a local fair ground, I'm sure other ones do the same. "I see some of you guys have apartments on wheels" I'll laugh myself to sleep while I snuggle in the ice cold AC watching my flat screen tv listening to surround sound..HA! Yea I'm spoiled and loving it.

It ran us $8 a foot for a pole barn, inside storage was $10 a foot. So for me it was $264 for October to now. I choose to store it so I didn't have to worry about the ten feet of snow we get causing leaks or worse. Plus it takes up 33x8 feet of my drive way on the side of my garage which is fine in the summer when its gets use but not so great the rest of the year. Thank goodness we have a large enough drive way.
-
Its almost camping time fellas! Gotta go pick our's up next week from storage, can't wait!
-
Its the same in other industries too, shame really but it serve's as a reminder of how fortunate I am to have a job and get raises.
-
Now that is an excellent idea, it would have to be done in the AM before nap time ofcourse. My dad used to see a old guy with a big belly and say, "Boy look at that guy, he must be a hell of an archer, what form" Now he is that guy hahaha By that way, thank you for knitting me the mink lined thong, its nice and warm and I may even wear it when I go bear hunting, (thats a reference to hunting in the nude not the animal).
-
Maybe guy's could utilize the PM feature instead of airing the personal attacks on every thread.

Its melting good where I am, we were spared the last one thankfully. Lots of mud and standing water now from two days of rain which I will gladly take over snow!

Here's a place that sells the solar panels, I see no reason why this won't work just fine for you. http://www.siliconsolar.com/12v-automotive-solar-battery-charger-4_8w-p-16652.html How are you going to run the power from the batt to the camper? Or are going to run it directly to the fan some how? I know I can run certain things in mine straight off the batt if I chose to, like outlets for coffee makers.
-
Let me start by saying this is way off my scope of expertise but I will try to add my two cents. With my camper I can have the battery hooked up and the camper plugged into a power source at the same time but it also has a inverter in it so I don't know if you could have the solar panels and use the battery at the same time. I don't see why you couldn't but again what do I know..haha How much power could a fan draw off a battery in the first place? I would think a car batt could last you a while and you could charge it when not in use at home. If that doesnt work then I'm sure the solar panels would be able to provide enough juice to trickle charge that bad boy up while you are out at camp. I would test what ever idea you come up with to see how long it last you at home, but Im guessing you are smart enough to figure that out any way if you are smart enough to come up the ideas you already have.

Your favorite Outdoors / Action Movie ?
Doewhacker replied to fasteddie's topic in General Chit Chat
I dunno, Braveheart maybe? That was a good one. -
Did you see the bunch of deer on the side hill by exit 12 a couple of weeks ago? What a sight that was driving to and from work..lol They were bedding at the top of the hill there for about a week straight. We used to drive an hour to Turkey hunt but now I prefer to hunt right around the house, not a lot of pressure after opening weekend for the most part and I'm sure you see the amount of farm land around which is great for Turkey.
