  1. Here's Bowman heading out the door to go hunting today.
  2. So the shooter and the victim share the same last name. Did this guy shoot his wife? Maybe it was an "on purpose". Either way he is getting what he deserves.
  3. Chin Up Mrs. Big Indian - things will work out for the better for you. I had this happen to me about 8 years ago. I worked for a company for 12 years and 3 days after Christmas they decided to cut 2% off their bottom line which included all middle management. I had just bought a new used car on the 23rd and on the 28th was let go. I'm on my second job since then but things work out for the better. Received 1 weeks pay for every year there and unemployment as well so I doubled dipped for a few months. Rabbit season was stellar that year thankfully. Good Luck on your new adventure.
  4. I have no clue what you were babbling about in the first part (J/K) but the last sentence is 100% True
  5. Congrats on a nice buck.
  6. Last year we did a crockpot bar for Christmas Eve at my Uncle's place. Everyone made something different in the crockpots and it turned out awesome. This year we are going more traditional with a Ham but mixing it up a bit with a baked potato bar and all the fixins, Tossed salad, green bean casserole, bread, shrimp, and several other appetizers and of course dessert. My wife makes an easy peanut butter pie that is a huge hit.
  7. So come on over to my place later and Ill let you look down the barrel of my "unloaded" gun and tell me how you feel. Just because she is carrying a magazine and rounds in her hand doesn't mean that there cant be one in the chamber. I don't particularly like looking down the business end of any weapon and it makes most humans uncomfortable, besides you. Apparently you are not affected by any of this as you are a macho man who sits behind a keyboard bashing others for how they would handle a situation and basically called them cowards for not standing up to woman. What would you have done? Enlighten us. Would have tackled her? Would you have gone up and gave her a black eye? Would you have tried to reason with her? Would you have pulled out your concealed carry piece and taken control of the situation? Just curious how YOU would have handled it tough guy. I tried to explain this to my daughter the other night, its called situational awareness. Criminals will do anything they want, to whomever they want, whenever they want because they don't care about laws or hurting others. If you are aware of your surroundings and the situations you come across, a potentially dangerous situation can be avoided. Looking to get the police involved in not a coward move unless of course it is you. So again, if you aren't busy later, come on over, and better yet, I'll have my wife or daughter show you the business end of any weapon in my safe and then we can discuss how you feel.
  8. Sorry for your loss Papist. I'ts never easy but you have the memories.
  9. Very Sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family from your hunting family.
  10. It is a good video, however, you call that snow? HAHAHA Obviously it's not in N.Y... What state was this in?
  11. May sound funny but some of the older guys I hunt with use a pair of chaps to protect their clothing and skin. There are some nasty areas when we do drives and a few swamps so the chaps are a must unless you want to be shredded like cheese on a grater. As far as patches, I would think they would work fine. Spray the patch job with a little waterproof sealant after it is applied. Not sure on the boots but the shoo goo may work. Let us know what you figure out for future reference.
  12. Second that on calling first. My FIL went to buy powder last year the Sunday before ML opened. He stopped at a local guys place and got a lecture for trying to buy powder the day before the season. He had some already and sighted in and was getting more for his speed loaders. The clerk went off on him and then said he didn't have any.
  13. She's a big girl but your dancin partner looks light on her feet!!
  14. I agree with Chris and rachunter, no sealant needed unless you want it glossy looking. Mine look more natural without and if you change your mind down the road or if it does yellow a bit, you can always use some peroxide to whiten it. I hit one a year later with peroxide and it freshened it right back up.
  15. HEHEHE They think its another squirrel behind them!!!
  16. Thanks. That is the first one I have shot that had it spraying out over the snow like that , at least that I can remember so I took pics. I know someone posted one like that earlier this season in a thread and I was like Wow. Pretty cool to follow.
  17. Well said and most things are better than work.
  18. Herb and garlic pork loin before and after. Mashed potatoes and broccoli in cheese sauce
  19. 12.11.16 My buddy cancelled on me last night for this morning so I texted my other buddy and him an his Dad were headed to the 100 acre wood property. We tried yesterday to get a deer for his Dad with no success after trying for 5 hours. As I'm about 150 yards from parking, a small deer almost bolts in front of me but stops nd heads back into the hemlocks. That was a good sign. Parked and got out to shoot the bull and wait for sun up. I like to be able to see what I running away from me so I wait. I start to head up the road to where i head in and my buddy and his Dad go in right by the vehicles. I get about 5 feet from going in and my buddy says ,fresh tracks heading towards you. I take a few more steps and just get off the road and there stands a deer. Umm i was like, Holy $HIT they are fresh tracks. I put the cross hairs on the front shoulder and squeeze. Deer mule kicks and heads downhill and I hear a crash. Meanwhile another deer I hadn't seen ran following the one I shot. I slowly made my way to where the deer was standing and saw an amazing blood trail sprayed all over the snow. I follow and get to about 10 feet from my deer and look past him to see the second deer standing broadside looking back at me. I actually called my buddy and said hey, you want another? He said yes. I had two tags in my pocket so I tried to get a twofer. The second one moved after i hung up so he was quartering away and I hit a branch and got a clean miss. I followed the tracks for 100 yards across a ridge and no sign of a hit. Went back and field dressed the button buck, tagged it and went to my spot to hunt for a few hours. Within 10 minutes the crows were squawking at the kill site which was about 40 yards above my spot I was watching. I decided i didn't want them dirty birds picking away at the deer so I drug him up hill to the truck. Spent the next hour zig zagging the hemlocks for my buddy and his Dad to see if I could bump something to them. No dice. Left at 10am to head to soccer with my daughter. They won 2-1 against a U17 team and they are mainly a U14 team. Was a darn good day all the way around. I gave the deer to my buddy's Dad. He has hunted hard all year, bow and gun, and has only seen 1 deer, a doe, all gun season and missed it. He was very thankful for the venison and said thank you like 6 times. Glad he will enjoy it. Here are a few pics.
  20. I'm out of likes so Thanks for the likes everyone. Walking in at first light and it was staring at me from the Hemlocks. 30 yards, perfect heart shot. Unfortunately it was a button but my buddy's Dad was very thankful as I tagged it and gave it to him. He had only seen 1 deer, a doe, all season and missed. Now he has some tender meat to enjoy. Good luck to everyone this afternoon
  21. That's a HAWG and so is the deer!!!! HaHa just kidding. Congrats to Gary on a beauty. I'd love a last minute bruiser like that.
  22. Congrats on a great season. Great looking deer. My first deer was shot in Chenango County 24 years ago.
