Welcome. Nice deer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk

Yeah, that's definitely some bad ju-ju. Look up "unethical hunting" in the dictionary and I'm sure this video will show up.

I will on 11/16.

This afternoon, my brother-in-law and I got into an argument after he showed me trail cam pics of a 4pt and told me that "If I haven't gotten anything, I'll shoot it on the last day". We don't hunt the same property, as he hunts with my father-in-law on his property. Ironically, I hunt quite a bit on my mother-in-law's property, that my BIL lives on but has no interest in hunting. Maybe it's that he has an aversion to doing his own scouting or something. I told him he could sit in my blind and stands, but he doesn't. Anyway. I told him that my theory was that if I'd shoot it on the last day of the season, I'll shoot it on the first day of the season because I can't be sure I'll see it on the last day. Your thoughts?

Anything south and east of 4O is considered downstate. "Southern tier" is part of the "Twin Tiers", which are the counties that border the horizontal line between PA and NY. It's the southern tier of NY and the northern tier of PA

3s and 1c are downstate

Minute of angle (1" @ 100 yards) is pretty standard in bench shooting. I prefer minute-of-whitetail (any shot in a 10" kill zone at any range you plan to shoot deer). Figure out where you'll be hunting and at what ranges, then practice at that range until you can hit a 10" pie plate at positions you'll likely be shooting from (standing off-hand, standing with sticks, sitting, kneeling, etc)

I don't sign in every time I pull the page up. Most of the time, but not every time. Those could be guys/gals just popping in to check while at work.

Early, does this mean I need to move my blind from overlooking the pond because I've done my scouting (both with and without trail cameras) and determined that there's significant deer activity around the pond because it's unfair to ambush the deer while they're drinking? I guess I should set up in the blacktopped church parking lot, even though I've never seen a deer there, just to give the deer an advantage.

I LOVE my accu-trigger. It's a mechanical reminder of proper shooting technique. I can drive tacks on the range but when a deer is in my cross hairs, the accu-trigger has helped remind me how to shoot, even when shooting my -06 and my muzzy that don't have accu-triggers, resulting in more meat in my freezer. I won't buy another long gun that doesn't have it.

Since my range is on the property I hunt, I had my zeroes on my shotgun, rifle, and muzzy all set in the first two weeks of October. I try to have them done before bow season, since I know the neighbor is a big bow hunter, but with my grandfather dying, and my work schedule not cooperating, I had to push it back a bit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSKrSdAWoi4&feature=youtube_gdata_player I know a few guys like this.

It wasn't the computer's fault. It says right in the release that there were less than the expected number of applicants for DMP's. If there had been the expected number, or close to it, they wouldn't be mailing them out. I do like the idea of first come first served, but that hurts the chances of the guy that has to scrape together enough money for a license, and maybe if he's lucky, a doe tag too, and isn't quite ready on the day they go on sale.

Emails sent. I'm not a bow hunter, but I don't see the sense in paying someone to do something that many people will pay to do.
-
I, personally, consider myself a "meat hunter". I hunt, mainly, to put meat in the freezer. I prefer venison to beef in most meals, so I like to have as much of it as I can get. I'll take almost any deer that's legal for a tag I have on me at the time unless it's a real small one. That being said, there's no way I'd pass up a nice rack on a big buck if I had that chance at one.

For sure, take it down. I like the idea of leaving a note saying call this number to get your stand back and having it be the ECO's number. I hadn't thought of that one. I was going to suggest you take it down and put it in the corner of your garage, then in a couple weeks call your neighbor over for a cold beer and let him see you have it and wait for him to say something.

Yes for Westchester. No for LI, AFAIK

It's an awesome powder, if you can find it. I just went back to Triple Se7en FFg because I can't find BH209. I just use a regular black powder measure.

Why buy it online, when I've found it in a place that's local and I go to at least once a year? I just can't see the sense in paying shipping when I'm going to eventually drive by the place that sells it before I run out.

Most, but not all of them do. I know for a fact that the Ithaca store doesn't. I hunted all around Ithaca and Cortland for it last week. That's when I found the locator and found it in the Auburn store. Seems Wegmans is about the only place that has it.
