The Mermaid I and live right on NY 417 right in Addison, so we get a fairly steady stream of traffic on the street in front of our house... Tonite I was out in the yard enjoying the cool weather, and in the process of getting a container of water to water one of my raised beds...I looked out at the street and saw a young woman with long blonde hair walking down the sidewalk...Just at that time an 18 wheeler came down the street and tooted his horn... I waved......Hehehe...Then immediately I broke out laughing.....As if he were tooting at ME !!...Hehehe....

Can't go wrong with a Rem 1100...Have had several myself and recommended to several others who were happy with them..

I kinda like possums myself...Just had to chuckle at the irony of your story... Remind me of the old joke, what do you do if you are lost in the woods ?? Just find a possum and follow it...It will lead you to a road for sure...
-
Sorry for your loss Al, but THAT's kinda funny.....Hehehe....
-
I see he's still GRINNING at you.....Hehehe.. All kidding aside, I hope you heal up from your tumble and it doesn't affect your trip...

I have friends who have done the dog thing on hogs..I would have loved to do it 20 years ago, but nowadays I'm getting too old for that much excitement...I'd still be tickled pink to shoot them..used to hunt them down in GA, a combo of baiting and stillhunting...If some else would want to pay for it, I would LOVE to shoot them from a helicopter, with a semi rifle or a shotgun...I've seen the videos..Looks likes about as much fun as a guy could have with his clothes on..

I shot my first few deer wearing a Woolrich " PA Tuxedo" and a navy watchcap... Then one day when we driving deer I came upon a watcher ( my ex-wife) and she said " When I first saw you, you looked just like a deer".. On the way home I stopped at the local western Auto store and bought an orange hat...

That is what I always heard called " a set of drags"... Years ago, a plow and a set of drags was all that most farmers around here used for seed bed prep.. If you look around a little usually you can find a set behind Old Mc Donald's barn that can be had free for the asking...They work well and are darn near indestructible..

The dude with the two grey foxes around his neck has what looks like a Winchester m1887 lever action shotgun... It could also be a M1901, which was basically the same gun, except beefed up to handle smokeless loads... I remember when Ed hart's Gun Shop was in Cohocton back in the 1960s..He had two of those Win lever shotguns on his rack , a 12 gauge and a 10 gauge..I can't remember what the price was, probably some exorbitant amount like $50...

Truth be known, I miss both Bubba and Growalot….I consider both of them my friends and feel they both contributed a lot of good info to the forum, as well as adding a lot of color...I'd like to see both of them come back...
-
I think Bubba and Growie ran off together.....POOR Mr. B...…<<sigh>>….
-
Hehehehe...I was better looking at 18 than that dude....I if I knew how to post my high school senior picture I could PROVE it....hehehe.. Nice looking Marlin rifle that young fellow has, tho…...

For a long range rifle < I am talking 400 yards PLUS> that is capable of handling all North American big game. the .300 Win Mag is an excellent candidate...
-
Waaaaay, cool Al...…<<SMLE>>….
-
You beat me to it, Larry...
-
Thanks for sharing, Al...Obviously Coyote Jack didn't have a TV in the cabin to watch on those cold winter nights...Hehehe.. I like the grouse hunter...The shotgun looks just like one that my Dad bought for $10 back in the late 1930s... It is an Ithaca, made in 1899..It has " NEW ITHACA GUN" inscribed on the receiver...I still have it..

Have they announced the dates yet ? I have a kid I would like to take hunting, if it does not interfere with my annual Ontario hunt, which opens April 25th...
-
I saw one wider than once myself, but her boyfriend caught me drawing a bead on her and that was the end of that....<<sigh>>... All kidding aside, nice buck, my friend !

Don't be so modest, Jay....I can tell by his slack jawed expression that TACKS caught all the little ones....Hehehe...
