  1. Yep. this is where them little wired haired dogs do there best.Snow and rain will not effect there search.Hope some one from DSI show's up.
  2. All Rem. 700's have there BBL's. threaded into the receiver. Sighting in with a bore sighter and looking threw the BBL will both git it on the paper.Sill have to shoot it to sight it in with the ammo you are going to use.
  3. Speaking of Dogs ( people's pets) that ruined there belongings in the house when they were puppies. And were taken for a ride to eastern Long Island and left there in the woods. They grew up eating what they would hunt down to survive and they would join together and hunt in packs. In a number of years the rabbit population dropped almost to nothing, as did the bird population. They also went after people's live stock as chickens, ducks and other small creatures. One day while on line at the local check station during deer season, A fellow came up and asked the ranger what can be done to them they are killing his chickens a few at a time The ranger said Shoot Them on sight..
  4. I think Doc got 2 deer with his , He might chime in.
  5. Take the moulding off and see what holding it in. ,if it can come out a wiz wheel in the back will get you inside.
  6. They sell dryer sheets for your hunting clothes , Dicks has them.
  7. Good example why I do not buy out of the box rifles anymore for a serious shooter. I just buy an action for the caliber I am going to shoot, have that blue printed with an aftermarket extractor and trigger, order a BBL. with the twist rate for the bullet I am going to shoot and have that chambered and set into the receiver with a lug. Buy an aftermarket stock that I like and bed the action into it. Buy a scope mount and rings for that combo ,put the mounts and rings on and lap the rings in.Mount the scope and sight it in with the loads I made up and see which one it likes. By the way I did have 2 custom rifles at one time with ceracoat and they held up very well.
  8. This is what I heard, Get it butchered and let it sit in the freezer for 6 months, then it is safe to eat.
  9. This was told to me by a local farmer. We ( Her and her husband ) when the go out to feed there livestock in the morning and lock them up in the evening go out packing Pistols because the were followed a number of times by Yotes and most of the time there was more then just 1. They have a variety of animals and sell Milk, Eggs, Chicken, turkey, pork and beef.
  10. Turkey, Yotes and small game is on now. Bang , Bang.

    Youth Bows

Keep it simple, I started out 60+ years ago with a fiberglass bow and arrows ( my first kill ) was with that bow a Phesant. I would try a long bow ( the longest ) the young person can hold and shoot. Arrows any thing wood, aluminum. ( pleanty around ) and cheap. If they master that then they can shoot just about anything later on. Take them to a pro shop to get set up first.
  13. Been using them ever since the Etrex came out. Great tool.
  14. Oct. 30 th. To Nov. 14 th. Be in the woods.
  15. Here are the facts, after age 65 your body starts to take a dump.( so get ready for it ) there are exceptions and there are some people that live to be over 100 years old.At the age of 60 I could do what most 40 -50 year old fellows could do, I did manual labor my whole life, no pencile pusher jobs.At that age I still used climbers, Then I went to ladder stands, they got old and started falling apart like me, I now am back to where I started hunting 60 years ago on the ground at 74. No desire to sit in a swaying tree any more.
  16. All season for me even on my property , one bullet hitting a tree next to me was enough years ago.
  17. The fellow most likley ment 200 Feet which is less then 100 Yds. At that distance it could be done But 40 -50 yards is all I would try.Why not just use a sabot ?.
  18. True story, We were in the local bar with a dining room off to the side after hunting one night for dinner and a few fellows walk in wearing the leather belts that hold around 20 rounds of ammo and boie knives hanging on the side of them. This old fellow was at the end of the bar and asked if they just came from a war, one of them said why, the old fellow said you are dressed for it and asked what the heck are you going to do with them big knives, one of them said , there for gutting deer when we got some. The old fellow reaches in his pocket and pulls out a folding knife with a 2"long blade and said , fellows I have gutted more deer and other animals with this knife then you will most likley ever shoot in your life time..
  19. They should go back to the old paper lic. with the stamps that you had to sign over. 1 piece of paper to carry.
  20. Call Dear Search Inc. and find out if there is anybody on L.I. if that is where you are hunting.
  21. Open mesh or weave first layer, Smart wool mid layer, Wool shirt and wool pants or a set of bib pants and coat with wind breaker lining.Cotton is the worst thing to use in cold weather.

    Disabled

I am right handed since I can remember. Lost the use of it and my wrist for 16 weeks , a lot of pain and swelling. It geadualy got better then moved to my left hand. A few days before bow season started I just put on my Scott release and tried a few shots , Now I am pulling from my wrist not fingers, Left hand just holds the bow , very little pressure on the fingers that are hurting right now when trying to pull or lift something. If you really want to be out there hunting you will find a way. Lots of luck.
  24. I never shot a fawn and never will unless it is injured,I take my deer to a butcher to have cut up into the pieces I would like, He is going to charge the same price if it is 75 pounds or 120 pounds. The way I heard If It Is Brown It is down was from many years ago by people that would shoot any size deer just to say the shot a deer that year.
  25. Just Call Dear Search Inc. They will take care of it. And Yes there dogs can track a wonded Bear.
