Before I reloaded that's what I used in my BAR 30.06, with great results. It grouped great and held together very well.

Lobster claw is on my hit list

It seems like it doesn't it? But then again he is from Montgomery County. I would love it if law breakers were banned on here, it sets a bad example for other folks starting out and those who don't know the rules. Break a law accidently and apologize, while still wrong, is way different from breaking the law and bragging about it and promising to continue to do so. -

Between the mapper and tax maps it is a hunters dream come true for looking for spots to hunt. -

This has to be one of the best posts ever, lol. "I know its wrong but I'm going to do it any way" They sell all that stuff under the guise that you can use it other states. -
Schoharie County, outside of Richmondville, and there ain't no flat land there lol. It's a whole different world down there sometimes.

Um no, just no, no you can't bait deer anytime of year. http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7197.html In New York, it is illegal to feed deer and moose by putting out any material that attracts them to feed. -
I'm not going too far into this thread but I will say, the bow kill% and gun kill% stay the same for a reason. It has nothing to do with attitudes, it is as simple as difficulty and total hunters. If you want to increase bow kill%, increase the season and add crossbows. The % will not be huge but it will increase and if you really want to see an increase change to a segmented season like the aforementioned states, Ohio to name one. Most gun kills are done the first few days of a season so there is a possibility that you could increase the gun kill% by offering multiple "opening days".

It "herd", not "heard". For the love of god.

Yes sir, he is actually left eye dominate and right handed but has learned from the beginning to shoot left handed.

So our son has been working his tail off for us doing all the poultry chores we throw at him and then some all summer (including 5am wake up call) on top of putting in hours at another small farm that go towards getting into the Junior National Honor Society, and 4-H and being a kid. I decided that he needed some type of reward and I had a good idea of what to get him. I already had the caliber in mind and all that was left was the gun choice. Being his first rifle and that fact that he is 12 I figured a 7mm-08 and a Tupperware stock would fit the bill nicely. I ended up with the Savage Axis and had to special order it because he is a southpaw like me and no cares about us leftys, lol. We we surprised him with it today, made him close his eyes and open them when I placed the gun in his hands. Of course we ran out back and fired a few rounds and he loved it. He is on the hook for the scope, I always teach my kids that hard work is rewarded and that you are responsible to earn the things you want in life. He saves every dollar he earns walking dogs and what not and has enough for a serviceable scope already. So proud of my boy, this is a big day for a dad. Now we we are off to a minor league ball game!

DEC Announces New Deer, Bear Regulations
Doewhacker replied to NY Trophy Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
That is how it has been for a long time now. And you can tag a doe with the buck tag in the late season. Never mind, I didn't realize you meant the doe only areas. -
The Grand opening stuff starts Friday but the soft open started today, http://stores.dickssportinggoods.com/ny/latham/4611/ Nothing too exciting to make me want to go wade through crowds and a measly $10 off $25 coupon.

Only had time run out and plunk one shot tonight. Again from 60, hit right where I was holding so I guess I'm done moving the pin.
-
My pins are all green, I don't even notice. I can see where that might be an issue. Lol

Here is an example of a DDP sight. Just cause
-
I hunted with a round guy the was practice drawing in the woods. When he bumped the trigger the arrow took off down the side of the mountain and he quickly exclaimed "Did you see the size of that buck!" We all laughed for a long time after that every time the story came up.

I have a .10 pin, you can hold under or over too as discussed here some where as "the lollipop method". I use use a decreasing diameter pin sight, .29-.19x3-.10. I love it.
-
It's addicting to me and offers a challenge I don't feel at 20-30 any more.
-
60, I have been adjusting my pin slowly because after switching to a drop away I have noticed flatter shooting at longer ranges. Getting closer now.
