  1. Well the good ones get killed, leaving the crappy ones to grow like the pic I posted. Some may not grow enough points before they die from something else. Everyone always forgets that deer die from various reasons besides hunters. Or once they get big the are rarely seen like every where else.
  2. You said it like it was a proven stat, I guess the reality is you pulled it out of your butt. Safety is tracked yearly by the DEC, I know the answer to my question and I also know when some is making things up like you did. The fact is we are a very safe state, it might be hard to improve on that.
  3. Let’s not leave out Wolc. He shoots 1.5s that weigh 175
  4. Have any stats to prove there is a change in safety?
  5. Here’s a common 2.5 in the area I mentioned. I hunt there about once a year now because it’s just not worth the drive and I can find much nicer bucks at home. If there were doe permits I might hunt more.
  6. Speaking for my own crew in 4S, Zero doe permits are issued. That is actually a decrease from before AR's. Sitting on the edge of a 150 acre field inside of another 150 acre wood lot my brother stopped counting deer after 70 opening day of bow. Maybe one out of all of those was AR legal and that was a 1.5. For the entire season there were 4 legal bucks spotted (some barely). Hundreds of deer seen and maybe 4 legal bucks. It is not like it is where you hunt, trust me.
  7. Season would have been better if I had taken off the days before I did, next year I will be off on the right days. It made sense when I back dated a fawn pic from 6/1, I was off by literally one day though I didn't know it until after the fact. It would be easier if my wife would work a second job and I retired at 38. lol
  8. Logging would be great for many species, too bad its all Forever Wild and will never happen. I hate forever wild so much I voted against the referendum on the ballot this year.
  9. MTD is the parent company but Cubcadet are not made by MTD. There is a big difference in quality between different brands. IMO My splitter has a Honda motor, I had to look it up. Lol
  10. I went with a Cubcadet 27 ton and have not been sorry ever. I cut and split @6 cords a year and it goes through it all some of which is giant nasty stuff. Great motor on it too. I think I paid $12-1300 Troybilt has been ok for me but there is a difference in quality. I have been switching over to cubcadet or other brands as the troybilts and craftsmen stuff dies.
  11. That’s right. No killing out of anger. Do it with love and on an empty stomach. Still really windy here so the boy and I passed. We did go out earlier for a bit in the nasty wind and snuck through a bedding area. Zip.
  12. Son and I are surrounded by a bunch of grey and red squirrels and chipmunks. We may have to shoot our way out. I think they’re coming for us.....
  13. It’s only fitting that on the last night of archery season I jump deer in sight of my house while going to check a cam. Lol
  14. I would live in one of those for gun season. Haha
  15. The little ones remind me of outhouses. Is there a trap door just in case? Lol
  16. Browning BAR Safari 30-06 this year. I hadn't even shot it in three years till this week, I still like it. lol
  17. Mine too lol A good one was in my yard while I was at work last week during daylight. What a kick in the nuts
  18. Unless deer are starving from over population or contract a disease that require more killed no season changes or AR have any effect on health. The deer are perfectly healthy through out most of the state that I know of. What changing seasons does effect is the number of deer around for the next year and beyond. A VERY large percentage of the take comes opening weekend so keep that in mind.
  19. I have taken AR's to the next level. I don't shoot ANY deer. TOP THAT!!!
  20. It relates back to the different stages of a hunter, those steps are important to developing skills later on. https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/hunter-education/online-course/responsible-and-ethical-hunting/six-stages
  21. That's yet another factor in this, lots and lots of people hunt solo or with one other person. If a bad hit happens sometimes you need help and input from others especially if the others have more experience. One other thing that has an impact is lack of experience across the whole experience. Gone are the days of shooting any deer to get better at it, now guys want to wait and shoot a big one out of the gate which only increases the chance of making a mistake. Not that making a mistake on a small one is ok I just think that it is less chance if getting buck fever on a 90# doe than there is on a 150 buck.
  22. "Stainless steel three blade mechanical broadhead with snap-loc blade retention system for easy blade lock down and reliable deployment. Considered barb-less, making it legal in all states that allow mechanical broadheads. Cutting Diameter: 1.5". "
  23. If it wasn’t for cams I would swear there ain’t a deer around on this side of the state. But they come through when I can’t hunt or when I go in a different direction this year.
