  1. Seems crazy to me as well, but what else could be the cause of such a low deliberate flight?
  2. Kite flying is a nice option on autumn days....I'm probably bailing on Saturday evening due to the high winds- I hope to get out thre Sunday am
  3. I wonder why the don't include teatown in the westchester deer management program of ward pound, Muscoot, Lasdon, mountain lake and Hilltop Hanover...makes no sense
  4. It's getting so you have to look a the poster and just skip some of the ranting posts - I could never live with the idea that I need to argue every point...exhausting!
  5. Oh please tell me that's true! That would be awesome!
  6. I think someone needs to invent a very collapsible blowgun for use during the hunting season (is thateven legal?)to rid the area of pesky squirrels and chipmunks without wrecking the woods with excess sound or losing costly arrows to breaks. You think Rage will make the expandable head? Obviously when you deer hunt is over, ou can collect your harvest for the stew pot.
  7. Blueberry bbq sauce. I made it for venison ribs once. Loved the sauce(long time ago so you are on your own for a google search for a recipe)...wasn't thrilled with the venison rib flavor(sorry shawnhu!)
  8. He allows people to hunt his land. He tells people when he shoots deer whether or not the come....? He is not interested in nor has the time to deal with processing, gutting, etc.Do i agree with it as a hunter, no. Do i understand why he does it, yes. This guy busts his a$$ as a small farmer in NY and is barely able to keep above water, partly due to nuisance animals.
  9. Deer ARE nuisance animals for the guy's land i hunt on occasion.. He runs a pumpkin patch that gets desimated every year by deer. He legally kills them regularly and leaves them in the woods...I guess he is a lowlife for protecting his livelihood that provides for his family.
  10. Either Bear Grylls or Les Straud filming in your area? They like using bark as TP or roofing materials. My choice is a porcupine mating a woodpecker
  11. Hell of a lot easier to photograph it when it's mounted!
  12. Idk Shawn....I tried the ribs once-parboiled then grilled with a blueberry BBQ sauce(damn good sauce). I ended up licking the sauce off and feeding my dog the ribs. I found the ribs pretty rough to stomach
  13. Is that true? If so, Any idea why?
  14. Why is killing does for coyote bait ok(don't remember who said that during this thread) but not for dog food? If the resource is being used for sustenance I wouldn't consider it wasted. I certainly think it is a hell of a lot better then ripping out backstrap and disregarding the remainder.
  15. I feel a need to have the land owner on board. I confronted someone on land that we supposedly had exclusive rights to with the exception of two other people who we contacted. It turns out this guy is a "local" and has been hunting there his whole life unbenounced to the owner. By the time we explained our side to the owner, WE GOT KICKED OFF! Land owner did not want a problem with local neighbors so we got the boot. Make sure the landowner is on board with your plan- it is his/her land.
  16. This is not an accusation or judgement of up hill shooters- Lets also not forget the "know your target AND BEYOND" rule with up hill shots - was she on the top of a peak and you were below? Impossible to know what's on the other side of the mountain if she jumps the string or the shot is missed high if our physics are wrong(I know mine would be) - be safe first. 17. My neighbor had one years ago that produced ridiculous amounts of fruit. So much so that we were both overrun with ants. Chopped It down. My buddy has one in westchetse and it is doing well. Took some TLC in the beginning (wrapping in the winter and starte fertilizers, etc.)
  18. Funny-if(more likely when) I miss a squirrel (but miss close!lol!) i can still justify it because its such a small target so I tell myself it was a good shot- what a head game!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  19. For you a fat doe broadside is easy...for him it doesn't seem to be-IF the pressure of KILLING A DEER is getting to him and all other things(form, shot, equipment) are all good, not focusing on killing deer may be helpful - it may also help to realize that hitting a tiny target can instill confidence (i think that was the question)or remind him that even shooting at a fat doe means aiming at a very small target (about the size of a squirrel?)on that fat doe- Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  20. I treated my stuff with permethian and found very few ths year on my self - did have a few walking my clothes afte scouting a new thick area. Check everywhere is best advice. I found one behind my knee one year after a day flysishing while wearing neoprene waders. Must have picked him up on the walk through the brush but never expected one down there.
  21. My 8 year old wants to be Si from sucky dynasty...so he's making me be Willy since I am growing my hunting beard. I'm a big fan if Halloween for the kids- only time yo can do stuff your not supposed to and it's ok. Take candy from a stranger, walk the streets in dark, power load MMs and mini snickers- can't get any better!
