It is coming down in buckets here. I wish I could be in one of my stands when it stops. The view from my desk isn't as nice as anyone of the stands lol

What I see in that video is a young lady who is enjoying herself in the woods when most kids are stuck in front of some time of electronic device. I could care less what weapon she uses. She (along with every other young hunter) is what will keep our sport going. I for one will be trying this beast style hunting this off season. It sounds like fun and it's something new for me. I would take phade up on the scouting trip, you might learn something and what is the harm in that?

You totally are ruining a sweet truck with a bed rug in it.

Just a phone call into work telling them I would be late. Boss might get pissed but she will get over it lol

If you guys could only hunt till 930am tomorrow would you go? It is suppose to get down to 45 degrees tonight.

I love my climber. I only have one problem with it, every time I do a morning sit in it I'm sleeping by 8am lol

Had to work yesterday morning. Got out of work at noon, was in the stand by 3:30pm. I forgot my binocs but I saw what I thought was a deer a field over from me around 445. Anyway, shortly after 6 I have a fork horn at 24 yards and a spike is following him. Well the fork was in my shooting lane he lifts his head in the air, licks his nose and is sniffing hard. The wind was blowing in my face, he shouldn't have been able to smell me. He stands there for about a minute and then works his way into the woods and the spike takes the same exactly path. I'm glad I choose to let him walk because my dad goes over the radio he needs a drag rope (which neither of us had). He arrowed a nice fat doe. Needless to say I'm happy with my stand placements thus far lol. We also forgot to have a processer lined up for such a warm day. Luckily a buddy came up big with a phone number and we will have her back on friday.

I forgot my binocs, head light and drag rope (not that bad of a night when you realize you forgot this).

Dad got a doe, I had a four point and spike come through at 24 yards and I passed on them. Was a pretty fun sit, my da shot his doe at 13 yards

So the one thing I forgot was this. Could really use some help if anyone knows anyone?

just got in, it's cooling off a tad and there is a good breeze. Hope to see some movement. Pretty excited just to be sitting in a tree.

When are you getting in the woods for the first time this year?

I told my boss if I didn't get into the woods today for a little while I would be worthless the rest of the week. I'm getting out at noon and I will be sitting in a tree around 1:30.- 52 replies

This post is pointless without the story lol good luck though. I watched 3 different people buy acorn rage at Walmart and dicks tonight. Can't believe people just flat out ignore the law or are ignorant to it.

My fiancé showed me the fox video a week ago, I told her "The fox makes an awful noise when you stick an arrow in the side of one, I've heard it." She didn't think that was as funny as I did.

We were out a bit this week. Saw a few bucks out earring cut corn in day light hours. My daughter just had to look through the 'noculars to see the "deers".

Don't let emotions get the best of you. It sounds like you need to have a conversation with dad and gramps.

I proposed to my fiance in a turkey blind. She gets how big of a deal hunting is to me, she wanted to try something I love, why wouldn't I take her? Hunting to me isn't a way to escape, it has always been more about spending time with people you care about and sharing in tradition. If you are going hunting to get away from your everyday life it's time to look at your life and change some things.

Interesting F&S article by David Petzal on respecting your quarry

I can barely hear you while you are on that really tall horse. -

If I want to give my dad or one of my buddies a high five or a quick hollar because we just had a succesful hunt I will do so. I bought my lisence just like you did, I have the right to take a few minutes and enjoy the moment. We put a lot of time in scouting, hanging stands, triming shooting lanes, target practice ect. Please don't preach that if I celebrate a kill with those I hunt with I'm not respecting my quarry. I have a great appreciation for the animals I hunt. To this day my eyes still tear up when I take an animal. If you want to get on someone for not having respect for the game we hunt talk to the paper plate shooters, tresspassers and deer jackers. Not the guy who puts the time in to make sure it's done right. -
DW-I'll give you a call Tuesday to come pick up my deer lol congrats on the new rig.

I will be using rage xtrem 2 blade. I have had good luck with them. Blood trails are pretty amazing with them. Whatever you do decide to go with make sure they are hitting with your field points. I've seen too many guys not test broadheads and the results are ugly.

Got 5 stands up and ready to roll. Hopefully I can come up with a good excuse to get out of work Tuesday afternoon. This will be a very long week, hopefully it is worth it.
