Snakes are the #2 phobia in this country... Fear of snakes is second only to fear of heights... Snakes don't bother me too much...I actually consider them quite interesting, although I have never had the urge to play with them. I'm scared s***less of heights !!.. On my turf, snakes get a pass..They don't bother me, so I just live and let live.. If you don't like them on your property, that is your business.

Milk snake...Locally they are called "spotted adders", but that is not thier proper name. A widow who lived up the road from me and my ex-wife used to get one in her house now and then...She lived in an old farmhouse with a dug cellar and they would find thier way upstairs on occasion... She called one day and said she had one in her living room. It was a big one and he was coiled up on her TV stand behind the TV set... I held a paper grocery bag and my ex-wife, who was an old farm girl, snatched the snake up by its tail and dropped it in the bag.. Done deal....hehehehe...

You piqued my interest, because I had never heard of it.. I googled it up.. Memory bump grip safeties have a more pronounced "hump" than a standard grip safety, supposedly to ensure that the safety releases more positively . Some shooters have tried them and found them painful, and for that reason have ground them down to reduce the size of the hump.

My goal in shooting a 3 inch 12 gauge ( I never had the interest in being beat up with anything bigger) is to have a sure kill pattern at 40 yards.. Beyond that...? I'll just let the old bird walk and try to get him within 40 yards some other day..

Probably not...I remember catching bullheads many times when the wind was bitter and it was spitting snow..Usually after they start biting, colder weather doesn't have that much of an effect.. Nice mess of fresh bullheads sounds GOOOOOD ....YUM !!!...

Guess we better get one of these
Pygmy replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
Cool, Culver...You could shoot down ducks and microwave them at the same time.. When they hit the water they'd be broiled "medium rare"... -
I wouldn't THINK of it, because it is illegal... I am still emotionally scarred with guilt from that unsafe tire ticket I recieved 45 years ago... All of you good folks here on this forum have probably been asking yourselves... " Why is that PYGMY dude SO screwed up ??" Well, now you KNOW !! <<<SOB>>> << SNIFF>>... I think it's time for my NAP....
-
I agree with your philosophy. However posting a potentially illegal act on a public forum is just asking for trouble.. A word to the wise.. As for me, I have never done ANYTHING illegal, except that time back in 1968 when I got a ticket for an unsafe tire on my 1957 Ford F-100.. I was issued a ticket and paid my debt to society..Seems like it was $25. I was very remorseful and feel guilty about it to this very day, but I learned my lesson and never have been arrested since.

Glad you had a good day.. Keuka has been hot this year.. Were you trolling...? Jigging...?....

Lawdwaz....What were you doing with that busty blonde behind the blue tent ? The one with the leopard skin Frog Toggs and the fishnet stockings ?

I generally wear any one of half a dozen camo ball caps.. For years I wore a USMC utility cover, camo of course..It was sort my "trademark" headwear for a period of time during my earlier years of turkey hunting...For the last 20 years so, it has been camo ball caps. One exception..If I hunt in the rain I generally wear a "radar" type Goretex camo hat..It's my standard rain headwear.

Glad you like your new rifle HOBH... I have been waiting for someone to give a performance review.. Looks like a pretty decent rifle for the money. Marlin always had a good rep for accuracy and quality, but like Savage and other less expensive brands, the triggers tended to SUCK and there was not much you could do to improve them. Now, with improved triggers such as the Savage Accutrigger and Marlin's equivalent, a person who doesn't have a lot of money to spend can get a good, functional, accurate hunting rifle without having to refinance the farm...

Looks yummy !! Will you marry me ?

If a dog is threatening you or your property ( i.e. livestock) you are within your rights to defend yourself and your property. If a dog is threatening wildlife, a LEO has the authority shoot it. A private citizen does not have that authority, and if you do so you are risking legal charges and the possibility of civil suit. What is so difficult to understand about that ? It just means that all of you self righteous property owners can bluster all you want about what you will do about domestic dogs on your property, but if you DO injure or kill one, you must be prepared to pay the legal and civil consequences.

Yes, I got the newsletter yesterday and my seed order went out today.

Allow me to correct myself...24 pounds is supposed to cover TWO acres.... I'm allowed to buy 2 ( 12) pound bags for half price..That's $31.50 for enough clover mix to plant two acres... A friend of mine, who is a member, is also ordering 24 pounds of seed for me , so combined I'll have enough seed to plant 4 acres for $63.00 postpaid..Pretty good deal, methinks..
-
Wait a minute, Larry...I'm the DOMIC ( Dirty Old Man In Charge) here, and I MISSED that one !!
-
The NYS Chapter of the NWTF is again offering thier annual seed subsidy to members... I just ordered 24 pounds of Triple Threat Rut /Strut Clover mix for half price..That's enough to cover 4 acres, according to the label.. It includes 3 different species of pre-innoculated clover seeds....

I shot a couple of deer with them in my 25-06 and .260 Rem. They were accurate and seemed to perform as well as your average, cup/core type bullet. The deer died and as I remember , the meat damage was not excessive..

Any one else gearing up to do a little turkey hunting?
Pygmy replied to Guns&ReligionCop's topic in Turkey Hunting
The land I hunted in KY was private and my buddy and I had exclusive permission on 400 acres...It was wonderful.. Unfortunately the property is no longer available to us. Yes...30 miles north of Louisville is quite close to where we hunted..The property we hunted on was less than 10 minutes away from KY Speedway.. -

Same back at you, Bowhunter.. I envy you your KY hunt..I hunted a property near Glencoe, KY for 3 years a few years back.. Without a doubt the best gobbler hunting I have ever experienced in 40 years of hunting in several different states and provinces. HUGE toms and lots of them !!
