    All my caribou have been well pre-rut and they were wonderful...They say that when the bulls are in rut DOGS won't even eat it... Nothing better IMHO than fat caribou killed in late August or early September..

    In that case I am guessing that it is no more than 50/50 chance that he died of natural causes... Nobody will ever know... I would guess that as big as that buck was, probably SOMEBODY other than your friends knew he was there...There are a lot of people out there suffering from ANTLER SICKNESS that would do unscrupulous deeds to get a buck like that...

    Helluva buck Do they have any indication of cause of death..?? Funny that he would die of natural causes in the middle of a field... Perhaps a bullet or a broadhead in his guts ??

    I have had good results with oats planted in mid to late August...I have planted mostly the triple washed, but did try some forage oats last year and they may be worth the extra money... I also plan to put in a strip of winter wheat on my murder plot at the same time...First time for me with the wheat, but my neighbors have had excellent luck with it..

    Muskoxen.....You pursue them with dogsled, or more likely, snow machine until they form a defensive circle, then approach them and shoot one...Chances are the temps will be well below zero...The only challenge is GETTING there, and it's too damn cold for me... Now if I had a cute little Inuit girl to guide me and snuggle in the igloo, it might make a difference, but in my experience, good looking Inuit women are MUCH more rare than B&C Muskoxen...

    I don't get cold anymore while deer hunting...If I start to get chilly , I close the windows of my enclosed, elevated tower stand and turn up the propane heater...I don't shoot any big bucks, but I also don't give a rat's ass, as long as I can kill a deer or two for the freezer...

    Willie is the only country artist I ever saw in concert, in Elmira a few years back.... I never do anything illegal, but there was aa unconfirmed rumor that I smoked a joint back in 1994.. I'd do a doobie with Willie tomorrow if I had the chance.. I have requested that his rendition of " Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" be played at my funeral...
