  1. And FYI's a quiver sniffer is a hang on that wants to be part of the crew kinda, you know the guy that blows smoke to sound cool and heaps praise onto successful hunters. It came from Archery Talk and the "Ohio Booner" era.
  2. Let's change the topic. Question, can I sniff your quiver?
  3. Bogs has a life time warranty on their products, I'm on my third pair. The next ones I will pay for just because they are more than fair with their warranty. Smart wool, or Merino socks are the way to go IMO, ditch the old school heavy wool socks and thank me later. Unless it's really really cold I do great with smart wool and 1000g thinsulate Bogs. I had terrible problems with cold sweaty feet in the past and I will never go back to the old thick socks again.
  4. All I hear is the sound of Moog dropping the mic.
  5. Sounds like someone is jealous that Moog killed a giant buck with a recurve. No clue why you would accuse Moog of that, he seems like a hell of a nice, honest guy with lots of integrity. Jealous and selfish are not great qualities on the other hand. Oh and it's "Semi" not simi.
  6. I have a simi and a bilt action and even a pimp action shotgun. Wait a minute, what's a simi?
  7. Two things. 1. I thought that was your costume cause, damn you are ugly. 2. It would have been better if you put the pink panther pajama pants on for the photo. Thats right, that's an image I can't unsee nor burn away with alcohol. Well done on the hunt. I haven't been on enough to offer my sincere congratulations.
  8. How much bait do you guys put out? KIDDING Cool pics, was the bedding area already established or did you guys do a little work to improve it?
  9. I would go for a thermometer that can be linked to a smart phone along with a traditional thermometer inside the cooler. Like this https://www.amazon.com/SensorPush-Wireless-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Android/dp/B01AEQ9X9I/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1477491397&sr=1-2&keywords=thermometer+smart+phone Throw in something like these https://www.amazon.com/Moso-Natural-Purifying-Refrigerator-Freezer/dp/B00EPNDYRE and you are good to go.
  10. 38 to no more than 41 to be safe. Someone I am related to was supposed to hook me up with a walk in from a convenience store chain, I stopped holding my breath.
  11. Fibber. Its more like 2.4 mil in the north unless you have permission from every private land owner in the Adirondacks. lol
  12. Small parcel hunting can be tricky, I might have one ok stand location on that 50 acres or there might not be any depending on wind. That is why I like to have a list of options, with the wrong wind it isn't even worth hunting. It seems more and more guys hunt smaller and smaller parcels of land. It has been said before on here, the worst hunter can look like the best if he is on the right plot of land. I am still in search of that perfect plot so I can seem like the best hunter lol.
  13. My recent efforts to get more hunting grounds lead me to wonder just how many acres I have access too and how much others have. Here is a list off the top of my head. 50 5R 100 5R 80 5R 60 4A 260 5R 400 4F 150 4S That adds up to 1100 acres and doesn't include any of the State land I hunt from time to time, if I add that in its over 2000 acres. How about you, how much do you have to hunt on?
  14. I was wrong he has 260 acres, I made my offer last night and let him know I would not want to hunt until I earned it which he seemed to like. He offered to show me a spot on his 60 a crossed the road to hunt this year. You never know Rob...
  15. That makes it even better!!!! I remember when you were first getting started, seems like only yesterday.
  16. Never to late, I just picked up another 60 acres to hunt Friday and hopefully I can get access to more in that area. I also have plans to make an offer to my hay supplier down the road. He has 200 acres so I am going to offer my son and I to help next year during haying. Nothing ventured nothing gained. My goal is continue to get spots because I get bored of hunting the same spots pretty quickly, I am trying to find a balance of good land and deer numbers with how I like to hunt which depends on the day. Easier said then done, I snub my nose at some places I can go with fantastic deer numbers because I just don't like them. lol
  17. Awesome hunt, I love it when it happens like it supposed to. I remember when my wife was pregnant with our daughter and due November I hunted something like 6 times and killed 3 deer. Sometimes it just works out that way. Congrats! How many with the bow is this?
  18. Being such an expert you should be able to tell that Elmo's buck is most likely a late dropped fawn from last year making in a 1.5 yr old. Fawns don't grow spikes but I'm sure you knew that. So you have killed bucks the same age as him yet claim to be a super hunter. That's right those 6's are 1.5's too. You are are an embarrassment to hunting.
  19. A trip to Maine for birds runs over 2k for a week easy, gas, cabin, ect it all adds up. A few years ago I would have said whitetail hunts were top of my list but now I'd rather do a fly in bird trip for Ptarmigan or a longer road trip west for several different bird species.
  20. It's more likely "misuse" means guys putting the 4J tag on a deer killed elsewhere. I heard a couple guys hinting at that for a different western zone while at Wally World getting my sons tags. I would bet that a number of guys do that because DMPs can be hard to come by if at all in some zones in this side of NY.
  21. My full name is James Doewhacker. It's just weird that I took on hunting and found this site.
  22. I just started seeing bigger flocks this weekend, all in cut corn but no where I have access to of course. I didn't see anything early season around home either. I think they were all on the river instead of green fields.
  23. My son and I saw 12 doe this morning, I bleated one in to 5 yards here. Naturally it was the wrong side of the tree for him. I'm just happy to have him get that experience. He was shaking like a leaf after. If you look close you will see his head poking out around the tree lol
  24. I will throw in what ever amount of arrows I have for it too, they are Carbon Express Piledriver 450's. I have around 10 I think.
  25. My wife had hers taken out as an adult and it was rough until the scabs went off. Good luck. Have you been tested for sleep apnea?
