Gotta keep the ones under 5 pounds they get fatty and strong flavored with age these are from Champlain

Grew up fishing the Hudson used to be just white cats after the hurricane blew out the mohawk now it mostly channels the best bait we ever used is raw shrimp also spent plenty of time on Champlain definitely bigger there same bait we would bring home a couple hundred pounds yummy blackened catfish

Definitely larger water snakes are females and yes most have bad attitudes i had one that was pretty good natured it’s almost a guaranteed bite and they have anticoagulants in saliva so you bleed more

Just an FYI most snakes will shake their tails in the leaves mimicking a rattlesnake and almost all will strike in defense think about how you look to even a large snake it’s scared just take a picture and walk away

Milk snake for sure to bad it’s dead all snakes are protected in ny and should never be killed learn to identify them before you have to decide if it’s harmless or venomous either way please don’t kill them

All bait is supposed to be covered that’s definitely visible and you definitely don’t want a hawk in a trap I have a skunk uncover a well buried bait and had a hawk in the trap while releasing it I found out how much power is in that claw all of them through my hand swelled immediately hurts way worse than a dog bite

I swore I would never rob my dogs of a day of life but when it was time I did the hardest thing I ever did and cried like a child all the way to the vet office you know when it’s time

Every where i go in pa and ny is devistated by them but with soo much timber available now why it lumber cost going up absolutely criminal also a sign of how much is out there is no one is picking up fire wood left along roads by tree trimmers -

I always walk over to big trees and touch them kinda like finding old fossils we have a massive hickory on our property that survey crews use as a landmark it’s on there records

There is nothing wrong with most heavy shot for turkey you don’t need a special load I have taken them with my grandfather’s 1100 with a straight load of 5s
