  1. While I was over at the Legion, The Mermaid called one of her in-laws, who has logging experience... When I got home, the limbs were already on the ground, where I can deal with them... Thank you ALL, for your generous offers to help ….I sincerely appreciate it.... I guess she's not a jinx after all.....Hehehe....
  2. Thanks for the input db....Problem is these are MASSIVE limbs....Both close to 24" in diameter where they come off the main trunk.. And they are now touching the ground out into the food plot about 50 feet, making a huge obstruction to mow or plow around...

    BEARysburg!

Cool video, FatBoy…. That bear looks about the same size as one I saw on my property last week...
  4. I have a huge old oak on the edge of my foodplot with overhanging limbs... One of the limbs ( about 20 feet up) broke off at the trunk and dropped down on the limb below it, which is live and still attached..Both are HUGE limbs...Sumbitch has WIDOWMAKER written all over it... I want to get it out of my foodplot but there is no way that I have the equipment OR the know-how to do it safely, so I'll have to hire someone to take care of it... Another unexpected expense...This year it has been one thing after another with the property , house and equipment.. Perhaps getting married JINXED me....Hehehe....
  5. No, they are similar to the cottonwood fluff that is a problem from time to time....They build up on the line and then clog up in the rod eyes, around terminal tackle such as swivels, lures etc. They only tend to be a problem while trolling...Not so bad when casting , jigging, etc.
  6. The fleas are a PITA on the Finger Lakes in summertime also.. I took some to work with me once and looked at them under the microscope...On the line they just look like a fibrous mass, but under the scope you can see that are individual little critters...

    Other Pan Fish

A friend and I caught a bunch of white perch in Maine a few years back while up there on a gobbler hunt.. We had some decent 1 pound + fish....They were very good, but I would not say they were better than yellow perch. Many Mainers, however, COVET the white perch and consider yellows a trash fish, not worth keeping...Go figure....

Don't wait up for the shrimp boats, Mama, cuz I'm coming home with the crabs...
  9. Yeah Jerry, I dress to left also... That's why my jeans always wear thin on the left leg about halfway between my crotch and my knee...If I was taller, that would be impressive....<< SIGH>>….
  10. Actually, Bugsy and I HAVE met face to face...He's not my type, but his WIFE is a cutie !!…..
  11. My favorite is the padded, fully adjustable office chair that I have in my tower blind, but it's not very portable either...it's also somewhat difficult to stay AWAKE in....Hehehe..
  12. Nice teeth...I am a big fan of oral hygiene, among other things <<SMILE>>….
  13. The bear is being a PITA, shoot him...No problem...What is the big deal....??... I never shot a bear in my life, although I had the chance legally to do so several times.. None of those bears were being a problem...
  14. Low..??..That's OK..You'll hit him in the nuts....Hehehe...
  15. Without even hearing it I'd give odds that it is a red fox.....
  16. looks more like one of my old girlfriends... Some guys like girls with big hooters...I like girls with big honkers, like Gloria Estefan.... The Mermaid has BOTH which is even better...Hehehe...
  17. Sorry, Rob..It's Brian Keith... I still use one of his expressions on a nearly daily basis.. " Skull Varnish".....Hehehe..
  18. Happy belated birthday !! I'll have a beer in your honor today..... Better late than never !!
  19. I don't know what the REAL farmers do, but my Dad , who was sort of a hobby farmer, usually seeded a hay crop like timothy, alfalfa, clover or trefoil when he plant wheat or oats...
  20. Garands are on a lot of wish lists....I'd guess I'd have no problem selling mine if I wanted to... My buddy in Canada has a BEAUTIFUL Winchester Garand, one of the nicest I've ever seen..I'd give my left nut for it, but they are a pita to import anymore...
  21. As much as I love guns, I cannot think of a single one that would fill a niche that I have not already have filled.. Actually, I have a number of them that I will probably never use again that I should be selling... But then I remember a number of guns that I sold and wish I still had...<<sigh>>…..
  22. Not a good date for me...My sister has a place on Keuka rented for the month of September and whatever spare time The Mermaid alots me will be spent up there...Have fun, y'all….
  23. Hold on to her..A woman like that is hard to find !!

    Other Pan Fish

Pepper specks are year round in some of the places I fish...Just a little more protein as far as I am concerned...I DO pop out the yellow/ white grubs with the point of my filet knife, but that is more for The Mermaid's benefit than mine...
