Canada banning wood stoves
Doewhacker replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If you spend two minutes looking into this you will find more info on it and less fluff like you see in the link provided. Basically Montreal (Not all of Canada) is following in the EPA's footsteps but at an accelerated pace and claiming it is for air quality. Smog if you will. Many of the new stoves on the market meet the standards but home made and plain jane fire places do not. It is a nearly unenforceable law for Montreal at this point and will most likely cost more to implement than any one is bargaining for. I have no doubt we will see something like this in the US but the good news is we have until 2020 before the severe restrictions and the list of compliant stoves is quite long. The sky isn't exactly falling on this one but, what's next is the question. http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=EPA-HQ-OAR-2009-0734-1790 -

Looks like a Colt copy, made in Belgium "In 1855, with his Model 1855 patent, Colt introduced a spur-trigger revolver that featured a fully enclosed cylinder. These handguns were officially named Sidehammer revolvers, but they also were known as "Root" revolvers after Elisha K. Root, who at that time was employed as Colt's factory superintendent and Chief Engineer. Based on the Sidehammer design, Colt produced the Sidehammer Model 1855 rifles and carbines for military and sporting use, as well as a revolving shotgun. In failing health, Colt expanded his factory on the eve of the Civil War, and began production of a new, lightweight .44 caliber Army revolver, followed a year later by a .36 caliber Navy version.[2] Dragoon carbines (other than the Belgian copies and experimental carbines) are rare. There are not many known examples, and it is most likely they were only available as a special order." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_revolving_rifle P.S. I am no expert, I just googled around a bit. The engraving and lack of further stamps tell me it is a copy/custom order gun. Also the crest is Belgian for sure, according to one site I saw, 1924 on that crest was used.

Can you guys turn the crazy up some more, I enjoy it immensely. You know how you don't die? Don't speed at the road block at a high rate of speed, then you don't jump out of the truck and run, and finally never reach for anything while at gun point in a tense situation. The video ruins both first hand accounts in one swoop, bummer. I wonder if they will release the go pro video from the agent closest to him, I bet not.

Dove Locations & Numbers in NY
Doewhacker replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I am talking about western US, not western NY. Pheasants are not released there like they are here, they have habitat and rear young. Are you really this clueless?- 32 replies

That's cause you old fellas use them as crutches when hobbling through the field. Those stocks are good for that. haha

If you can find a pristine old Browning it should only run @1000, there are many less than perfect guns going for $350-$600. I'll stick with my brand new one with no rust or wear marks though.

Dove Locations & Numbers in NY
Doewhacker replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Maybe if I use words you are used to hearing. Well stupid the point is they counted more Doves in the survey in NY than a similar survey counted Pheasants in the west where hundreds of thousands of birds are killed each year. Some how you still don't think there are a huntable population of Doves in NY. I guess Mike should just listen to you, the delusional pot head, about bird numbers in NY. Now go back to your he man coyote hater meeting, they need you. Its comical that you call some members anti hunting in other threads but you are in fact the anti hunter in every Dove thread there is.- 32 replies

A nice gun but it does nothing for me, the fore arm is way to skinny for my taste plus I have never been a fan of the boat paddle English stocks.

Dove Locations & Numbers in NY
Doewhacker replied to mike rossi's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Those are good numbers of birds per hour. Above Pheasant survey rates from the west where they kill close to 200,000 per year and the numbers are considered fantastic. I suggest sticking to hating coyotes and smoking weed Fsw.- 32 replies

It is available in 26, mine sports the 28 and I have grown fond of it. I reversed the safety (because I'm a lefty) and it is much better for me.

The new A5 is nick named the Brownelli because it is essentially a Benelli shoved inside a Browning aluminum receiver.

The short answer is Japan, here is the long form curtesy the Internet. John Browning presented his design (which he called his best achievement)[3] to Winchester, where he had sold most of his previous designs. When Winchester refused his terms, Browning went to Remington. Tragically, the president of Remington died of a heart attack as Browning waited to offer them the gun. This forced Browning to look overseas to produce the shotgun. It was manufactured by FN (a company that had already produced Browning-designed pistols) starting in 1902. Browning would later license the design to Remington, who produced it as their Model 11 (1941–1948). The Remington Model 11 was the first auto-loading shotgun made in the USA. Savage Arms also licensed the design from Browning and produced it as their model 720 from 1930 to 1949, and their model 745 with an alloy receiver and two-shot magazine from 1941 to 1949. Browning's long-recoil design itself served as the operating system for subsequent Remington (11-48), Savage (755, 775) and Franchi (AL-48) models.[3] Production of the Auto-5 in Belgium continued until the start of World War II, when Browning moved production to Remington Arms in the United States. The Auto-5 was produced by Remington alongside the Model 11 until FN could resume making the gun after the war.[4] Unlike the Remington Model 11, the Remington-produced Browning shotguns had magazine cutoffs. Some 850,000 Remington Model 11 shotguns were produced before production ended in 1947. In 1952, production of Browning models returned to FN, where it continued until the end. However, the majority of production moved to the Japanese company Miroku in 1975. Finally, in 1998, manufacture of A-5s ceased except for a few commemorative models created at FN in 1999. By that time, it was well established as the second-best-selling auto-loading shotgun in U.S. history, after the Remington 1100.[3] In 2014 Browning released the A5, a recoil-operated shotgun with external resemblance to the Auto 5, which is being manufactured by Miroku in Japan. PS a few Browning models are made in Utah. https://www.browning.com/customerservice/qna/detail.asp?id=90

Who's in for the rebooted Sweet 16? http://www.browning.com/products/firearms/shotguns/a5/a5-sweet-sixteen.html The part that caught my eye was, Weight 5 lbs 12 oz, but I ain't interested in a 16g. Now if Browning came out with a light weight 20 auto I might be interested as I already have the new A-5 in the standard 12g with a 28 inch barrel. This should further ruin the market for guys trying to sell used A-5's. Great for collectors though.

Palin hunting for a Vise...

I wonder how much it cost Trump for her "endorsement". She is something, she sites lack of support for her son's PTSD and then yells about more war in the next breath. Good thing she was out campaigning instead of supporting her son at home. Is Trump running to help democrats which he used to support fervently? Once best bud's with the Clintons now their enemy..how strange. -
Deer movement/patterns related to harsh winters
Doewhacker replied to NFA-ADK's topic in Deer Hunting
There are a lot of factors that dictate harvest numbers for gun season, snow for opening being one of the biggest along with timing of the rut. I don't think deer will remember a bad weather year, I think it is driven by food availability of the season and instinct. -
I am trying to sell my camper, does that count? lol We converted to renting cabins until we are ready to buy one. Meanwhile the camper sits in my yard.

Run off is my biggest concern, I have a small run off ditch in my back yard and let me tell you that sucker runs like rapids some times. A neighbor had a pond let go during one of the big storms (before we moved in) and that is also not something I want to deal with. That is why I will use a professional to take on the project, as much as I would like to do it my self, I value my neighbors property and safety more.

I think its simple, the deer run when threatened, be it a domestic dog or wild variety. If something chases them, they run. What do most humans do when something dangerous comes after them, escape, now what do humans do when they go to a zoo where they are protected? I am not suggesting Deer have cognitive thought, I am suggesting how ever its a basic survival trait of prey. Sometimes that threat is in the form of scent, sometimes sight ect. A great example would be the Saratoga battlefield, while walking in it you will be close to deer. Outside of the park they are hunted heavily and act accordingly. How is that?

A pond is on my short list, hopefully this year but I won't hold my breath. Did you consider folding the tree's into the pond to create cover for fish or ducks? That's part of my plan but I intend to use my pond for dog training so I need that kind of cover for my specific needs, it will have other dividends as well for nature. If I plan properly, the run off and feeding stream will provide wet lands for Woodcock, other animals and vegetation.
