  1. Pygmy had one labeled "Remember TO hunt", unfortunately he misplaced it.
  2. It will be something if you turn the results into action. Take my advice, form a group, start a web site, write letters, write news letters, meet with the DEC and be heard other wise this was all a waste of your time. I might even agree with you and help, you never know.
  3. Who bashed him personally? I see more bashing for you and Beachpea than anyone else. My post was about why I didn't take his survey and provided input on what to improve on future survey's. Unless he plans on getting organized and forming a special interest group to push what he wants changed none of this matters. And what in the hell is with that nasty part about Mike?
  4. Huh? The Dec basically says that except we all know you advocate for going beyond what the laws states and doing as you please. Psst law breakers don't matter when deciding game regulations.
  5. It's obvious with your last two responses you have a screw loose. I used to have that opinion of survey sample sizes until Phade explained it on here once. You don't strike me as an individual that can change an opinion or learn anything you don't agree with though. So do tell what you have done to change or help hunting in anyway.
  6. Really? Where were you when the DEC stuck AR's in areas based on survey results of @230 people that were selected based on membership to clubs that were for the AR's? 2800 responses offers a significant statistical group to draw from but I won't bother you with that fact. Speaking of contributing nothing, what exactly did this survey contribute other than negative views of the DEC and what have you ever done? Give me a break, most forum members are content arguing BS topics here and will never ever do anything to promote hunting or attempt to change or prevent change of anything. I do attempt it.
  7. Agreed. I also pointed out to gjs4 just how easy it would be for the DEC to complete an email survey a few weeks ago when the Web-less migratory bird hunting survey came out. I am sure that got ignored too. If it were me, I would be pushing for the DEC to produce a survey on a larger scale in that format that might be use full.
  8. I had forgotten what a whiner you can be. You complain about only getting 700+ completed surveys and then when someone tells you why they didn't take it you attack them. Makes sense, self serving surveys that don't go anywhere are a waste of time.
  9. Grouse and Turkey have different survival rates and there are more of them, they also don't rely on farming grains like Pheasant do.
  10. They raise and release the exact same strain of Pheasant you did and the birds from Reynolds have much better and bigger pens that they are raised in, but I'm sure your birds are magically better and have better instincts.
  11. I didn't take the survey because it looked like a hastily thrown together and you were never clear on where the results would be shared and for what cause.
  12. That number may drop to 10% or less by next fall. The more Pheasants available means you will see an increase in birds of Prey as well and they are extremely proficient at picking them off.
  13. Predator control helps small game but weather and cover are bigger factors in survival rates.
  14. Its spelled Fisher, no "C". I agree, Avian predators lead the pack when it comes to killing birds.
  15. I hope you plan on continually supplementing your flock with more pen raised birds. The natural mortality rate is high for wild birds, the pen raised bird mortality rates are even higher.
  16. Nice find Skillet, (even if it's not a lefty). All you need now is 90 grains of Goex, a 385 Great Plains Bullet and a deer.
  17. I would think that following members around the site and attempting to crap on their threads would go against site rule #2. The same two members pop up in every single one of Mike thread's that there is, why is stalking permitted? It drove Growie away and will drive more away I am sure.
  18. My wife and I saw the one taken in Athens (Greene County) by bow, had it at ten yards but no shot to be had. A week later another hunter took it. Awesome experience.
  19. It wasn't much fun wrestling Saber tooths and riding Mammoths. About the most fun he had was making a new thong out of Leopard skin. Dang he replied as I typed this, low and behold he referenced a Mammoth! lol
  20. Yes during archery season they can. Are you new to archery hunting? Not a BS question, just curious. Junior Bowhunting 12 - 15 year old Bowhunters can hunt Deer and Bear with a BowRecent legislation lowered the minimum age from 14 to 12 years of age for youth hunters to purchase a Bowhunting license for big game hunting. Here are the requirements for junior Bowhunters: Youth must have completed a course in both Hunter Education and Bowhunter Education. Youth must have a Bowhunting license. 12-13 year old youth must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or a person who is 21 years or older and is designated in writing on the Mentored Youth Hunter and Trapper Permission Form (PDF) (24 KB). Adult mentor must have at least 3 years of experience hunting deer or bear with a bow and have a license to hunt big game in the same seasons. 14-15 year old youth must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or a person who is 18 years or older and is designated in writing on the Mentored Youth Hunter and Trapper Permission Form (PDF) (24 KB). Adult mentor must have at least 1 year of experience hunting deer or bear with a bow and have a license to hunt big game in the same seasons. Adult mentor must maintain physical control over the junior hunter at all times while hunting. This means the mentor and junior hunter must be close enough to talk without the aid of a radio and must be able to see each other. Junior Bowhunters may hunt deer and bear with a bow during the bowhunting and regular seasons
  21. Amen!! Guys forget kids have short attention spans, who the hell wants to sit out in the woods and not see any thing for hours. Make it fun and don't get hung up on being successful for one day and watch the difference. When I go with kids we have a blast first and foremost, sometimes for a half hour, sometimes longer. We explore, joke, pretend there is game around and eat plenty of snacks. We small game hunt, we hike, throw rocks in the water, what ever just to have fun. Hunting is supposed to be fun right?
  22. A 12yr old can bow hunt now, if the age was dropped to 12 for gun season they could still use the bow during gun just like 14 and up can now. It doesn't matter how this bill reads, that's how it would be.
