So why is it that so many people who shoot Montec G5’s complain about the lack of blood trail? Do all G5 hunters not have appropriate shot placement for optimal blood trails? Can’t be! Something in that head’s design doesn’t allow for good blood. I’ve tracked three deer shot with g5 and all three were clean lung or heart shots(Not by me!) and all three had specks of blood early. Until nose/mouth spray showed on the track,all were very difficult. So both my boys (16-6’3” 185) are working out hard (crew and baseball/football) now and are looking to maximize on their efforts with the right foods, high in protein and calories. Their breakfast today was: 4 eggs (over easy for one, cheese omelette for other) , 2 slices bacon, 2 sausage patties, 2 biscuits and fruit. I may need TWO more deer!!! So serious question as I must be doing something wrong: I usually hang my meat for 3-5 days in outdoor weather if temps are right or quarter and hang in a deer fridge if too hot. By the time I am ready to butcher, the loins are leathery and not appetizing. And yet when I ripped them out and ate them the same day as a kill they were tough. Ninham mountain used to hold some deer but gets hit hard during gun opener. Park at the top and walk the logging road to the left and hunt some deeper parts to the left of the logging road…some good swamp-ish areas.
