  1. it at least gets you close.
  2. use and definition is open for subjective interpretation. i live in a 3,200 sq ft house and work in the state's capital city of Albany as an engineer. however, i hunt, i fish, and have done many redneck associated activities. i grew up on my immediate families farm and was in 4-H as a kid. hard to argue i'm not if you hangout with me or know me long enough.
  3. don't you have camo crocs??
  4. that's a bit far. in more remote places with less people barriers they'll travel further. we've routinely had bucks travel several miles away as the crow flys they say (trail cam photos taken then buck killed that distance away).
  5. it's close to the holidays. I know @RangerClay is got something brewed up nice. I admit i'm not a wine drinker. I had some though with the rest of the family. His holiday white and awesome. It'd convert me if we lived closer. lol can't believe he hasn't posted in here. ...i meant to say distilled. lol
  6. I've got a cam set in the same spot as prior years that I was thinking about. I'll be checking it soon. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. i'm conspiring i admit. the miter saw will help with building a garage in the spring at the new house. once that happens a lot of crap will go out there that sitting in the "unfinished" basement now. once that happens my daughter might get a pink turbo charged side-by-side "to grow into". plus for a short period of time until finished i'll have an uncluttered basement that will serve as a 20 yard indoor range with a bow. further if the wife decides a couple no load bearing walls are in the wrong spot. as long as they're happy i should be too!
  8. ammo and components are kept in a 26-gun safe in the basement with 2 dehumidifiers; one desiccant canister and another plugin electronic one. seems to fit it all.
  9. looks good. all kinds of racket going on down in that basement. Got myself an early early christmas present too but it was a Dewalt 12" dual bevel sliding mitter saw. Needed it for different things with the new house and explained it couldn't stay boxed until christmas. I told the wife i'm done, however she wants to look at it. She said fine but it's going under the tree whether there's sawdust on it or not. first task was bracing for my daughters princess bed.
  10. better news is a few people got caught out this way, including a couple that decided to pull the same crap across the boarder into Albany county. They along with most of the others got caught at night and some are repeat offenders. they'll take it on the chin much harder now. fines start getting compounded and doubled twice.
  11. you didn't just have someone reprofile them?? even a custom knife the hardened steel goes pretty far into the blade.
  12. reminds me i have to get a rust eraser for my stones. can't seem to get the loading off some. only the course sides.
  13. for the record if you're not good at sharpening free handed on a stone just strope on the stone versus push or pull method like you normally would.
  14. @grampy, bob is right. the legislation got watered down to only double fines for jacking deer with a light and shooting a buck out of season. even then i burned vacation days meeting with law makers down town on behalf of the NYS QDMA advisory board to ensure it kept moving along through the process. those that worked at it before me spent time too. unless you showed up so they had to look you in the face not much would happen. to their only defense they do have a lot of bills to handle and move through the process. what makes that BS is the fact they don't work much of the year, despite they'll be the highest paid in the country now thanks to Cuomo trying to buy more pull. it passed but i'm afraid it doesn't help your situation.
  15. i've lived through this thread pretty much at work. i've hunted very little this season. it's going to make me stir crazy this winter.
  16. hoping my schedule stays clear for this weekend. freezer is almost full. totally blew off and forgot the deer contest posting. probably knock down one more. out with a bow saturday morning and then probably go check the ML and then take that out the remainder of the weekend.
  17. my primary care doctor whom i pretty much never go to has venison at some place down there for $80 a la carte. she said it's really good! hahaha she gets giddy and stupid when i come in and keeps asking if i still kill and eat deer and grow veggies in the garden. people that go down there are just different.
  18. mine's 4 yrs old going on (too wise for her own good). at least your daughter won't tell you "No" followed by an explanation of why she can't. lol
  19. depends on the knife. i've got a ken onion edition work sharp plugin sharpener that's a utility type of thing and used to touch up knives i've already had on it. then a 1000/6000 grit wetstone that's not a quick thing but makes an edge sharp as could be. i've got a ceramic fixed 20ish degree "v" sharpeners too.
  20. at a Christmas party this past weekend, my wife opened one of my mixed pack beers i wanted to try. Troegs Dream Weaver. She liked it eating some crab thing at the party. i tried it and wasn't a fan. Pepper and clove favored beer is weird. thought it'd be alright but it wasn't.
  21. i'm remembering this for someone else.
