  1. I drive for a living. I've actually seen more than in the past few years it seems Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  2. Happened just about the same way last year except she was napping instead of playing. Can't wait til next year when she'll be able to hold my flashlight while im gutting it! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  3. Congrats. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks Steve. Grama lives just down the road and is always eager to help but I appreciate it just the same Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  5. It's not babysitting. It's parenting. I had to wait for my mom to get here to go get the deer because my wife works til 9 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  6. I took the first week off and got skunked. I was home alone with the baby tonight. Had just thrown a back strap from last year's last doe in the oven when I saw four or five deer in the field. Snuck outside while daughter was playing in her room. Took up a nice position about 120 yds away and let the Savage 220 bark. She jumped about 4 feet in the air on impact, wobbled about 50 feet and piled up. No tag soup this year. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  7. TC Shockwaves are just Hornady SSTs repackaged as TC and marked up even more. I've also found the sabots in the pre packaged packs are MMPs. I buy my sabots directly from MMP and save there too. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  8. I'm shooting Hornady .452 300 grain XTP in a black MMP sabot over 100 gr loose 777. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  9. only before October 1Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  10. Anyone think that maybe the 6 week bow season has increased the bow take the last two years? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  11. The ECOs in this area are pretty strict about this. If you're tracking after dark with a weap, expect a ticket if you fire while it's dark. I don't agree with it, but by the letter of the law, it's illegal Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  12. This is my place. I'm set up in my blind on the far edge ofnthe field watching some of the runways into the field. Usually have quite a bit of deer here in the evenings but they all seem to have disappeared once gun season started. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  13. I'm on 7j/7h border. It just got done snowing so hard I couldn't see the other end of my 200yd field. I'm set up in my ground blind waiting for something to decide it's hungry and come out in the field Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  14. I was taught to always approach from the rear of the deer with my weapon ready to fire. Seems like this guy could use to learn a little from my grandfather. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  15. I'm sitting here in my blind overlooking my field. I think I've spent more time restaking it down and tying it off so it stays put tonight than I have hunting. Now I think I've got it secured, it's time to get in out of the snow and wind and get some hunting done Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  16. I use one as some of my shots can be as much as 200 yds away up or downhill. At those distances, it can make the difference between meat on the table and tag soup. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
  17. I haven't hunted from a tree stand in years. I've had good luck from the ground and in blinds that I haven't had to climb. Well, I took this whole week off and have seen exactly 3 deer since Sat, and only got 1 shot off, and I missed. So a buddy suggested I come over to his place and get in his favorite ladder stand while he was at work today. Well, after 3 hours of riding the tree stand rodeo, I climbed down and vowed to never subject myself to that torture again. Ain't no deer worth that. Good on all you guys who do it and like it, but it just isn't for me. I'm actually glad I did it today, or I'd have made the huge mistake of buying a couple ladder stands for my mother in law's property. Instead, I'll just build a couple more box blinds on the ground.
  18. Layers, layers, oh, and more layers. And maybe some Army cold weather gear that I "forgot" to turn in when I got out. After a few hours, I'm ready to head in a warm up myself, so don't feel bad. Go in, warm up , have a cup of joe, then go back out for a few more hours.
  19. I'm a "meat hunter" and can legally put tags on 8 deer. Reg, my 4 DMP's (two reg issue and two leftover), 2 of my wife's DMP's, and my ML tag, not to mention the 2/day I can legally tag in the Tompkins County Focus Area.
  20. I'm "hunting" from the big blind known as my house today. If I see something out the kitchen window, I'll go out after it, but I'm not about to get sick being outside in the rain all day.
  21. I didn't hunt at my house yesterday morning. I did sit in the corner of my field in the afternoon and saw exactly 0 deer. Normally, that field is a main grazing area late afternoon into early evening. I don't contribute it all to him shooting Friday night, but I can't help but place some of the blame there.
  22. I wouldn't go as far as turning them in, but I also have family I don't hunt with because I disagree with some of their tactics. I agree it can be extremely frustrating when you're trying to do the right thing and everybody else just doesn't care.
  23. Saw a nice 6 but didn't get to take it. Saw nothing but squirrels rest of the day. Back at it bright and early this morning
