I bet he did agree that it was your fault. Sending someone a new stand is a whole lot cheaper for Summit than fighting a lawsuit.

I wouldn't argue with that, but I don't think many of us hunt too far off from road access. If we did somehow bring something down at a far off spot, I think most anyone who has skinned a deer before could figure out what to do to skin and quarter it in the field. I don't think I need to see a video to know what to do.

I could understand leaving the guts in if you didn't want to leave them in a spot you will be hunting again very soon, but I would think removing them first would surely make the job a heck of a lot easier. Just try this method if you had a gaping hole with damage to the stomach or intestines?? You'd have the slime oozing out everywhere while you were trying to skin it. Even a lung or heart shot would be a bloody mess.

That's just it. I think the vast majority of hunters on this forum and in NYS in general hunt not too far from a road. Heck, we even have arguments here about the 500' rule for shooting distance from a dwelling, so obviously many are practically hunting in backyards. I see absolutely NO need for this method to these hunters. Drag the thing to your vehicle or ATV, bring it to a shed, barn, garage and skin it there. Real simple and you will have more tools, water, etc. at your disposal to get the job done right.

I find it funny that some people are considering trying this. My question is why would anyone use this method here in NYS where most deer are taken within a mile of access to a road, ATV or something? Makes absolutely NO sense to me. If you were several miles inside a wilderness area, then go for it, but for most everyone else this is pretty silly. Many guys can see a road, their house, camp, from their deer stands and then would opt for this method?? Completely pointless in my opinion.

Is there such a place? I don't think I've ever heard of state land that is off limits to anybody other than hunters during hunting season.

I guess it's where society has gone these days. Young people post all sorts of crap about themselves on the internet, this is just another example. It's like a play by play of their day for the world to see. Like anyone really gives a hoot, but like you say, to each their own.

Well yeah, there has been a decline in society, but ethics and morals are NOT only the result of our school systems. What do people learn at home from parents? Or grandparents from a generation before them? Plus, it has always been FACT that the more conservative mindset is more centered around the rural areas, so one would think that their ethics and morals would be above those from the urban areas, wouldn't you? At least that's what most of this mindset would lead you to believe anyway. Most rural people I know think the urban areas are a cesspool of violence, thievery and mayhem. I try to convince them that this isn't completely true, but it generally falls on deaf ears. If at the same time the rural folks are telling me about all these robberies that are occurring on their doorsteps, exactly what should I make of this, since the same surely doesn't occur in the urban/suburban area that I happen to live in?? Quite puzzling really.

I mean what the hell is up with all these robberies in the rural areas?? I live close to a very busy urban/suburban area and I often leave my car unlocked without incident, and have never had anything else stolen around my property either. Plenty of people that I know haven't either. Not making this into a urban vs. rural debate, but I always figured people in rural areas had more respect for property than this?. I realize that in more remote areas one has less chance of being seen or caught, but come on. Rural areas also have smaller human populations, so with the smaller human populations it appears to me that the percentage of these types of type incidences is far worse than in the freaking urban areas. Unreal!

I think most will think my question was a joke, but I really would like to know which odor would be worse while trying to hunt deer? Maybe Phade and Belo could continue their argument from the other thread and chime in on what effects the different odors would have on bedding bucks for example??

Which odors are worse? The paint odors that you fellas want to get rid of or the fart odors that you will blast into the chair while sitting on it waiting for the big buck to come around?? LOL

Not true. Some may have restrictions, but not all.

Honestly, these days I prepare mighty little. I just pick up my boots and weapon when it's time to go and that's pretty much it. When I do go out, it will be rain or shine and I won't be blaming anyone or anything if I don't put something down. I've hunted long enough to know that anything could happen at any time while one is out hunting and it can happen when you are least expecting it. I do know for certain, however, that you won't kill JACK if you aren't out there.

I don't get this. Why would someone be sweating while sitting still in a shady tree that still has leaves on it? Why not wear lighter clothes? I could see 80 degrees being uncomfortable if you have to hike 9 miles, but sitting still should not make someone sweat there a** off. 80 degrees beats 0 degrees any day of the week for me. You surely won't kill a deer sitting on the couch at home.

I'm not much of a bowhunter, but if you just grazed him I don't think it would have broken the arrow in half.

If you don't like the sight of ticks, then LI deer hunting is not for you.

A useful tool, but surely NOT the ideal hunting knife. I can only imagine how gunked up it would get gutting a deer. You'd have blood and guts under every single file, screwdriver, etc..

Are you sure about that? Maybe you were busy fussing with your phone and wasn't listening closely enough? I find that listening is just as important, if not more than looking. They don't make a lot of noise, but if one listens closely, one can pick up sounds that may turn into a deer. My suggestion to you boys would be to put away those stupid phones and be more alert.

How much do those replacement blades cost? There's just something about having a knife that you can sharpen yourself, though. Sitting down and getting a good edge can be more satisfying than replacing a blade like in a box cutter.
