  1. Lyman offers lefty’s in flint lock or 11 cap in the Deerstalker and Great Plains and Traditions has a Deer Hunter in left hand too. There ain’t a lot out there for lefty’s in the ML world. I bought the Deerstalker about twenty years ago and my choices were limited then too. The good thing is they can be purchased online and shipped to your house.
  2. Its tough to find an inline ML with a wood stock, and one that isn't a bunch of money. The draw back of this gun is that it wont shoot BH209 with out a little drill work to the Breech plug and it has been known to have a larger bore compared to others. The right bullet will take care of that.
  3. I have discovered the best way to get a new gun is to have my son (who is also a lefty) adopt one of my older guns. This ML season he carried my Lyman Buckstalker and loved it so I decided to let him have it and get myself a new gun. I have wanted a Mustang for a while and I like Lyman so it was a no brainer. I was able to find one on muzzle loaders.com for a great price of $269 and ordered it up. It’s not a high end gun by any means but it will get the job done, fits and looks good. The wood is actually a “wood finish” but you’d never know by looking at it. 1/28 twist will handle any bullet but I am going to start with my favorite Hornady Great Plains in 385 grains pushed by Goex. Eventualy I will add a scope, nothing fancy but serviceable will do the trick. I can’t wait to carry it next year!
  4. My Dad has been busy taking pics of eagles for a few weeks now, recently he has been on the Battenkill In Washington county.
  5. What color crayon are you eating now and how does it taste? You judge numbers of hunters state wide based on cars you see parked where you live? Makes sense.
  6. The next thing you know they will making us buy permits that tell us what deer to shoot and when! Wait they already do. For me, a shorter season has nothing to do with bucks, its all about healthier deer. Less stress=healthier Also if a shorter season means less bozo's breaking laws (baiting, trespassing, ect) then great. Would having less hunters in NY be a bad thing? Yes we need new hunters but do we really need the most hunters in the NE?
  7. Got a new pair of Bogs, as if on command my other ones sprung a leak on the last weekend of rifle while I was midway crossed an icy cold Katterskill Creek. No worries, I survived the ordeal. Also got a Cabelas hand muff that I asked for after I saw it on here and reloading stuff I wanted like a case prep machine. I have a new Lyman Ml on its way too, should be here Friday to Doe from Doe lol
  8. Nice rig Larry, if I were closer I would consider it. Now here’s a pic of Larry in action.
  9. Sounds like the clueless one is you bub.
  10. I have always found that when calling someone dumb it’s best to make sure you spell all the words in the sentence right.
  11. Aren’t you the same guy that didn’t know they got rid of Antler Restrictions in the Park last year? Even I knew you could hunt bear there this year and I will never even set foot in the Park.
  12. Bahahaha Some times you gotta stop drop shut em down open up shop.

That’s funny Lawd, at my pops we used to use a guy on a ladder and another to lift to get em on the hook for ever. Then I brought a gambrel over and it was so popular he stole it from me. After hanging we drag them into the basement at his place and lift them to the floor joists with a wood gambrel just like yours for skinning. It has seen hundreds of deer no doubt and still going strong. Not to worry I bought another gambrel for my house.

That 2 yr old might make 130#s soaking wet.

Exactly. It ain’t the method, it’s the guy holding the tape. You might even call the guy that fibs a dishonest scale.

Nope rigor doesn’t matter with age. I hope any one reading your posts can tell you are full of crap. If not, he is full of crap.

Rigor takes 24 hours not days. Longer aging changes taste and tenderness potentially but it’s really not a worry with deer. But then again you are looney tunes and nothing anyone says will ever sink with you about weights or being a slob ect.
  18. The only time I had a hang fire was when I had the bright idea to use 777. Never again. Goex always goes boom no matter if it’s an in-line or side hammer. Some of the Breech plugs have long flash channels, I would replace one if I had an in-line that had it.
  19. 96.5% of stats are made up, unless its on the internet then its true 100%. If his odd statement were true, NO ONE would kill anything short of giants.
  20. A couple months in hell might have a decent effect on some guys. Also you never know what the sentence will be because there a few different circumstances that come into play such as who the judge is, prior arrests, and who is pushing for a stiff sentence. Not to mention loss of a job and more, loosing a house is a definite possibility while locked up. But, criminals don't worry about consequences no matter the crime.
  21. Once I get a new inline and add a scope and BH209 I will carry one more.
  22. My one ML has a sealed Breech so the only way to unload would be to either fire it or remove the bullet with a screw attachment which ruins the bullet.
  23. Real Black powder is far more stable than triple 7 or any others aside from Blackhorn 209. I have left mine loaded for a year or more with real BP and never had an issue with it firing. I had a substitute powder once and it was useless after being stored in the house a few months.
  24. Over for me. Took a Hail Mary on someone else’s wounded deer as did my brother earlier before I saw it. I think it was a buck that dropped already from the injury based on track and body size. Three legged “limpy” made it another day but I’m certain it won’t last too long. I could go for another week sighhhhh
