  1. It makes no mention if these are first time offenders or not, which I think would affect the fine/sentence imposed. Also age is often a factor as young people do stupid things which can affect their future hunting. BUT LISTEN GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT! REPUBLICANS CUT OSHA'S BUDGET NOT OBAMA. Washington – OSHA faces a 5 percent budget cut as part of an appropriations bill approved June 23 by a Senate subcommittee. The Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee is proposing to reduce OSHA’s budget, currently at $552.8 million, to $524 million in fiscal year 2016. The Senate subcommittee’s proposed cuts come a week after its House counterpart approved a budget that would reduce OSHA’s FY 2016 funding by 3 percent. The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider the full $153.2 billion appropriations bill on June 25. Such spending reductions can have negative repercussions for workers, committee Democrats warn. “This would reduce OSHA’s ability to enforce the Occupational Safety and Health Act, resulting in thousands of fewer investigations of potential workplace health and safety issues affecting tens of thousands of workers,” a press release from the minority party states. http://www.safetyandhealthmagazine.com/articles/12557-senate-subcommittee-approves-osha-budget-cuts
  2. No, because it is propelled by gas it is designed differently, including but not limited to the shape and the composition of the lead (or alloy) they do expand differently. I'm a NYer and I shoot an air gun almost daily and now that it is legal for hunting in NYS i go out often on long island and at least with small game I've always been impressed with the expansion and wound channel that air pellets make.
  3. I'm sure it's a good movie and I've already seen interviews with the stars who have themselves said it was a difficult situation to micro-manage. But it was just a movie. I would rather get my information from more accurate and reliable sources. There are more than enough people to blame from the republicans who cut embassy security budgets just two years earlier, to the ambassador himself who's brave but foolish refusal to shelter with the CIA cost him his life and others who may have mis-read a dangerous and quick moving situation. Certainly the soldiers (and ex-military contract soldiers working for the CIA) stepped up and did the best they could and paid for it dearly. To expect the President and Secretary of State to actively micro manage a fast paced dangerous situation with limited information from half a world away is folly.
  4. Perhaps you should have kept the comments to the movie and not who should be feeling shame for the incident in the movie.
  5. I'm sure it will haunt them as much as the THOUSANDS of lives lost in the mis-directed war in Iraq does Bush and Cheney. Not to mention the power vacuum that created ISIS. I can't list them all like you did since there are over two thousand but you can see and mourn them here, unfortunately not a movie. http://www.fallenheroesmemorial.com/oif/branch.php
  6. OK, so I've know about this for a long time and i have a big ole jug with salt and about 20 tails but, eh, I guess I'll get around to it....
  7. Montauk? = urban? huh?
  8. On Long Island there are numbered hunters parking spots that only Hunters can use, you can tell which are heavily used by the amount of trash they accumulate. The ones deeper along the dirt roads are always cleaner. At spot 41 which is a two hundred feet down the black top road from the East Port Biking trail, Spot 41 is trash laden and the Mtn. Biking parking lot is clean (except for the deer rotting just off the parking lot). Since I always have contractors trash bags in the car I have picked up at my favorite spots only to find them the same a few weeks later. I truly believe it is a very few who just don't give a crap, probably very local who feel a sense of entitlement over the woods they pollute not a sense of stewardship.
  9. Last day of Turkey season I saw no less than 8 deer 2 of which were nice bucks at Barcelona Neck. Today NOTHING! Froze my @#!%$&*%#$@# ASS!
  10. Harvests are posted daily at the ridge ranger check station. If I am lucky tomorrow and have reason to be at the check station after my hunt I will post the results so far.
  11. No need to travel so far from Brooklyn like Shawn said, plenty of Bobcat in Columbia County's Berkshires!
  12. Pretty much all things foraging, I love knowing what I'm looking at when hiking so I usually carry one of the small guides I own, rock hounding, Tree & plant Identification, animal tracks, mushrooming & birds. I use my air gun all year long to keep sharp. Indoors hobbies include collecting coins (American and European city-sates), minerals and crystals, real paper books. I video game also mostly FPS or sandlot games, and I am a gadget-aholic with a fetish for LED lighting.
  13. Here is the thread: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/30881-dec-announces-proposed-rule-changes-to-allow-big-bore-air-rifles-for-big-game-hunting/ Just google up Big bore Air Guns and you'll see what everyone is talkin' bout!
  14. Found this Wednesday morning as I was scouting some hunting spots on Long Island and I left plenty on the tree!
  15. I have a back yard air pistol and air rifle range set up so I actually shoot often. I trap or skeet once a month and alternate that with either Brookhaven, Islip or Calveryton range.
  16. On Long Island I get a old scuba tank filled to 3500 psi which is enough for me. 3500 psi is the highest most scuba shops can go and my guy in Northport charges me $3 for a fill up and comp-ed me the last few times. The tanks specifically for airguns are 4500 psi tanks.
  17. Big bore air guns have been around since the 1600's why would there be a NICS check now? My .30 caliber air rifle is the same now as it was before being legal for big game hunting so what am I missing?
  18. Just another tool available to Hunters. I am surprised at the amount of negative responses. If it increases the number of responsible hunters then I fail to see much of anything negative about it. I air gun hunt often depending on weather and my mood. I sometimes carry my .22 caliber air pistol deer hunting with me because I've learned that when hunting squirrels you will see none but when hunting deer squirrels will give your location away. So with my air pistol I eliminate the #@%*$^% squirrel. (In N.Y.S to be legal for any small game the minimum muzzle velocity is 600 fps CO2 pistols do not reach this velocity.)
  19. Shotgun shells annoy me the most, I often wonder why anyone would want to see their own trash next time they go out.
  20. Wow, Northern Italian hunting tradition is well established and respected but not like in Germany. The less said about southern Italian hunting customs that I've experienced the better. Good Read Thanks Doc!
  21. Laugh if you will but the .410 is good and fun for 90% of hunting.
  22. This morning I got up early and went to Barcelona Neck Cooperative for the first day of Turkey here in Suffolk. I didn't see any but I did see many does. HOWEVER! On the way home on the West bound L.I.E. between exits 68 and 61 a white car with a Doe strapped to the roof in a splayed out position it's tongue sticking out, It appeared to be tied down by many pieces of twine and worst of all the blood was streaking all over the rear part of the car! The two fellows in the front of the car seemed oblivious to the scene of rolling carnage they were part of.
