One thing that has not been mentioned but a problem in the Catskills and more so in the watershed area it is Water, spring can and do pop up anywhere. So that being said I would go for pored cement and very important a good French Drain system ( required by most towns now ) and a good waterproofing on the outside. Just had 2 houses down the road that had to have the ground around there basements dug up , drains put in and waterproofed.Big Bucks afterwood. The above mentioned companies do good work.I have used some of them in the past.

I had them taken down and gone last year, they had to clime over a stone wall to get to them (trespassing ). One neighbor said maby the blew off the trees, I said I have the same signs that are still on trees for 5 tears or more put up the same way. That makes me think he knows who did it.

I am wondering if the Bear are going to head for there winter homes with next weeks weather.
-
Yep sounds the price pretty close, Big difference in the ground from the Sand Pit L.I. and the Catskill mountians. 10 times harder to dig a hole for the leaching field , you could hit anything from rocks to boulders and a Lot of the soil for it has to be trucked in.

For 60+ years we started to walk out of the woods 1/2 to 1 hour before sunset .Never had to trip over down tree limbs, rocks and what ever, Did the deer a favor an did not hit them with a bad shot and have the bleed for hours before they died.Did not give the Yotes and Bobcats a free meal.Been a hunter all of the time Not a Sniper with a Night Vision Scope.

Same by me hardly any apples , very few acorns the last 3 years.even the wild blackberries were very few this year., have a few small plots, There are a few deer that hit the plots and bed down in the area but they are less then 2 years old and have 2 fawns . The deer heard by me is 75% less then 5 years ago.

Don't think the jacked up with big tire rigs are safe either, had a friend hit a big buck a while back with his big F350, bent a tie rod and tore up the exhaust system. He said he was happy it went down and not up on the hood.

The thing is you have to know the area you are hunting as when and where the deer are moving to bedding areas in the morning and out of them in the afternoon, unless they are pushed by other hunters, if other hunters are in the area just sit tight they will most likley will get up an move just before noon ( they are either hungry or bored from not seeing anything).Let them push the deer around for you.If the deer know you are there now it becomes a waiting game to see who can sit tight the longest and most of the time they will out sit you.

Sorry to hear the results, you tried , just chalk it up to experience.

I have to agree you did Not Wait long enough,Your not gun hunting, shooting a deer 1/2 hour before Sunset Bow hunting not a very wise thing to do . A gut shot deer can travel for miles before dying.Yotes and Bobcats will have a free meal if they get to it first. Hope you find it first.

Store bought are nice the are adjustable for height.I have a set bought so long ago forgot where I got them.I made my set I use the most. But what you are sitting or lieing on makes a difference.Like most things ,if you don't want to be aggrivated do not buy $$ Cheap.

Ever have this happen with it off , You take a shot it hits a twig ( shot blown ) now your quiver fell off of the tree stand , Hmmm. Now how do you get a second shot at the deer that is just standing there.
-
Good shooting.

Before the started AR in my area I Hunted 2 three point bucks, I wound up getting one of them, Just did not want them spreading there genes .

Yes Long Island , NY can grow some pretty big deer,As I said on another post, the food is there Potatoes, pumpkins a good supply of oak trees and some pretty heavy areas to hide in.Out further east there are the grape growers. Years ago at the check station in Ridge there was a 21 pointer that was shot in that area.
-
All you need is a quiver that holds 3 arrows,Leave it on the bow , they are there when you need them , does not weigh that much and you will be lucky if you can get a third shot at the deer.No need to carry a bandelaro full of arrows.
-
And the DEC keeps on handing out doe permits for this area, There are 75% less deer by me then 5 years ago. If we have a bad winter there won't be any left.
-
Very little ,have not seen 1 buck this year. And the amount of Does are down also.

Well here is one for you. A friend ( was around 18 at the time) and in good shape. He was with his uncle deer hunting on the side of a large hill. His uncle said to watch out because the bears like to hang out in the area.As he got near the top he walked past a sleeping bear which woke up and started to chase him down the hill. He had all he could do to stay ahead of the bear,he got down to the bottom and got into his uncles car , the bear started to brake the windows in the car, he reached into the glove box and pulled out his uncles pistol and put 6 rounds into the bear which died out side of the car. They got a hold of an Econ officer who gave them a permit for it and said it was around 500 pounds. No BS true story.

Dead Fish the older the better and the more the better.Take Four Seasons advice on what wepon to use plus take a 4WD. something with plenty of rope rope to pull it out, there not to easy to move by yourself.
-
I had a 10 pointer do the same thing ( was not that broad thou ) every year the same place then gone for another year.
-
The are the same as buying a long gun. See what fits you,You are comfortable with and what is in your price range.

NYSDEC states 1 antler 3" or more to be a Buck,if less then that you have to use a DMP.
